OG Saloon: 1966 Jaguar S-Type 3.8 Mk II

I have to admit that I'm not 100% up-to-date on the market for mid 1960s Jag S-Types...but I can tell you without looking that getting a running/driving example for $4k in today's market of over-priced and over-hyped junk (looking at you Porsche 911) is a breath of fresh air.  Actually the air behind this thing will be smoggy cancer causing mud, but you get the drift.  Okay, I just looked it up -- Hagerty says a #4 fair condition version of this car is worth something around $18k, so this is a smashing deal. Find this 1966 Jaguar S-Type 3.8 Mk II offered for $4000 in South San Francisco, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Manual Sportbox: 2003 Jaguar S-Type

Do you remember back in the '2000s when Ford sold a rear drive sport sedan that could be had with a manual gearbox and sporty 3-liter V6 engine...oh yeah...and it was really a Lincoln, but badged as a Jaguar?  Find this 2003 Jaguar S-Type offered for $5,400 in Newton County, AR via craigslist. Tip from Ryan M.

Chameleon Shaguar: 2003 Jaguar S-Type R

Fashionable automobile paint colors come in and sometimes go out of style just as quickly.  I personally love the weird palette of colors found on euro cars from the 1970's because they stand out amongst today's sea of bland shades of beige, grey, and white.  There are some colors that do not look good on any car no matter the model or brand.  Today's Jaguar has a Autoflex invictus paint job that changes seven different colors depending on the lighting.  It would be generous to say this is a polarizing choice in color for a high end British performance sedan.  Find this 2003 Jaguar S-Type R for sale in place, CT for $12,500 via craigslist.

No Chevy: 2003 Jaguar S-Type R

The Jaguar S-Type was introduced in 1999 as an executive offering in the Ford owned era of Jaguar's non-independent epoch.  The S-Type rode on the Ford DEW98 platform that was shared with the Lincoln LS and it wasn't a bad car...but it wasn't a great car either.  So this thing lives somewhere between the E-type and the F-Pace in terms of aesthetics, performance and desirability.  Find this 2003 Jaguar S-Type R offered for $9495 in Houston, TX via craigslist.  Tip from Jeff.

Rare Fun Stick: 2003 Jaguar S-Type

The Jaguar S-Type is an executive class cruiser that was built from 2000 through 2008 on a platform shared with the Lincoln LS.  If you see an S-Type in Europe, there is a good chance that it has a small V6 and a 5-speed manual gearbox, but on this side of the pond most were equipped with Ford semi-automatic slushbox.  A few lucky buyers walked away with a manual gearbox S-Type and you can pick them up for pennies today.  Find this 2003 Jaguar S-Type offered for $4,995 in Santa Barbara, CA via craigslist. Tip from Sean.

1JZ Powered: 2003 Jaguar S-Type

After seeing this next project, one could imagine that if you could wrap a few coils of wire around Sir William Lyons' coffin, you could probably generate enough electricity to offset the potential costs due to Brexit.  Not that the founder of Jaguar would really care about someone putting a Toyota turbo inline-6 into a Ford DEW98 platform Jag from the Ford era... no, Sir William would be spinning in his grave because the project is such a mess.  Find this 2003 Jaguar S-Type with 1JZ power offered for $3,000 in  Mascotte, FL via craigslist.

5k: Cheap Cat: 2003 Jaguar S-Type R

Just 11 years ago, the car you're looking at sold for ten times the price it's selling for today. Someone with a slide rule can measure the depreciation curve of this Jag, which had a base price of $63,000 in 2003. The rest of us can just look at this 2003 Jaguar S-Type R for $6,900 in Pompano Beach, FL and call it a good deal. Words by DT contributor slowcarSLOW-MPGlol.

10k: Fast Cat: 2005 Jaguar S-Type R

The Jaguar S-Type was built from 1999-2008 on a shared platform with the Lincoln LS during Ford's control of the British car company.  The $60k MSRP supercharged R version is the only one to get and featured a 390 horsepower 4.2 liter V8, a six speed gearbox and dinner plate sized disc brakes at all four corners.  Find this 2005 Jaguar S-Type R for sale on ebay for $9,900 buy-it-now, located in Layton, UT. This one has been in a few crashes but the bang/buck is undeniable.
