Happy St Patrick's Day: 1981 DeLorean Snowcat

It is St Patrick's Day, so time to share some Irish built cars...which is pretty much the 1960 Shamrock (10 built...8 are still known to exist) or the DeLorean DMC-12...which YOWZA the prices have been batapulted into silly zone...so now we are stuck with the not-so-Irish...but connected to Mr John Z DeLorean, who is a known connoisseur of white powder...Anyway, for a few years the LMC (Logan Manufacturing Company) built snowcats under the name of DMC (DeLorean Motor Company) and sold them to ski slope groomers and city work crews who needed something to move snow. Find this 1981 DeLorean Snowcat  in Essex Junction, VT via craigslist.

20k: Luck of the Irish: 1981 DeLorean DMC-12

Happy St Patrick's Day to everyone, lets kick of this festival of drinking, driving (but not at the same time please!), and singing with a tip from reader Andy L who writes: Dear Staff at Daily Turismo, Here is a selection for your St. Patty's Day.  I can't think of a more well-known Irish-produced car and this one comes closest to making the DT price cut.  It seems like a pretty good example of a DeLorean for the money.  These are getting more and more valuable as those who saw Back to the Future as a kid on VHS reach mid-life crisis age.  Who wouldn't want to own one of these, if only for a little while?  Find this 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 offered for $25,000 buy-it-now or make-offer here on eBay, located in Hollywood, FL.

DTO: St Irenaeus Day Special: 1960 Shamrock

Every year around St Patrick's Day, we start scouring the web for odd ball cars from the Emerald Isle, but are always end up with a collection of DeLoreans and other assorted junk to feature.  There are certain oddball rare Irish built cars that just aren't for sale on a regular basis, like the Shamrock, of which a total of 10 vehicles were produced and 8 are accounted for today.  So, it isn't St Patrick's Day, but it is the feast of St Irenaeus (a peacemaker and keeper of arcane knowledge) so lets go with that.  Find this 1960 Shamrock offered for $34,900 from Memory Lane Motors, located in Renton, WA.  Tip from JB1025.

5k: Raw Speed: 2000ish Raw Striker Kit Car

The cost to build one of many available Lotus/Caterham Seven style kit cars can be prohibitive to the budget tinkerer, and finding one that is already assembled is typically the way to go.  The market is better in the British Isles where used examples in various shape are offered for pence on the original pound.  This next St Patrick's day special is an undisclosed model year Raw Striker kit car offered for €4,995 euros ($6,946 USD at time of printing) in Ireland via Irish Kit Car Club forums.

10k: Basket Full of Snakes: 1981 DeLorean DMC-12

The DeLorean DMC-12 is certainly the most recognized car to be built in Ireland, closely followed by the 1960's Shamrock and the 1980s TMC Costin.  That isn't to say that various manufacturers haven't built cars in 20th largest island in the world, including the first VW Beetle to be assembled outside Germany (in 1950) and various Fords, Hondas, BMCs - but the DMC-12 was one of the few built for export.  Today we wish you a Happy Saint Patrick's day and hope you can banish the snakes out of these two basket case DMC-12s before you get bitten.  First up is this 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 offered for $16,900 in Redlands, CA via craigslist.

5k: St Patrick's Day: 1995 Alfa Romeo 164 Quadrifoglio

Saint Patrick was born somewhere in 5th century Roman occupied Britian (England or Scotland based on various sources) and spent a few years in captivity as a young man to Irish pirates, before returning as an adult and missionary to the emerald isle.  It is ironic, therefore, that the patron saint of Ireland isn't even Irish.  What better way to segue into a St Patrick's day special that also isn't Irish.  Find this 1995 Alfa Romeo 164 Quadrifoglio for sale in Signal Hill, CA currently bidding for $4,050 reserve-not-met with 6 days to go.
