Police Style: 2013 Chevrolet Caprice PPV 9C3

Thursday Twister: Most Overpriced Car On Ebay

I get it.  Really.  Porsche 911s are awesome.  Coolest car ever.  But the prices these things have been reaching is getting out of control.  Here is a great example, it is a 1977 Porsche 934 race car offered here on eBay for $9,550 buy-it-now...which is crazy because it is beat up and used...and hang...on...you want $10k for just the front right fender?

2 Fer 1: 1981 DeLorean DMC-12

Just what exactly is a DeLorean project anyway...I thought all DeLorea were projects?  The DeLorean  DMC-12 was a gull-wing equipped sports machine built on a fiberglass monocoque and covered by cosmetic stainless steel panels.  The DMC-12 was designed by noted pasta designer Giorgetto Giugiaro and was powered by a mid mounted PRV6...but don't let that hold you back because they are HOT HOT HOT and prices are redonkulous.  Find these 1981 (and 1982) Delorean DMC12 projects offered for $18000 in Sparta (THIS IS SPARTA!) , TN via craigslist.  Tip from Dave.

American Dream: 1970 Lincoln Continental Mark III

I had the opportunity to browse the current Lincoln model lineup at the LA Auto show a few days ago and it wasn't exactly invigorating...or exciting...or impressive.  Frankly, the monstrous Navigator is the only vehicle that makes an impression, but the rest of the lineup is somewhere between meh and blah.  That hasn't always been the situation and there was a time when driving a Lincoln meant you'd made it, like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Elizabeth Taylor, or Dwight Eisenhower.  Find this 1970 Lincoln Mark III here on eBay bidding for $3,950 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

The Taurus SHO (Super High Output) was a limited edition sports sedan built by Ford's Special Vehicle Team, yup the same guys who developed the SVO Mustang, Mustang Cobra, etc.  A first generation SHO may feel slow in comparison to today's big DOHC V6s mounted in every economy sedan (or the twin turbo 3.5 V6 SHO), but back in 1989 when it was new, there weren't many 4-door cars capable of 6.6 second to 60mph and a 143 mph top speed. Only One Around: 1954 Moskvitch 400

What happens when you take the design of the pre-war German built Opel Kadett and combine it with the capabilities of the Moscovskiy Zavod Malolitrazhnyh Avtomobiley (Moscow Factory for Making Small Cars) and the direction from Joseph Stalin himself...?  It isn't entirely clear to me, but I'm sure it involved many knocks on doors in the middle of the night before the Moskvitch 400 got to 50 mph.  Find this 1954 Moskvitch 400 offered for $3,950 in Hunlock Creek, PA via craigslist. Green Machine: 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt

In 2001 Ford partnered with Warner Bros to release a Bullitt edition of the GT Mustang that featured Dark Highland Green paint, and a subtle de-badged look similar to the '68 Fastback flown by Lt Frank Bullitt around the streets of San Francisco.  The package also added a few MPH here & there with some small performance upgrades, but Ford released an even better version of the Bullitt in 2008 with the restyled 5th generation Fastback.  Find this 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt offered for $9995 Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.

Budget M5: 1992 BMW 525i S52 Swap

Modifying cars is a tricky business.  A similar comparison would be a chef adding just the right amount of seasoning to your dinner- too much or too little does nothing good for the food.  DT often pokes fun at dinners where the chef has had a heavy hand with the seasoning.  Today's E34 5 series strikes just the right balance and looks to be delicious meal.  The late model M3 S52 in the engine bay makes makes 50+ horsepower more than stock 525i engine and the M5 spec alcantara euro interior is off the charts cool.  Find this 1992 BMW 525i for sale in Darien, CT for $7,500 via craigslist.
