Pininfarina Penned: 1968 Peugeot 204 Convertible

I bet you couldn't tell me what the best selling car in France was between 1969 and 1971?  I'll give you a hint, it wasn't the Volkswagen Beetle or the Ford F-Series, but it was a small Pininfarina designed French sedan from Peugeot called the 204.  You won't see many of these around the streets of the USA, and they aren't monstrously expensive. Find this 1968 Peugeot 204 Convertible offered for $12,900 in Chicago, IL via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

MTREC Just Kicked In, Yo: 1991 Honda Beat

Juan Pablo Augustus Pininfarina put this mighty pen to paper many times over the years to design some beautiful cars..exotics, mid-engine things and the like...but few people know that old John-Pap-Pin (as his friends in the pub called him) designed the 1991-1996 Honda Beat.  Find this 1991 Honda Beat here on eBay bidding for $1300 with $3,200 buy-it-now located in Seattle, WA. Tip from Hugh.

A Force to be Re-Con'd: 1989 LaForza

When you think Tom Tjaarda, Ford V8, Italian, the Pantera may come to mind. But add the words "Iveco chassis" and "4x4" and the allure turns to confusion. Why pay nearly $2,000 for just any SUV when you could have the Maserati Biturbo for the PTA crowd?  Find this 1989 LaForza for sale in Miami, FL for $1,800 via craigslist.

11k: Bangle'd Bouffant: 1997 Fiat Coupé 20v Turbo

The Fiat Type 175 Coupé had flame surfacing, character lines on character lines, cuts, scallops, recessed taillights, and a processed (prolapsed? Don't think about it) fuel filler cap. Whether all the doo-dads intended to complement or distract from the vehicle's odd proportions is anyone's guess. However, at 22 years after the car's initial release, I can confidently say that the whole package has aged like Erkel glasses. But this ugly duckling is a rare bird in these parts, so here it is: a 1997 Fiat Coupé 20v Turbo for sale here on eBay in Buffalo, NY for $10,999 buy-it-now with five days to go via eBay.

10k: Feeling Blue: 1966 MG MGB GT

The MGB GT was a hardtop version of the iconic MGB roadster and was produced with only minor changes from 1965 through 1980.  The long life cycle can be attributed to the inherent goodness of the car and the dogged determination of the inhabitants of that dreary island -- if it was good last year, it'll be good again next year (see Austin Mini for reference).  This is an early MGB GT, which means it has attractive early chrome bumpers and a reasonable ride height, plus it is blue (which we already know is the best color for cars).  Find this 1966 MG MGB GT found here on eBay offered for $13,900 buy-it-now or make-offer, located in Cashiers, NC.

20k: Pininfarina Project: 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word "classic" as: serving as a standard of excellence :  of recognized value, traditional, enduring.  The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider is a classic in every sense of the word.  The convertible (spider) design by Pininfarina was launched in 1958 and is just as pretty today as the day it was relased.  It might not be stunningly gorgeous like an E-Type Jaguar, or manly like a C2 Corvette, but it simply oozes class.  Unfortunately, most examples are proportionally priced to the level of cool, so you'll need to find a project if you want one for cheap.  Find this  1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider currently bidding for $20,600 with 1 day to go, here on eBay located in Brunswick, GA.  Tip from Ignacio.

15k: Trade For Milling Machine: 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider

The Giulietta Spider was a compact roadster built by Alfa Romeo from 1955 to 1965, styled by legendary design house Pininfarina.  The Spider is a classic by any definition and finding any example that isn't rusted to pieces for under $20k is rare.  Find this 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider offered for $16,500 somewhere in Canada via craigslist.  Tip from Fueltruck.

10k: Siren Song: 1964 Lancia Flaminia Pininfarina 2.8 Coupe

There are many classic cars that call to gear-heads like sirens among the rocks.  You may only catch a fleeting glance of a red valve cover or flipper splashing into the ocean, but the end effect is the same; you are drawn into shallow waters and marooned on a deserted island as all your belongings get washed out to sea.  Don't do it.  Don't buy this Lancia, it is going to make you go broke.  Whatever you do, don't visit ebay to see the listing for this 1964 Lancia Flaminia Pininfarina 2.8 Coupe currently bidding for $7,600 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go.

10k: 1993 Cadillac Allanté; Italian Style, Fail-Wheel-Drive

The Cadillac Allanté was another attempt by an American automaker to bring some European style and allure into its American brands.  It wasn't a failure of epic proportions like the Chrysler TC by Maserati or the AMC Eagle Premier, in fact it could be considered one of the best front wheel drive luxury GT cars to come from an American manufacturer...a dubious honor indeed.  This 1993 Cadillac Allanté convertible is for sale in Lakeland, FL, currently bidding on ebay at $8,501 with 6 hours to go.
