Buick V6 Ready for Assembly: 1973 MGB GT

Fastback Style: 1974 MG MGB GT

When you add the GT designation to something like a Mustang, it means you get a V8, but with the classic MGB it means you got a hardtop.  Torsional rigidity and weatherproofing goes up when you add the Pininfarina designed greenhouse, but the best part is you get a fastback lift-gate to maximize your storage access and cool factor. KA24DE Power: 1970 MG MGB GT

I'm never sure if it should be called an MG B, MGB, or MG MGB, but the robust little roadster and 2+2 fastback was built by British Motor Corp from 1962 through 1980.  I tend to sizzle like a vampire when exposed to the sun, so I prefer the fastback GT 2+2 version that was designed by Pininfarina, and today's example has a pleasant surprise under the hood. All Arounder: 1973 MG MGB GT

The MGB was not the Usain Bolt of the automotive world, or even Michael Phelps, dominating at certain things -- but it is more like US Olympian Frank Kugler, who didn't win any gold medals, but is the only competitor in history to have won medals in three completely different sports at one Olympics.  At the 1904 St. Louis Olympic Games, Kugler won a silver medal in men's freestyle wrestling, two bronze medals in men's weightlifting, and one bronze medal in men's tug of war (which, regrettably, has not been an Olympic sport since 1920).  Find this 1973 MG MGB GT here on eBay bidding for $9,225 reserve-not-met located in Naples, FL with 2 days to go.

The MGB seems an unlikely place to find a domestic V8, but for some reason, I keep stumbling onto customized versions.  This isn't the case for all classics, but some combination of engine bay size, production numbers, and vehicle value has turned the MGB (particularly the GT 2+2 hardtop variant) into a car that gets regular injection of V8 power. Properly Done: 1974 MG MGB GT V6

There are many ways to do a bad engine swap on a classic British coupe -- the first way is to downgrade a gloriously complicated V12 with an inline-6 (if I wanted something reliable and uncomplicated I would have purchased a Lexus in the first place), another is to use some horrible slushbox for shifting, and the final downgrade is any 4X4 suspension...no and no...with a side of no...please.  Today's next feature is an example of how to properly pimp your British lightweight without peeving the purists.  Find this 1974 MG MGB GT V6 here on eBay bidding for $6,801 with a few hours to go, located in Salem, OR.

 The MGB has been a frequent visitor on these pages, so much you might think we've gotten out of hand, but this next one is just too good to pass up.  Another V8 swap? 10k: Feeling Blue: 1966 MG MGB GT

The MGB GT was a hardtop version of the iconic MGB roadster and was produced with only minor changes from 1965 through 1980.  The long life cycle can be attributed to the inherent goodness of the car and the dogged determination of the inhabitants of that dreary island -- if it was good last year, it'll be good again next year (see Austin Mini for reference).  This is an early MGB GT, which means it has attractive early chrome bumpers and a reasonable ride height, plus it is blue (which we already know is the best color for cars).  Find this 1966 MG MGB GT found here on eBay offered for $13,900 buy-it-now or make-offer, located in Cashiers, NC.

15k: Restorad! 1970 MG MGB GT V8
