A Ford By Any Other Name: 1974 Mercury Capri

Prices for the Mercury/Ford Capri have been historically low for a number of reasons. First was Fords inexplicable placement of the Capri at Mercury dealers when it was a Ford in Europe and sold well as a Ford over there...but in 1974 it was objectively a wayyyy better Mustang than the Mustang II and somebody in the Ford product planning group managed to get the Capri festooned with a Mercury badge.  The years since haven't been any nicer, because car guys have prefered to drive Opel Mantas and Nissan Z cars...but if you open your heart (and eyes) you might find that the little Capri has something unique to offer. Find this 1974 Mercury Capri offered for $4995 in Mason, TX via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Fast And Not Furious: 2006 BMW 650i Convertible E63

The E63 generation BMW 650i was a monstrously expensive convertible built in the time of monstrous excesses of Teddy Bear Stearns, Lehman Brodudes, and Merrill Lynchmob.   The green wave hadn't yet electrified much of the fleet and pedestrian impact standards had only slightly altered the pointy noses of supercars back in 2006 when this next car left the assembly line.  In the twelve years since driving off the dealer lot this car has lost more than seventy THOUSAND dollars of value to depreciation (excluding price of options, fees, gas guzzler tax, luxury tax, etc) but still looks like a million bucks to me. Find this 2006 BMW 650i Convertible offered for $8995 in Houston, TX via craigslist. Tip from Jeff.

K9 Police Interceptor: 2007 Dodge Magnum

If you enjoy the thrill of a good ride in the back of a police car, then this next ride might be right for you.  You'll also need to enjoy holding your head out of the window at speed and chasing tennis balls, because only a canine will be happy in the metal back seat enclosure of this ex-Police K9 wagon. Find this 2007 Dodge Magnum offered for $4500 in Phoenix, AZ via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Implausible Deniability: 2002 Ford Thunderbird Neiman Marcus Edition

If the universe is indeed as infinitely large as the astrophysicists and heliocentric heretics would have us believe, then Dean Koontz was on to something when he wrote: “In an infinite universe, anything that could be imagined might somewhere exist.” Imagine for a minute that in 2002 when Ford brought out its retro-styled 78th generation Thunderbird that they built a Neiman Marcus limited edition to celebrate third world sweatshops and corporate acquisitions and mergers...or something.  Anyway, find this 2002 Ford Thunderbird Neiman Marcus Edition offered for $18,000 in Sherman Oaks, CA via craigslist. Tip from...I dunno where I found this thing...but I think somebody sent it in...

Not Bad: 1994 Saab 9000 Aero

This next car comes as a tip from Johnny Bouncewell who writes:  Dudes--- I certainly don't need another high strung Saab turbo in my life with the Viggen gettin all dusty in my shop but I know someone else does. Sounds like it was owned by a respectable Saab nerd, as most are. What gave it away? The spreadsheet of parts, cost and source. Seriously, 2k for a teal, turbo'd, and tri-spoke equipped gentlemans express. Not bad.  Not bad at all Johnny.  Find this 1994 Saab 9000 Aero offered for $2000 in Nob Hill, NM via craigslist.

Son of a Busa: 1973 Saab Sonett w/ Hayabusa engine

Do you know what you can get at a new car dealership for $10k?  Absolutely nothing. Even the most bare bones, teeth rattling, manual everything equipped Nissan Versa 4-door will set you back $13,000 before taxes, license, registration, and stupid tax.  To add insult the injury, the Nissan will depreciate faster than an open can of beluga caviar in the hot Florida sun and will be worth nothing in a few years...but FEAR NOT, because Daily Turismo has the answer to your prayers for automotive happiness and depreciation proof assets....errr...maybe.  Find this 1973 Saab Sonnet w/ Hayabusa engine offered for $10,000 in Voorheesville, NY via craigslist.

TBird Turbo Power: 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis Wagon

Whenever someone (usually a new acquaintance, typically in an elevator, or other confined space with little escape like a sauna or an any gender restroom, who was trying to hide in his/her phone) asks me what, exactly, is Daily Turismo?  I pause, and attempt to articulate that it is a blog masquerading as a media company about cars...and specifically a curated collection of cool cars for sale.  But, what I should say is this -- it is a t-bird turbo swapped Mercury wagon from the 80s for a decent price.  Most will go back to their twitter rant, meme like-a-thon, or Pokemon Goat, but a few would get it and perk up.  For those few, I present this 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis Wagon offered for $3000 in Bethlehem, because where else would a chariot fit for a king be located?...oh...not that Bethlehem.  Right.  Bethlehem, PA. Tip from David K.

Poor Little Fool: 1981 Cadillac Eldorado

Sometimes you see a custom car and think "I'm not sure what I'm supposed to make of this..." and other times you think "I'm not even sure what this was made from...".  This next car fits slightly into the latter category with a small dose of the former, because the seller lists it as a Cadillac Deville, but it looks like an Eldorado to me or maybe an Oldsmobile Toronado.  Whatever the original source, this thing does appear well loved, very customized, but oddly named.  Find this 1981 Cadillac DeVille offered for $12,000 in Marion, IN via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Needs Engine Installed: 1966 Renault Caravelle

The Renault Caravelle is another rarely seen-on-the-road French pile of parts that competed with Volkswagen's Beetle and Karmann Ghia with a rear-mounted engine and basic accouterments. However, the Caravelle didn't use an aircooled pancake engine and instead zipped & zoomed around with a watercooled inline-4.  Find this 1966 Renault Caravelle offered for $8000 in Paradise, CA via craigslist. Tip from Sean S.

Callaway Turbocharged: 1983 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI

A brand new Volkswagen Golf will set you back at least $20,910 before taxes, license, registration, etc etc and a GTI starts at $26,415 and something called a Golf R will cost at least $39,785...and I'm certain they are nice cars with all of the safety, convenience, and Apple car play that you'll ever need...but they don't have a golf ball shifter knob and will be worth 1/2 of what you paid in 3 years...so I'm going to recommend a classic Golf for half the price to start.  Find this 1983 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI offered for $15000 near Portland, OR via craigslist.

2200 Miles Per Year: 1984 Porsche 944

As the prices for classic 911s, 912s, and 914s appreciate into the stratosphere of wealth that is ruled trust funders and dot-com boomers, I can't but help search for affordable cars with the famed Porsche cock & sausage crest.  Boxsters and Caymans are still plunging into the depths of affordability...but there is a Porsche that starts with a 9 that you shouldn't say nein to. Find this 1984 Porsche 944 offered for $9000 in Houston, TX via craigslist. Tip from Jeff.

Manual Sportbox: 2003 Jaguar S-Type

Do you remember back in the '2000s when Ford sold a rear drive sport sedan that could be had with a manual gearbox and sporty 3-liter V6 engine...oh yeah...and it was really a Lincoln, but badged as a Jaguar?  Find this 2003 Jaguar S-Type offered for $5,400 in Newton County, AR via craigslist. Tip from Ryan M.

Seriously Tempting Immolation: 1974 Porsche 914

Wisdom isn't something you get from sitting around reading the internet, or is it?  It probably doesn't matter, but I will tell you one thing -- my Grandpappy didn't have the internet when he was a kid, but he'd always say "I don't know much about German cars, but I do know the best ones are powered by Japanese engines!" Find this 1974 Porsche 914 with STI power offered for $13,800 in Castaic, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Eclipse of the Heart: 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster Outlaw Kit

The Porsche 356 was first built in Austria by a company called  Porsche Konstruktionen GesmbH in the smoldering ruins of WWII...but the little 356 isn't simply another inexpensive classic like its Beetle brother, but it is an expensive collectible that requires a leather tool case and a waxed mustache to properly drive...particularly in the Speedster version -- so it is no surprise that there are a number of kit-car versions that use Beetle components for the moving parts.  This next one..however..it is a real Bearded Spock universe weirdo that uses parts from a Mitsubishi to go forward.  Find this 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster Outlaw Kit offered for $12,500 in Port Hueneme, CA via craigslist. Tip from Sean.

Seller Submission: 2004 Volvo V70R

Volvo wagons had always been "cool" to drive around since the 1927 Volvo PV4 hit the streets with a thin diagonal rod holding the "iron mark" emblem in front of the grill.  The PV444 added to that coolness with a modern style wagon and you can't forget the iconic boxy body 145/245/740/940/850 wagons of the past few decades.  You couldn't really call any of them fast....at least not compared to any of their competition.  That all changed with the release of the 2004 model year Volvo V70R that combined a healthy turbocharged 300 horsepower 5-cylinder engine with all-wheel-drive, so you could have your cake and go really fast with it too.  Find this 2004 Volvo V70R offered for $6,500 in Burlingame, CA via craigslist.  Seller submission from Leon.

She Make Me Feel All-Right: 1992 Nissan Gloria Brougham Y32

Assumptions are a bad thing to make...and for years I just assumed that the song Gloria that I'd heard on the radio a thousand times was belted out by Mic Jagger of the Rolling Stones...but the guy who shouts out "She make me feel all-right...and her name is G-L-O-R-I...G-L-O-R-I-A GLORIA" was in fact Van Morrison singing with his group Them.  So the  moral of this story might be that you should never judge a book by its cover...and you might just drive right by this car and assume it was some kind of Nissan Maxima...but it isn't...it is the superb Y32 rear-drive generation Nissan G-L-O-R-I-A GLORIA! Find this 1992 Nissan Gloria Brougham Y32 offered for $6,995 in Seattle, WA via craigslist. Tip from JB1025.

McLaren M6 Kit Car: 1984 Manta Montage

I would seriously drive this next car every single day if I could fit a few car seats into the back...because it combines the basic practicality of a Chevy V8 that'll get you to the grocery store and back with the menacing looks of a McLaren M6 racer. This is the car that'll get your neighbors talking about you behind your back...but those know-nothing do-gooders are stuck in the world of fleasing new sport utility vehicles with high monthly payments and zero street cred -- forget 'em.  Buy this 1984 Manta Montage offered for $18995 in Phoenix, AZ via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.
