2 Door & Rover V8: 1972 Volvo 145 Custom Wagon

The Volvo 140 series was introduced in 1966 as a replacement for the aging PV544/Duett and Amazon families, and you could get a 2-door coupe 142, 4-door sedan 144, and 5-door wagon 145.  However, unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, this next one is a 143.  Find this 1972 Volvo 145 Custom Wagon offered for $6,900 near Boston, MA via craigslist.

Rare 2-Door: 1969 Toyota Corona Hardtop

The T40 generation Toyota Corona is by all accounts a good looking Japanese classic, and it should be with design input by the legendary Battista "Pinin" Farina himself.  We've featured various Corona sedans and wagons over the years on DT, but never before a Corona 2-door hardtop.  Find this 1969 Toyota Corona 2-Door Hardtop offered for $8,000 in San Pedro, CA via craigslist.  Tip from John.

Maybelline: 1955 Ford 2-Door Club

In 1955 Ford introduced a new stylish full sized sedan to keep up with Chevrolet's fast selling Bel Air, but it was mostly similar to the 1952 Ford under the skin.  The base engine was the Mileage Maker 6, but you could pay a few more bucks to get a V8 -- however, today's example has a much more modern Ford V8 under the hood.  Find this 1955 Ford 2-Door Club offered for $16,500 located in Cape Coral, FL via craigslist.  Tip from dascpcu.

The Hardtop Life: 1962 Buick Skylark

For the 1961 model year, General Motors introduced a new trio of compacts built on the original GM Y-chassis -- the Pontiac Tempest, Oldsmobile F-85, and Buick Special.  Buick introduced a luxury 2-door version mid model year known as the Special Skylark, and in 1962 the Skylark became its own model (again), now available in 2-door coupe and 2-door hardtop (pillar-less) versions.  The era of the compact Skylark ended after 1963 when the Skylark name was moved up-size to the mid-sized A-body, but the early 61-63 Buick Special/Skylark is one of the cheaper 2-door compacts around. Find this 1962 Buick Skylark offered for $10,000 in Houston, TX, via craigslist.

Flathead Power: 1940 Ford 2-Door Sedan

By the late 1930s, Fords use of the Model T/A/K designation had changed, and now they just made a single car, available in Standard and DeLuxe trims and designated by the model year.  This next car is a 1940 Ford, which can be generalized as a 1937 Ford with a few small (year by year) cosmetic changes.  Find this 1940 Ford 2-Door Sedan here on eBay bidding for $10,200 with 6 days to go, located in Woodbury, NJ.

Classic Wagon: 1971 Opel Kadett B Wagon

The Opel Kadett was a small family car manufactured by the GM's German subsidiary Opel starting way back in 1936.  The modern Kadett started its A, B, C... nomenclature with the 1962 release of the Kadett A, and this next one looks like a really interesting driver for the cash.  Find this 1971 Opel Kadett Wagon offered for $4,500 in the SF Bay Area, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

10k: Blue Beauty: 1972 Datsun 510 2-Door

The Datsun 510 was part of the Nissan Bluebird lineup sold in the US market from 1968 through 1973.  The sheet metal was penned by Datsun in-house designer Teruo Uchino and the suspension was cribbed from the BMW 1600/2000/2002 -- MacPherson strut in front and semi-trailing arms in the back.  It was the poor man's BMW when new and given the recent run up in BMW 2002 prices, that name rings true today.  Find this 1972 Datsun 510 2-Door offered for $8,500 in Rochester, NY via craigslist.  Tip from Sam.

10k: Ex-CHP Cruiser: 1959 Dodge Coronet 2 Door

This next feature is a gentle reminder of a time when the police were here to help, and resembled Andy Griffith instead of members of the 75th Ranger Regiment.  This car was originally sold to the California Highway Patrol for active duty, one of 350 such cars delivered in 1959.  Now it has been repainted and has magnetized stickers advertising the Holmen Police, but they can be removed for legal cruising.  Find this 1959 Dodge Coronet 2 Door Post currently bidding for $8,200 reserve-not-met with 1 day to go, located in Holmen, WI.

5k: Sport Compact: 1976 Fiat 128 2-Door Wagon

The Fiat 128 was engineered by Dante Giacosa and is considered by many to be the grandpappy of today's front-wheel-drive sedans.  Plenty of other OEMs had dabbled in front wheel drive - like Saab's wacky engine backwards on top of trans, Citroen's engine mounted behind trans, and Mini's engine/trans shared sump. But the Fiat 128 was arguably the first major production car to use a transverse front-engine front-drive mounted just above and ahead of the unequal length front axles layout that just about every economy car uses today.  Boring you say, maybe..? You might also complain about eating that PB&J sandwich that your wife makes you every day at 12:01pm, but if you had a chance to relive the experience of enjoying that first PB&J...wouldn't it be fun?  Find this 1976 Fiat 128 2-Door Wagon currently bidding for $1,823 on ebay, located in Auburn, CA with 1 day to go.  Tip from Christopher M.

5k: Poor Man's 2002: 1972 Datsun 510 2-Door

The Datsun 510 has for years been considered the "poor man's" BMW 2002, but the 510 prices have risen recently, particularly the sporty looking two-door version.  Today's example is not a original-condition low-mile survivor and has does have some rust, but the price is good and recent work done almost exceeds the asking price.  Find this 1972 Datsun 510 Bluebird 2-Door offered for $5,000 in San Jose, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

5k: Sweet Utility Vehicle: 1974 Jeep Cherokee SJ 2-Door

The SJ generation Jeep Cherokee was a 2-door 'sporty' version of the Jeep Wagoneer station wagon.  The Cherokee also has the dubious honor of claiming to have been the first vehicle to use the term "sporty utility" in its sales brochures, although the SJ chassis is light on sport and heavily tilted to the utility side of the spectrum.  Find this 1974 Jeep Cherokee SJ for sale Corona, CA for $4,500 via craigslist.
