Early Bluebird Gets The Worm: 1968 Datsun 411 SSS

The Datsun 510 is known around these parts as a great little late 60s/early 70s Japanese sport sedan (competitor to the BMW 2002, among others) but it did have a predecessor that was equally as cool, but perhaps a bit more obscure.  Find this 1968 Datsun 411 SSS sedan offered for $8,500 in Camarillo, CA via craigslist. Tip from Sean S.

9k: Grey-Market Bluebird: 1988 Nissan Bluebird SSS-R

After delighting back-road thrill-seekers and autocrossers alike, the Datsun Bluebird left the U.S. market, never to be seen again. Back in its home country, it matriculated into the all-wheel-drive rally fighter you see here, until bloat and anonymity set in, and its role in the marketplace was filled by a nameless front-drive appliance. Here at the peak of its career is the SSS-R variant, as legally protected as white-collar crime, thanks to the 25-year law. Find this 1988 Nissan Bluebird SSS-R in Las Vegas, NV for $8,500 via craigslist.

15k: Hot For Sensei: 1971 Datsun 510 SSS Bluebird, FJ20

The Datsun 510 Bluebird was produced from 1968-1973 and sold in the US market as the poor man's BMW 2002. Prices for running/driving 510s are certainly less than the $30k price tags we've seen on unimpressive 2002s. The idea of a $30k 510 is mostly preposterous (ditto on the 2002...) but sometimes a seller puts so much money in modifications into a car that he can ask ridiculous amounts of money.  Find this 1971 Datsun 510 SSS Bluebird for sale in Redmond, WA currently bidding for $16,100 reserve-not-met with buy it now of $30,000 via eBay.
