Tortoise Style: 1960 Vauxhall Victor Super

Vauxhall Iron Works was founded in the UK way back in 1857, but it wasn't until 1903 when they built their first car...a small 5 horsepower buggy with 2 forward gears and a tiller style steering setup.  Fast forward to 1925 and Vauxhall was acquired by General Motors and it was slowly (but surely) GMified to the point that today it sells badge engineered Opels into the United Kingdom...but there was a time when a Vauxhall was a cool piece of metal that was sold into European markets. Particularly cool was the Victor, which had the styling of a '55 Chevy but at a 7/8ths scale and with a 1.5 liter engine.  This is one of the few cars that will make a Volkswagen Beetle feel fast. Find this 1960 Vauxhall Victor Super offered for $3900 in Bangor, PA via craigslist. Tip from ME.

1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super Berlina

Tipper Erik202 sent in a tip the other day and included the suggestion that DT does an "Italian" week special...and I thought to myself, this is a great idea, but I need to make sure that my team of editors agreed to this suggestion.  So, I turned to the teddy bear on my left and the bottle of Jim Beam on my right and then realized that I didn't need their permission to do an Italian week and I'm pretty sure the teddy bear is trying to horn in on my gal.  I might have to loosen his lips with a few pints of JB before he admits it, but I've got nothing but time...because, after all, it is Italian week.  Find this 1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super Berlina offered for $8000 in Escondido, CA via craigslist. Tip from Erik202.

Working Man’s Rolls-Royce: 1962 Humber Super Snipe

Wood, real leather, and a vast bonnet concealing a big six. Such was the romantic image of Rolls-Royces, Rovers and Jaguars in the 1960s; bastions of the establishment sweeping their owners down old English lanes. But what if a Silver Shadow is a bit too common for you, a Rover’s image too old, or a Mark II too much of a bank robber’s car? Or, you don’t have the money for one of those aristocratic dowagers? Then the Humber is for you, the Rolls-Royce for trade-unionists. Find this 1962 Humber Super Snipe in Wodonga, Victoria, Australia, for $5,000 AUD ($3800 USD) via gumtree.com.au.

10k: V For Verbose: 1949 Buick Super Woody Wagon Could Be Redone As A Gorgeous 1949 Cadillac, Oldsmobile 98 or Buick Roadmaster

This morning, DT's resident Buick lover, Hunsbloger, sent me a message.  It was short.  Something was wrong. Hunsbloger is never short.  Hunsbloger is so wordy, he can't send text messages, let alone tweets. His family Christmas cards unroll onto the ground like Santa's list. I always wear adult diapers when we go to car shows together where there might be a Buick present because he is gonna rattle off worthless interesting facts until Pontiac is brought back from the dead.  Not the brand, but the frozen head of Albert Hamilton Pontiac the 3rd is resuscitated by some unknown futuristic technology.  Not today.  Today the message was "Something wrong.  No words." The DT brain trust initiated Emergency Protocol Number 7 and started scouring the internet for clues to Hunsbloger's sudden onset of mute-ism. And then it came.  Words flowed like a dam had ruptured at the headwaters of the river Styx and we were powerless against the onslaught.  Knowing there was only one way to fix our fallen comrade, I forwarded the link for this 1949 Buick Super Woody Wagon Could Be Redone As A Gorgeous 1949 Cadillac, Oldsmobile 98 or Buick Roadmaster currently bidding for $8,400 reserve-not-met with 5 days to go. And then the reply:  "He has sucked all of the words out of the universe.  I'm depleted, I need to rest, to store up.  Its like a wizard who has performed too many spells in one day, and I need a booster."  Hunsbloger was back, but will he ever be the same?

15k: Seller Submission: 1973 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 Super

The Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 super should not be confused with the larger 1750 Berlina.  Although they shared many components and styling, the 1750 Berlina rides on a longer wheelbase and isn't as fun in the curves.  The Giulia 1300 on the other hand was the spiritual predecessor to fun sport sedans like the BMW 1600/2000/2002 and Datsun 510 - and combined a lightweight chassis with an eager engine.  Find this 1973 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 Super offered for $16,000 in Pensacola, FL via craigslist.  Seller submission from Josh T.
