20k: Pininfarina Project: 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word "classic" as: serving as a standard of excellence :  of recognized value, traditional, enduring.  The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider is a classic in every sense of the word.  The convertible (spider) design by Pininfarina was launched in 1958 and is just as pretty today as the day it was relased.  It might not be stunningly gorgeous like an E-Type Jaguar, or manly like a C2 Corvette, but it simply oozes class.  Unfortunately, most examples are proportionally priced to the level of cool, so you'll need to find a project if you want one for cheap.  Find this  1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider currently bidding for $20,600 with 1 day to go, here on eBay located in Brunswick, GA.  Tip from Ignacio.

Restoring a Giulietta spider isn't going to be cheap and it is going to require a large chunk of change to specialty shops.  Mechanically, these cars are simple and you will be able to do much of the work yourself, but if you need a specialist, expect them to live in the nicer section of town...and they bill accordingly. 


The car is advertised as rust free -- which is great, but it will need many new parts, starting with carpets and continuing to ever single rubber piece in the car.  It comes with a 1.3 liter Sprint  engine installed, but also has the original numbers matching engine (in pieces) included if you dig the "matching numbers" thing.

    Looks like a good candidate for a bike engine. Maybe some bedliner or plastidip for the interior.

    Maybe no apparent rust is showing, but the Tin Worm likes Italian steel and eats from the inside out. These(as beautiful as they are)consume cubic dollars faster than almost any other project of this era.
