Nice Shoes: 1987 BMW 325e

The E30 generation BMW 3-series sold in large numbers (2.5 million according to the interweb) from 1982 through 1994 in coupe, sedan, estate, & convertible trim...but you don't often find "showroom condition" examples of the 325 for any price.  Find this 1987 BMW 325e offered for $5900 in Rancho Cucamonga, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Rock On!

Rambler Man: 1956 AMC Nash Rambler

Nowadays, safety and survivability in a crash is a given with all the government regulations and ratings.  But, back when you were only 10 or so years removed from flying a Mustang in combat over Germany, most car buyers didn't give much thought to crash protection.  However, if you did worry about such things, AMC had you covered.  Find this 1956 AMC Nash Rambler for sale in Burnaby, BC for $8,000 USD via craigslist.

Sunset Plates: 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT

This next car comes as a tip from Rod S who writes: Must still be in Radwood mode. Scant details on this, but looks super clean.  Find this 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT offered for $5,500 in Arroyo Grande, CA via craigslist.

What Am I? Part Doo

Last week's What Am I? went unsolved...so it is time to crop a marginally larger version of that same picture and let you guys take another stab.

????: 1992 Detomaso Scorpion Jasper 424 V8

The Detomaso Scorpion is not actually a real thing.  But the seller of this car calls it "European" style and the crude letters on the back call it a Detomaso Scorpion Jasper 424 V8...but I'm not sure if ANY of those words are even remotely accurate....because as best as I can tell, this is a Pontiac Fiero. Find this 1992 Detomaso Scorpion Jasper 424 V8 offered for $11,000 near Miami, FL via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

DT Project Car: 1995 Mercedes C36 AMG

In the fall of last year, the decision was made to sell my long time project car after realizing it did not made sense to have a wagon as a weekend driver.  I had been following a listing for a 1995 Mercedes C36 AMG the better part of six months out on on the very east end of Long Island.  The asking price had dropped low enough to the point where I had to find a way to go see the car.  Armed with my wife and I's ATM cards, I made the hour and a half ride further east after doing some legitimate work out on the island.  The car was for sale at a gas station garage where the owner had clearly given up on the car.  A deal was made for made for $1000 clams and it was towed back to it's new home a week later.  Initially, the thought was to create a 3.6 swapped W124 coupe, but things took a different direction after digging into this car further.

The Stanmobile: 1932ish Custom

The builder of this next car must have been inspired by Johnny Cash...no, not by Cash's dark days of cocaine & alcohol abuse (although that could be a factor) but the 1976 song "One Piece at a Time" where the singer describes a custom built car that used a variety of parts from his factory job at GM.  "Now, up to now my plan went all right, 'Til we tried to put it all together one night, And that's when we noticed that something was definitely wrong. The transmission was a fifty three, And the motor turned out to be a seventy three, And when we tried to put in the bolts all the holes were gone." You get the idea.  Find this 1932ish Custom here on eBay built from 32 vehicles offered for $25,000 in Bay City, MI.

Limo or LMAO? 1992 Buick Roadmaster Limo

After a 33 year hiatus, Buick brought back the Roadmaster name on a full sized body-on-frame station wagon that was assembled in Arlington, TX on a chassis shared with the Chevy Caprice/Impala, Olds Custom Cruiser and Cadillac Fleetwood. The regular sedan version was big, but if you wanted to seat 8 individuals you needed to step up to the wagon...until now.  Find this 1992 Buick Roadmaster Limo offered for $3,500 in Charlotte, MI. Tip from PL.

Hold My Beer: 1973 Volkswagen Thing/Toyota 4X4

Dat Patina: 1976 BMW 2002

The BMW 2002 is on our short list of cars to buy now before they make the jump from classic junk to collectable junk.  Especially keep an eye out for patina'd versions that have been grounded to the ground...like this 1976 BMW 2002 offered for $5,999 in Burlington, MA via craigslist. Thursday Twister: The Best Way To Spend A Weekend

For this week's Thursday Twister, I'm going to share this link of a charity auction here on eBay (bidding for $530 with 1 day to go) for a 2-day drifting class with 1 night RV camping (for 2 guests) and ask -- what is the best way to spend a weekend for a car lover?

Fjord 5.0: 1983 Volvo 245 GL Wagon

The Volvo 200-series was penned with a straight edge and forged with hammers -- and it is equally slow, hip, and cool in 2-door, 4-door, or 5-door wagon...except that the wagon is the best for shoving a Ford V8 up front.  Find this 1983 Volvo 245 GL Wagon with Ford V8 offered for $4,321 in Norfolk, VA via craigslist.  From Cory.

Oil Burner: 1984 Ford Tempo Diesel Manual

Mention the Ford Tempo around the average car guy and he will either shrug his shoulders in frustration or start to get those uncontrollable itches -- you know, the kind you get when you see someone trying to jump start an electric car.  But this next Tempo has a compression ignited surprise under the hood that'll make you feel pins and needles like you've never felt before.  Find this 1984 Ford Tempo offered for $6,000 in Knoxville, TN via craigslist. Tip from PB.

Two Tone: 1967 Saab 95 Wagon

The Saab 95 (not to be confused with the much later Saab 9-5) was a two door station wagon that combined Saab's penchant for funkiness with a 7 passenger layout. Of course, you couldn't get it with a normal engine; the only options were a 2-stroke 3-cylinder or a V4. This car comes with the latter. Find this 1967 Saab 95 offered for $7300 in Highlands Ranch, CA via Craigslist.  Tip from Zach.

Drive Classy: 1980 BMW 528 E12

Picture this: You are cruising down the road in some kind of bland econorollabox that you picked up at a local used car lot from a sweaty guy named Sal, when out of nowhere you are blinded by majestic burst of resplendent silver.  Bright.  So Bright. Fireflies dance before your eyes and a striking centaur with a shimmering golden mane winks in your general direction before boarding the Millennium Falcon and heading off into hyperspace. Gradually, your vision returns to normal you see it...yes...it is a BMW 5-series and it probably costs less than your crapbox.  Time to upgrade your daily driver.  Find this 1980 BMW 528 E12 bidding for $3,051 reserve-not-met here on eBay with 1 day to go, located in San Bernardino, CA.

When Did These Get Cheap? 2008 BMW M3 E90

BMW ditched their traditional inline-6 when they introduced the 4th generation of BMW's M3 -- code named the E90 (sedan) and E92 (coupe).  The purists might have missed the silky smooth balanced BMW 6-cylinder, but the new V8 put out more torque and horsepower than the outgoing model...and the best part is that they re-introduced a 4-door version. The only question I have is...when did the E90 M3 become affordable? Find this 2008 BMW M3 offered for $17,900 in SF Bay Area, CA via craigslist.
