10k: Respectable Renegade: 1971 Porsche 911 V8

Robert Weston Smith was a Brooklyn born disc jockey who grew up in the Ward & June Cleaver 1950s but rebelled from the man.  He assumed the moniker Wolfman Jack as he broadcast from a pirate radio station in  Cuidada, Acuna, Mexico at 250,000 watts (5 times the legal US limit).  His gravel tuned voice introduced songs from the Rolling Stones, recanted absurd stories, and he later played a caricature of himself in the George Lucas cult classic American Graffiti.  In 1995 the Wolfman passed on to the great radio station in the sky, but if he were alive today, this is what he would drive.  Find this 1971 Porsche 911 with Renegade Hybrid V8 swap currently bidding on ebay for $10,100 reserve-not-met with a few hours to go, located in Sunnyvale, CA.

The essence of a true American legend is that he is a self made man, born without a silver spoon in his mouth.  This 911 may be a German immigrant, but it qualifies since it started out life as a base model 911T equipped with a 2.2 liter 123 horsepower flat-6.  The transformation from skinny high school kid to fat Hawaiian shirt wearing badass took a few years.

Under the blue whale sized tail is a 350 cubic inch (5.7 liter) Chevy ZZ4 "fast burn" crate motor, which is rated at 385 horsepower and 385 ft-lbs of torque.  A Renegade Hybrids adapter kit is used to mate the engine to the stock Porsche 915 transaxle.

The build has some kind of Transformer's theme happening with what looks like the Autobot logo on the frunk lid, Cobalt self destruction device, steering wheel.  Additionally the original lithe 911 body has been covered in fiberglass 993-style flared pieces and it is wearing monstrously sized wheels front & rear.  Like a rude & crude radio disc jockey, this car is less about measurable performance and more about the sights, sounds and smells...but it should deliver on its promises of a thrill ride...right before you spin backwards into a ditch.
