Smiles Per Gallon: 1968 International Harvester Travelall

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that a vintage international wagon looking thing is universally cool...but it might take someone with a strong stomach to own/drive one for a while.  It's not gonna ride well, it's not gonna drive well, it's not gonna get good fuel economy...but it'll give you more smiles per mile than a joker N95 facemask.  Find this 1968 International Harvester Travelall offered for $11,900 in Bradenton, FL via craigslist. Tip from Dascpcu.

Bearded Spock Universe: 1975 International Harvester Scout II Turbo Diesel

The early 1970s fuel crisis hit small domestic automakers (like International Harvester from Fort Wayne, Indiana) hard and they didn't have the resources to retool their entire fleet to meet the new requirements for emissions and fuel economy.  So...what did they do?  Only the most logical thing, which was to enter a joint venture with BMW to create turbo diesel powered Scout.  At least that what could have happened here...and then the car was transported from that universe via an inter-dimensional wormhole...you got any better ideas?  Find this 1975 International Harvester Scout II Turbo Diesel offered for $4,500 in Oakdale, CA via craigslist.

Bustle-Back Scout: 1980 Cadillac Seville 4x4

The controversial 1981-85 Cadillac Seville was one of legendary GM designer Bill Mitchell's last designs.  The bustle-back rear styling made waves when introduced, but it was the truly horrendous lineup of engines that did the car in. This generation of Seville had three of the most horrendous and half baked engines ever to come out of General Motors: the 350 converted diesel, the displacement on demand V8-6-4, and 4.1 4100 V8.  Today's Caddy goes in an all together different direction by putting the bustle-back body onto a International Scout 4x4 frame and drivetrain. Find this 1980 Cadillac Seville for sale in Lancaster, PA for $1,500 via craigslist.

Twin Engine: 1953 International Rat Rod

If you've got an old car with an inline-6 engine up front the easy route to making power is to replace it with an number of domestic V8s...but the easy way isn't the DT way...no sir...NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT!  The DT way to do things is to take your non-crossflow inline-6 and add another engine side-by-side -- then connect the 12 cylinders with a Rube Goldberg set of pulleys/belts and burn rubber all the way to the bank.  Find this 1953 International Rat Rod here on eBay bidding for $5,000 reserve-not-met located in Pell City, AL with 3 days to go. Tip from FuelTruck.

World Famous: 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass International Series

International can be somewhat of an abused term - think Daytona "International" Speedway. Though international in this case probably meant Mexico, Canada, and the United States, this Quad 4 Cutlass model featured all the comfort of the Calais with a manual gearbox and batmobile cladding. In a time when most domestic offerings had pushrods and velour, the term International was nearly fitting.  Find this 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass International Series for sale in Ormond Beach, FL for $1,975 via craigslist.

The Anomaly: 1956 International Rod

The art of the custom car has changed over the years -- and most of the "custom" stuff you find for sale today is just a bunch of junk from an online catalog randomly put together.  Thankfully there are a few visionaries still around who will build something truly unique...some anomaly.  Find this 1956 International Rod here on eBay offered for $15,500 buy-it-now or make-offer located in Ceres, CA with 4 days to go. Tip from George.

Armored Truck: 1964 International Harverster Loadstar

The next car comes as a tip from Rock On who wrote that the car is the "perfect anti road rage vehicle"...not sure if he meant it'll stop you from being the victim of road rage, or it'll stop you from committing road rage...either way, I like it!  Find this 1964 Harverster Loadstar offered for $14000 in Las Vegas, NV via craigslist.

Snub Six Shooter: 1995 International 4700

In certain parts of the US, a man's truck says more about him than anything else.  You are are a Ford man, a Chevy man or a Dodge man.  You can root for Duramax, Powerstroke or Cummins.  Jacked up to the heavens?  How high do you want to go?  Well, it looks like someone in Waynesville, MO decided to trump them all.  Find this 1995 International 4700 for $8,950 via craigslist.

It's Thorsday, so that means we need to feature a bonus vehicle from Scandinavia, but this next feature is far from the typical snoozy '80s econobarge normally seen on Thorsday.  Find this 1982 Volvo 245 riding on an International Scout chassis offered for $1400 in Sandston, VA via craigslist.  Tip from SeanT.

5k: Stage Left: 1988 International 28ft Box Truck

This next feature can pull a serious Bruce Jenner -- it starts off looking like a run-of-the-mill industrial box truck that looks like it would be driven by guys named Max or Gus and then with the press of a button it turns into an instant stage for your homegrown mobile production of Cabaret. Find this 1988 International 28 ft Box Truck offered for $5,000 in Glassell Park, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Alex V.

15k: Dept of Corrections: 2007 International 4400 Prisoner Transporter

If you need a large passenger bus to fit your Duggar lifestyle (or if you are starting a band, church, cult, etc), you might be tempted to pickup something used from the private shuttle bus market, used school bus, or ex-public transport, but you'd be wrong.  The thing you actually need is a used prison transporter like this 2007 International 4400 offered here on eBay for $18,900 buy-it-now located in Hollywood, FL with 18 days to go.

2k: Roadkill: 1970ish International Harvester D-Series Pickup

Today's roadkill feature comes from DT regular AbnMike who sent us pictures along with the following note:
Saw this International as I was driving today. it's in Butte, MT. Looks to be in great condition, original paint. Some surface rust on the paint that you can see if you zoom the pics but no cancer in the typical places.  It was locked so I couldn't get a good interior shot with the glare from the sun but the interior looked to be in good shape, dash wasn't cracked up.  The seat was covered in a cheap Mexican blanket so not sure what it looks like under but I would assume it's in good shape given the rest of it.
Roadkill is a DT special feature where we post cars that are seen on the side of the road by our readers and staff.  Just be sure to include contact info for the seller if  you submit some roadkill.
