10k: Triumphant: 1976 Triumph TR6; Minty Clean

The Triumph TR6 was a British roadster introduced in 1969 to replace the TR5/TR250 which was really just a slight change to the TR4...etc etc.  The TR6 did last thru 1976 when it was replaced with the wedge shaped and unloved TR7...but that is a story for another time.  The TR6 is today a well regarded classic with a thriving aftermarket scene and classic British style.  Find this 1976 Triumph TR6 for sale in Pelham, AL currently bidding on ebay for $11,400 with a few hours to go.

15k: All Waxed Up: 1985 Toyota Hilux 4x4, Back to the Future Replica

As longtime fans of anything with wheels, and classic movies featuring wheeled vehicles, we here at the Daily Turismo get excited when real movie cars or even nice replicas come up for sale. There has been a lot of action lately among Back to the Future fans, with hyper-realistic recreations of the DeLorean time machine being created, and one of the originals being restored. Biff Tannen's 1946 Ford Deluxe convertible was sold a few years back - one of the real deal cars from the films. Today's Toyota is not a real movie star but it's a pretty damn good replica and will give you all of the enjoyment of having Marty McFly's prized 4x4 without having to deal with the liabilities and responsibilities of owning an actual piece of Hollywood history. Find this 1985 Toyota Hilux 4x4 Back to the Future replica for sale here on ebay in Jamul, CA for $14.5k Buy it Now or make offer, with a few hours remaining.

10k: German For Manure: 1980 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow

The Rolls Royce Silver Shadow replaced the Silver Cloud and was originally planned to be called the Silver Mist...however, the English word mist translates directly to crap (or manure, dung, rubbish, muck, droppings) in German, so the smart folks at Rolls HQ in Crewe, England decided to change the name to Silver Shadow.  It is a shame they didn't keep the "mist" name as the Silver Shadow hasn't exactly kept price pace with classics such as the Silver Cloud, Silver Dawn or Silver Wraith...quite the opposite and much of the original owners $65,000 is very much in the toilet in today's used car market.  Great for us bargain shoppers, not so great for 80s royalty, despots, warlords, drug dealers and oil executives.  Find this 1980 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow for sale in Santa Clara, CA currently selling on craigslist for $12,000 FIRM.  Tip from the King of Kraigslist...Kaibeezy who says: I suppose the maintenance costs would cover you in Colman's hot mustard and eat you alive, but still... how cool to DD an RR.

5k: UnStanced: 1990 BMW 325i E30 Sedan 5spd

There is an old expression in the used car blogging community and it goes something like "there is no such thing as too many postings for good used E30 sedans."  Okay, in truth there is no such expression because there really isn't a used car blogging community, mostly it is a bunch of dudes who sit hundreds of miles away from each other and type silly nonsense on their computers...a sad sad life...but I digress.  Hey look, something shiny: Find this 1990 BMW 325i E30 sedan 5spd for sale in the SF Bay Area, CA for $5,800 on craigslist.  Tip from our resident Bay Area car expert, Kaibeezy.

10k: Stormy Weather: 1993 GMC Typhoon

The GMC Typhoon was a turbocharged version of the GMC Jimmy compact SUV and offered stunning straight line performance for the time.  A combination of all-wheel-drive and a big displacement turbocharged engine meant the Typhoon would leave more expensive sports cars like the Ferrari 348 and Chevy Corvette sitting in its wake.  Find this 1993 GMC  Typhoon for sale in Taos, NM for $12,500 via craigslist.  Tip from Paul M.

15k: Hot For Sensei: 1971 Datsun 510 SSS Bluebird, FJ20

The Datsun 510 Bluebird was produced from 1968-1973 and sold in the US market as the poor man's BMW 2002. Prices for running/driving 510s are certainly less than the $30k price tags we've seen on unimpressive 2002s. The idea of a $30k 510 is mostly preposterous (ditto on the 2002...) but sometimes a seller puts so much money in modifications into a car that he can ask ridiculous amounts of money.  Find this 1971 Datsun 510 SSS Bluebird for sale in Redmond, WA currently bidding for $16,100 reserve-not-met with buy it now of $30,000 via eBay.

30k DT Exclusive DTO: 1963 Holman Moody Volvo 1800 Racer

The DTO (Daily Turismo Omologato) is a rare or interesting example of a DT-friendly classic or performance vehicle, but priced somewhere above the self imposed DT cap of $20k. We see these cars as weekend fun machines that you probably wouldn't want to drive to work every day, unlike a regular Daily Turismo. Today's DTO feature is none other than a genuine Holman Moody engineered 1963 Volvo 1800 road racer. The car has a long and documented history, has been a privateer track car since new, and was thoroughly reengineered and rebuilt by famed NASCAR racing team Holman Moody in the early 1980s. This is a Daily Turismo Exclusive listing - you won't find it anywhere else! It would be a great vintage racer and a solid investment given the history and unique setup. It is being offered by current owner Mitch Duncan, who has owned it since 1996 and is a retired Volvo Cars North America executive. It is available for $30,000 in the Moosehead Lake region of central Maine. Email us here if you are interested, and we will put you in touch with Mitch.

Previous owner / driver Bobby Ford looking rather dapper next to car No. 55.

27k: ReasonablE-Priced: 1968 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Convertible Series 1.5 Project

Our Sunday pick-me up celebration continues with a car that Jeremy Clarkson once famously called the "car of the century."  "The beguiling, bewitching, beautiful E-Type Jag" isn't often seen on the pages of DT because they are rare (supply) and sought after (demand) classics and typically live in the garages of the well-to-do.  That is not the case with this convertible that is currently bidding for around the MSRP of a well optioned Honda Accord.  Find this 1968 Jaguar E-Type for sale Watkinsville, GA and currently bidding on ebay for $27,000 with 3 hours to go.

5k: Sunday Morning Pick Me Up: 1966 Volkswagen Type 2 Pickup

How about a nice early Sunday morning deal on a Volkswagen type 2 - the kind of basic no reserve eBay auction with reasonable bidding that restores your faith in humanity.  Prices for Volkswagen type 2 (Bus, Vanagon, Kombi, whatever you call it) have taken a significant increase in recent years.  What was once the cheap refuge for barefoot hippies is now an appreciating asset that can be traded for significant Woodstock memorabilia, (community) college tuition or stay at the Betty Ford clinic, but today's feature isn't as high as the typical Type 2 driver.  Find this 1966 Volkswagen Type 2 Pickup currently bidding on ebay for $6,700 with a few hours to go, located in College Grove, TN.

10k: Devil In The Details: 1962 Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass

The first generation Cutlass was a compact from Oldsmobile that shared its A-body platform with the Pontiac Tempest, Buick Special and Chevy Chevelle.  The Cutlass was equipped with a 215 cubic inch all-aluminum V8 that was the eventually morphed into the infamous Buick (Rover) V8.  Find this 1962 Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass for sale in Carencro, LA currently bidding on ebay for $7,500 with a few days to go.  Tip from Oldsmobuick.

5k: Japanese Ponycar: 1999 Honda Prelude Type SH

The fifth generation Honda Prelude was available in the US market with a 2.0 liter VTEC equipped inline-4 from 1996-2000.  Most have been turned into "street race cars," lowered to the ground and covered in mismatched body panels, so finding a stock example is indeed a treat.  Find this 1999 Honda Prelude Type SH for sale in Napa, CA for $6,200 via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

5k: Groovy: 1971 Datsun 240Z, Ugly Duckling

Occasionally a Hollywood film comes out that is grotesque in its form, but somehow brilliant and surprisingly profitable.  Evil Dead II (1987) is a great example, a budget horror film written/directed by Sam Raimi before he hit the big time with 8 figure budgets and Toby McGuire in tights.  The movie stars a young Bruce Campbell battling the undead with a shotgun in one hand and chainsaw as his other hand...anyway, it is gruesome and awesome in one 16:9 frame and grossed almost double its production cost.  Today's feature car is similar in its ugly duckling looks, but excellent potential if you just lower your standards and squint your eyes a bit.  Find this 1971 Datsun 240Z for sale in Hollywood, CA for $5,500 via craigslist.

5k: Larry Shinoda's Parts Hauler: 1969 Datsun Pickup W/ Boss 302 V8

Larry Shinoda (1930-1997) was the Los Angeles born son of Japanese immigrants, who, after spending some of his youth at the Manzanar War Relocation Camp (...not the best of times), brought into the world iconic designs such as the 1963 Corvette, Z/28 Camaro and Corvair Monza GT.  He left GM around 1968 and is best known for his work on the '69 Boss 302 Mustang, a performance and cosmetic package that brought TransAm racing style and performance to the streets.  If Mr Shinoda ever drove a pickup truck, we expect it would look a bit like today's feature.  Find this 1969 Datsun 530 series Pickup with Ford Mustang Boss 302 V8 for sale in Tacoma, WA for $7,500 buy-it-now on eBay.  Tip from Oddimotive who mentioned it in the comments to the Maverick Boss 302.

DTO: Special E32: 1989 Alpina B11

The E32 generation BMW 7-series was built from 1986-1994 and offered high-end luxury cruising for 5 adults, but it was more of a car to be chauffeured than driven.  Enter the Bavarian turner Alpina, which created hopped up versions with tuned engines, stiffer suspensions and sporty body kits.  Find this 1989 Alpina B11 for sale from North Shore Autosport, located in Chicago, IL for $23,800 asking.  As seen on germancarsforsaleblog.com.

5k: Let's Fly Way Up To The Clouds: 1980 Plymouth Volaré Duster

In his classic rendition of the song "Nel blu, dipinto di blu" (composed by Dominico Moduguno) rat-pack member Dean Martin belts out the stirring chorus "Volaré , oh oh oh, Cantare, oh oh oh oh!", which translates to "Flying, oh oh oh, Singing oh oh oh."  To be clear, this was a love song and the man born Dino Paul Crocetti (but reborn as the King of Cool) wouldn't have been caught dead in a Plymouth Volaré or its twin brother the Dodge Aspen.  Dean was probably driving a Maserati and greasing his hair with bacon fat when the Aspen/Volaré was being praised by automotive pundits.  In the best print media tradition of advertising money = awards the Aspen/Volaré won the 1976  Motor Trend "Car of the Year" prize and then proceeded to be plagued by quality defects and recalls that almost caused Chrysler to go bankrupt.  Classic stuff.  Find this 1980 Plymouth Volaré Duster for sale in Goehner, NE (population 154 and home of the Chez Bubba Cafe)   Tip from Andy L.

10k: Stuck In Neutral: 1962 Unimog 404, Troop Carrier

The Unimog (short for "UNIversal-MOtor-Gerät", Gerät meaning machine in German) is a multi-purpose medium duty truck originally built in post war Germany for "agricultural" purposes due to the post war anti-military production sanctions on the country that had twice tried to take over the world in the span of 25 years.  Sanctions or not, there was little to stop the engineering might of the guys who designed rocket (Me-163) and jet (Me-262) when everyone else was still trying to figure out how to make propeller planes and Daimler-Benz produced the first Unimog prototype in 1946.  This 1962 Unimog 404 was a Swiss Troop carrier but is now fully legally registered in the USA and for sale in Carson City, NV for $9250 via craigslist.  Seller submission from Tom D.

5k: BYOW: 1979 Pontiac Firebird TransAm Thunderchicken, Low Miles

Yesterday's post on the V8lvo Craigslist Trifecta highlighted three of the four horsemen of the Craigslist apocalypse (CAPT'N CAPSLOCK, Too Much Too List & No Engine/Trans) but clearly missing was the fourth and favorite horseman "Bring Your Own Wheels."  Seriously, who sells a car without wheels?  Apparently lots of people, as we stumble upon pricing based on with/without wheels all over craigslist.  Find this 1979 Pontiac TransAm Thunderchicken for sale by Bring Your Own Wheels in Alameda, CA for $5,000 via craigslist. Tip from Kaibeezy.

5k: SlusHbOx: 1999 Ford Taurus SHO 3.4L V8

The third generation Ford Taurus was another mid-sized front-drive rental fleet reject from Detroit, but Ford put its Special Vehicle Team on the job and they came out with a new generation of the Taurus SHO (Super High Output), this time with a V8 instead of the previous V6.  Find this 1999 Ford Taurus SHO for sale in Fogelsville, PA for $4,600 buy-it-now on eBay.

10k: Coupe DeVette: 1969 Chevrolet Corvette C3, Cadillac Big Block V8 Powered

As luck would have it we just featured a C3 Corvette late last week when a much more intriguing (if less than original) version popped up on our DT-dar yesterday.  The 1969 Corvette engine lineup was a smörgåsbord of cast iron Chevy V8  engines, starting with the basic 300 hp L48 small blocks and going all the way to 430 horsepower L88 big blocks...but through it all, Chevrolet never borrowed an engine from its GM stablemate Cadillac, which is exactly what this seller's dad did back in 1974.  Find this 1969 Chevrolet Corvette with Cadillac big block V8 power for sale in Bullhead City, CA for $9,000 via craigslist.
