Original Mobster: 1967 Triumph 2000 Mk1

The Triumph 2000/2500/2.5PI was a mid-sized family saloon car built in the UK from 1963 through 1977. It featured stylish sheet metal penned by Giovanni Michelotti (BMW New Class, DAF/Volvo trucks, Triumph Spitfire, and various Ferrari/Maserati things) and guts assembled by the Triumph Motor Company. Find this 1967 Triumph 2000 Mk1 offered for $15,000 on the SF Bay Area craigslist but located near Portland, OR.  Tip from FuelTruck.

Quadrato in Stile: 1972 Alfa Romeo Berlina 2000

I'm going to admit that I've always found the styling of the Alfa Romeo Berlina (1750 or 2000) to be a bit on the awkward side. There is something wrong with the way the rear window sits -- perhaps a bit too flat and upright.  It doesn't need to be crazy like a Rover SD1, but the GTV is such a hauntingly gorgeous car that I expected Kate's sister to look more like Pippa and less like Camilla.  Find this 1972 Alfa Romeo Berlina 2000 here on eBay bidding for $7,100 in Miami, FL. Tip from Zach.

Topless Classic: 1969 Datsun 2000 Roadster

Despite (or perhaps in spite of) the terrible weather on the island, classic 2-seat roadster for the masses was pioneered and beaten to death by the British.  You could get an MG, Triumph, Austin-Healey, Jensen Healey, Jaguar, Lotus, Aston Martin -- the list goes on, but there was another island nation that started producing cars without tops and I'm not talking about Malta.  Find this 1969 Datsun 2000 Roadster here on eBay bidding for $3,550 with 2 days to go, located in Derry, NH.

Ich bin ein Berlina: 1970 Alfa Romeo Berlina

Alright, the post headline is tortured, but stay with me, it gets better, I promise.  Say the word platform sharing and dirty words are muttered.  I think this comes from the GM badge engineering era of the 70's and 80's.  Alfa Romeo did it's version of platform sharing in the form of the spider (roadster), GTV (coupe) and Berlina (sedan).  They all shared the same basic goodness and it is said real a Alfista drives a Berlina. Find this 1970 Alfa Romeo Berlina for sale in Bellingham, WA for $12,000 via craigslist.

Needs Some Work: 1967 Triumph 2000

The Triumph 2000/2500 was a mid-sized sedan (saloon) designed by Giovanni Michelotti ((Standard, Triumph , Ferrari, Maserati, BMW, DAF/Volvo trucks), and built in the United Kingdom from 1963 through 1977.  It isn't a car you will find at your local Friday night car show, or even at an annual collection of British cars because the few that were imported have probably rusted into oblivion.  Find this 1967 Triumph 2000 offered for $2,300 in Portland, OR via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

Blu Bellezza: 1973 Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina

The Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina was a 105 series sedan that shared many of its mechanical parts with the gorgeous GTV coupe.  The Berlina (sedan) version has enjoyed surprising price appreciation in the past few years and nice examples demand decent money, so if you want a cheap one, expect it to be rough.  Like this 1973 Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina offered for $6,000 in Miami, FL via craigslist. DTO: Fuel Injected Hatchling: 1973 BMW 2000 Tii Touring

Everybody wants to claim they were the first to do something.  It doesn't matter that the good old USA was first to put a man on the moon in 1969, because the Ruskies can say they were the first to put an object on the moon with their Luna 2 mission in 1959, and the Chinese will point out that Shi Shen (4th century BC) was the first to accurately predict lunar eclipses -- so where does this leave us?  The point is, you don't have to be first to leave a lasting impression, you just have to be a badass about it.  BMW may not have built the first hot hatch when they built the Touring version of their successful 2000 Tii on the New Class platform, but they did a fantastic job.  Find this 1973 BMW 2000 Tii TOURING here on eBay currently bidding for $21,000 reserve-not-met with 7 days to go, located in Laguna Beach, CA.

3k: Vintage Wrecker: 1973 Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina

The Alfa Romeo 2000 was released in 1971 as an updated version of the 1750 Berlina (sedan).  Strangely enough, in 1972 the Milanese manufacturer released the Alfetta sedan, which by all means was intended as a replacement for the aging Berlina, but sales of the 1750/2000 continued through 1977.  Today the 1750/2000 cars are a great alternative to a BMW 2002 or Datsun Bluebird if you prefer admiring and working on your classic instead of driving it, but prices are high.  There is a fine line between a valued vintage classic with racing pedigree and a torn up pile of parts, but this one falls squarely into parts pricing...provenance to be determined.  Find this 1973 Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina offered for $3,500 in Redwood City, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Fueltruck.

10k: Polizia Sedan: 1973 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 1300

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 1300 (Tipo 115.09) was a version of the Giulia sedan sold from 1973 to 1978.  The Giulia was a competitor to the BMW New Class and Datsun 510 but outclassed both of those cars with an Italian take on family motoring.  Find this 1973 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 1300 currently bidding for $7,600 reserve-not-met on ebay, located in New Egypt, NJ with less than 1 day to go.

15k: Alfa Male: 1959 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider V8-4spd Swap

Oct 20, 2013: The Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider was a gorgeous drop-top two seater from Italy, styled by Carlo Felice Bianchi "Cici" Anderloni and built from 1958 to 1961.  Most examples trade in the $40k price range when it pristine condition and are powered by one of Alfa's small and sweet inline-4 cylinder engines.  Today's feature has double the cylinders, but half the price and will have the Alfisti screaming bloody murder...it's awesome.  Find this 1959 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider with Chevy V8 and 4-spd for sale in Santa Cruz, CA for $15,000 via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

Update April 28, 2013: This 1959 Alfa Romeo Spider with V8 is still for sale, now without pictures but with a simple statement from the seller "Can be seen on website Daily Turismo." Any seller who references DT in his advertisement is okay in our book. Thanks to AW for pointing this out in the comments!

10k: Think Inside The Box: 1967 BMW 2000 Tilux 4-Door Sedan

It seems you can't surf craigslist for classic cars without tripping over piles of BMW 2002 New Class 2-doors, but the 1600/1800/2000 sedans seem to be almost gone.  Are they hidden away in collector's air conditioned garages or rusted into the earth?  All we know is that they make an impression when they do show up.  Find this BMW 2000 Tilux 4-Door Sedan offered for $8,500 in Jupiter Farms, FL via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

10k: Squaretalian: 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Berlina

There is an old adage that says the customer is always right...but you as readers of this site aren't so much customers as unwitting clickers of advertisements that gives us a nickle from some third party website that is really just another website looking to get you to click on their ads..for which they get a nickle...basically the internet is one giant pyramid scheme...but that is the subject for another post.  Anyway, tipper Gianni sends us the following link with a note:
You need more Alfas on DT.  Nice ‘69 Berlina on eBay. Cheers.
There is no way to argue with that sort of logic, so without further ado, here is this 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Berlina currently bidding for $7,550.

15k: Portrait Mode: 1974 Alfa Romeo GT Veloce 2000

It is hard to look at pictures of an Alfa Romeo GTV 105/115 series and not fall in love...well, unless the pictures are taken in blow-your-brains-out 21:9 ratio portrait mode, but even that cannot tarnish the beauty of a red GTV. (DT has cropped the photos to make them more user friendly for human beings and dogs).  Find this 1974 Alfa Romeo GT Veloce 2000 for sale in Beverly Hills, CA currently bidding on ebay for $13,100 with a few hours to go.

5k: Recent Graduate: 1973 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce, Original Owner

The Alfa Romeo Spider is forever ensconced in common memory as Dustin Hoffman's ride from the graduate...no not Anne Bancroft, his other ride, the...errr...topless one.  Regardless, you don't need drive across the Bay Bridge in the wrong direction to enjoy the simplicity of open top classic like the Alfa Spider.  Find this 1973 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce for $7,400 from its original owner in Camarillo, CA via craigslist.
