Happy 4th of July: 1965 Studebaker Wagonaire Commander

Happy 4th of July, freedom lovers! The Commander name was first used on a Studebaker way back in 1927 when Calvin Coolidge was president and the FCC (originally the Federal Radio Commission) started to regulate the use of radio frequencies.  Ahh..the early days of the FCC...good times...what could be more American than the ever tightening grip of government agencies regulating America into the future...well...a Studebaker that looks like a wagon but functions like a pickup...that is one innovation the man didn't expect. Take that regulation!! Find this 1965 Studebaker Wagonair Commander offered for $12,500 in Eastern WV via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

It's The 4th of July Somewhere: 2000 Ford Mustang GT 5.4V8

In 1999 Ford restyled the SN-95 generation Mustang in something called New Edge...which, strangely, had nothing to do with the lead guitarist for U2...but incorporated a stealth fighter-esque look into Ford's vehicles. It was a major upgrade over the previous amorphous Mustang that looked to be one part 1st-gen Miata and two parts Pontiac Grand Prix...but it still lacks something that the Fox body had and the 5th-gen S-197 Mustang has...something called 'MURICA!  Oh.  Here.  Somebody fixed it.  Find this 2000 Ford Mustang GT 5.4V8 offered for $5000 in Richmond, VA. Tip from Push Rod.

Independence from Boring: 2000 Jaguar XJ8, LS1 swap

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that not all V8 cars are created equal, that some are endowed by Bob Lutz with certain unalienable rights, that among these are overhead valves, high volumetric efficiency, and the pursuit of smoky burnouts. Find this LS1-swapped 2000 Jaguar XJ8 for sale in Owings, MD for $2,500 via craigslist.

5k: Independence From Boring: 1987 GMC American Short Bus

What better way to finish out your fleet of American Independence themed classics than with a 12 passenger short bus with USA themed paint job.  This 1987 GMC school bus has front/rear heat 86k miles and is offered in South Bend, IN for $2,500 via craigslist.  This would be great for patriots who need to haul people on a budget; like a state assembly campaign, a budding daredevil who needs a bus to jump with his motorcycle or a local militia that is short on funds.

10k: Independence From Boring: 1968 Volvo 1800S

As we continue our Independence day celebration we are happy to feature a car that wasn't born here in the land of the free, but was imported via boat like so many of our ancestors.  The Volvo 1800S was originally born in Sweden but took a long trip on a boat and while its name wasn't mangled at Ellis Island, it did jump through some emissions related hoops to get certified for US road use.  Find this 1968 Volvo 1800S for sale in Mission Hills, CA currently bidding on ebay for $8,100 reserve-not-met with 4 days to go.  Seller submission from Oprah85 on ebay.

15k: Independence From Boring: 1976 International Harvester Scout II Spirit of 76 Edition

The Independence from Boring celebration continues with a piece of rare steel from Fort Wayne, IN built by the International Harvester company around the bicentenial celebrations of 1976.  International celebrated our nations 200th birthday by producing a number of limited editions of the Scout II SUV.  The Spirit of 76 edition and Patriot editions added little more than a few red, white & blue stripes down the side and some higher end options, and only a few were selected (less than 400 in total) making them quite rare today.  Find this 1976 International Harvester Scout II Spirit of 76 Edition for sale in San Francisco, CA for $18,000 via craiglist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.
