Truck Conversion: 1999 Jeep Cherokee

The list of small 4-door pickup trucks isn't very large -- a fact pointed out by the builder of this custom machine, who writes: I built this because I have always felt that the US manufacturers totally missed the boat on the mid-size 4-door pickup market. They built some – but they were all weird-shaped, weird-looking, independent front suspension garbage with too much motor and not enough simplicity. Dodge Dakotas, Chevy Colorados (or those really rare and weird 4-door S10s) Ford Exploder, etc. At least the Fords were kind of square for a while.  I love the idea of a rugged 4-door pickup and this thing with a built-in tool/gun/ammo box looks ready to rock. Find this 1999 Jeep Cherokee offered for $6500 in Omaha, NE via craigslist. Tip from ISAUN.

Spider Eyes Cherokee: 1986 Jeep Wagoneer Limited XJ

In 1984 the XJ generation of the Jeep Cherokee was released into the public, but it used a modern unibody monocoque instead of the traditional body-on-frame setup of the previous Jeepy things. This meant it was lighter and less clunky to drive around town than previous huge Jeep monsters, but still off road capable because it all wheel drive and torquey motors.  However, this next Cherokee is no ordinary example, if fact it is a Jeep Wagoneer Limited, not related to the Grand Wagoneer, but a highly optioned XJ with a unique headlight setup that makes it hard to miss. Find this 1986 Jeep Wagoneer Limited XJ offered for $8,500 in Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.

Blue Thursday: 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport XJ

To the average guy walking down the street, they probably won't take a second glance at a 20 year old Jeep Cherokee, but to a certain subset of the population, this next feature is the bee's knees.  Personally, I'm ambivalent and would probably get a 4Runner if I needed a 4X4 SUV...but, why drive boring when you can drive turismo?  Find this 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport XJ here on eBay bidding for $6,001 with 3 days to go, located in Woodbury, NJ.

10k: Clean XJ: 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport

The XJ generation Jeep Cherokee defined a new standard in compact sport utility vehicles.  It was a capable off roader that eschewed body-on-frame roughness for a unibody chassis that gave it relatively good fuel economy and good road manners.  Naturally, every weekend warrior, little league dad, and soccer mom wanted one and even the US postal service got a version with right-hand drive for delivery routes.  Find this 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport here on eBay currently bidding for $9,301 with 4 days to go, located in Woodbury, NJ.

15k: Much Wampum: 1977 Jeep Cherokee Chief SJ

The SJ series of the Jeep Cherokee was built by AMC from 1974 through 1983 in 2 and 4 door wagon configuration.  The Cherokee has the dubious honor of claiming to have been the first vehicle to use the term "sporty utility" in its sales brochures, although the SJ chassis is light on sport and heavily tilted to the utility side of the spectrum. Find this 1977 Jeep Cherokee Chief here on eBay currently bidding for $14,199 with 1 day to go, located in Boulder, CO.

10k: Low Mile 4X4: 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ Sport

Launched in 1984, AMC's XJ generation Jeep Cherokee set the standard for a new era of compact sport utility vehicles (SUVs).  Other manufacturers raced to copy the fast selling unibody off-roader and only caught up when Chrysler dropped the ball on continuous improvement.  It may have been whoa in 1984, but by Y2k it was meh and was replaced in 2001 with the bleh Jeep Liberty.  Find this 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport here on eBay currently bidding for $10,200 with 3 days to go, located in Woodbury, NJ.

5k: Sweet Utility Vehicle: 1974 Jeep Cherokee SJ 2-Door

The SJ generation Jeep Cherokee was a 2-door 'sporty' version of the Jeep Wagoneer station wagon.  The Cherokee also has the dubious honor of claiming to have been the first vehicle to use the term "sporty utility" in its sales brochures, although the SJ chassis is light on sport and heavily tilted to the utility side of the spectrum.  Find this 1974 Jeep Cherokee SJ for sale Corona, CA for $4,500 via craigslist.

5k Flash: 1989 Jeep Cherokee; Cherokeemino!

In 1984 the XJ generation Jeep Cherokee set the standard for a new era of compact sport utility vehicles (SUVs).  Other manufacturers were surprised by success of the AMC designed unibody off-roader and scrambled to develop all manner of copycats.  This 1989 Jeep Cherokee has been given a custom Cherokeemino rear end treatment and is for sale in a snowy part of Idaho for $3,999 buy-it-now on ebay.
