1943 Ford GTB Cargo Truck

In 1943 the tide in the Pacific was beginning to turn with allied victories on Guadalcanal, the Bismark Sea and Tarawa. Ford, having switched over to producing wartime materials, made a 4 wheel drive 1 and 1/2 ton truck for use by the Navy and Marines in the pacific. Ford built 15,000 of the GTB-G622 cargo truck for the Navy and Marines.  Nicknamed the "Burma Jeep", it was designed for the Burma road campaign, but saw use throughout the Pacific and even into the Korean War.


This truck is said to be restored to original condition, but other sites seem to indicate that the US Navy specified all GTB's under Navy contracts were to be painted "Ocean Gray" and not the olive drab seen here.
