In 1999 Ford restyled the SN-95 generation Mustang in something called New Edge...which, strangely, had nothing to do with the lead guitarist for U2...but incorporated a stealth fighter-esque look into Ford's vehicles. It was a major upgrade over the previous amorphous Mustang that looked to be one part 1st-gen Miata and two parts Pontiac Grand Prix...but it still lacks something that the Fox body had and the 5th-gen S-197 Mustang has...something called 'MURICA! The fourth generation Mustang (code name SN95) was sold from 1994 through 2004 in two body styles, the early round and later "new edge". The SN-95 generation Ford Mustang was the first major update to the venerable pony car after the Fox platform replaced the Mustang II. Technically, SN-95 was just an update on the Fox platform and was internally called the Fox-4, but most folks differentiate the SN-95 from the Fox because it was so aesthetically changed. The new body was designed by Patrick Schiavone (who was an automotive designer for Ford, but now is VP of design for Whirlpool...talk about a career circling down the drain) and featured smooth jelly-bean style rounding on almost every surface.
