The Alfa Romeo Alfetta (tipo 116) was released in 1972 as a replacement for the Giulia based 1750 Berlina, even though a slightly larger sedan with the Berlina name (the 2000) was produced concurrently with the Alfetta. Although Giuseppe Scarnati designed the original Giulia sedan, and the 1750 Berlina was a Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone design, the Alfetta fell back into Scarnati's lap and he created something much more modern looking that bares a strikingly resemblance to the E12 BMW 5-series. Use of the Quadrifoglio (four leaf clover) on an Alfa Romeo started on racing cars in the 1920s, but
modern examples (such as 164, and Spider) use the emblem to denote a high

The Giulietta Spider was a compact roadster built by Alfa Romeo from 1955 to 1965, styled by legendary design house Pininfarina. The Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 super should not be confused with the larger 1750 Berlina. Although they shared many components and styling, the 1750 Berlina rides on a longer wheelbase and isn't as fun in the curves. The Giulia 1300 on the other hand was the spiritual predecessor to fun sport sedans like the BMW 1600/2000/2002 and Datsun 510 - and combined a lightweight chassis with an eager engine.
