E60 Blues:2006 BMW M5

Someone once told me that every Porsche 928 is a $25k car, its just that the $5k examples will cost you $20k in maintenance.  That might be true for those fancy-pants cars from Stuttgart, but what about a nice Bavarian family sedan? Will this M5 be the ultimate money eating machine? Or, as tipper Jeff S puts it: Is there such a thing as a cheap M5?  If so, how many arms and legs will it eventually cost you and your family? Find this E60 2006 BMW M5 offered for $12000 in Hagerstown, MD via craigslist.

Something Special? 1976 Land Rover Series 3

I'll be that guy who raises his hand and admits he knows nothing about this next model.  I'm really not a Land Rover guy, so I don't know if this next model is rare or desireable or a piece of crap, but I will tell ya that whenever I see one I think "ooohhh, I want that" which means it has something.  But you get to tell me what is special (or not!) about this car.  Find this 1976 Land Rover Series 3 offered for $18000 in Seattle, WA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

BMW Engine: 1968 Mercedes-Benz 250S

I was engaged with DT's Technical Editor CFlo in a spirited battle of "who drives a crappier wagon" (spoiler alert, it is CFlo) when I said with a twinkle in my eye, "you know what DT really needs?" "A 225 degree fahrenheit ethylene glycol enema?" "No...well...maybe...but what I was thinking is that it needs more classic Benzes that are grounded to the ground and powered by BMW inline-6s". "Oh yeah."  Find this 1968 Mercedes-Benz 250S with BMW power offered for $9000 in Morgan Hill, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Camper Special: 1975 International Harvester 200 4X4

To drive this next car you'll need to have a few things; (1) A flannel shirt, (2) A Grizzly Adams beard (3) A fresh tetanus vaccine, (4) A budget for gas and (5) A desire to make friends everytime you stop for your gas.  Find this 1975 International Harvester 200 4X4 offered for $3700 near Seattle, WA via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

What Am I?: Smörgåsbord

This week's What Am I? puzzle is a bit different.  Instead of showing a super zoomed/cropped picture of some car part and having you ID the car, I am going to post a miscellaneous pile of bits and you get to ID what they do and what car they fit into. Fun, right!?!

Speed Holes: 1969 AMC Ambassador Coupe

I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur when it comes to old crappy cars that are painted in an sickly shade of green.  And there is no color like green to bring out the "huh" in a classic car, except maybe for brown, but brown has that "I'm too cool for school" look that all the kids dig these days, so here we are again, back at the buffett of rotten zombie flesh green.  Find this 1969 AMC Ambassador Coupe offered for $4250 in San Jose, CA via craigslist. Tip from Safety Fast.

No Door Handles- 1997 Lexus SC400 Widebody

You could make the argument that the Lexus SC400 is a Supra in a tuxedo similar to the Lincoln Mark IV and Mustang (written up here a couple weeks ago). It is safe to say that most any car is better or more certainly interesting as a widebody.  However, it's the details, details, and details that make or break a modified car.  Today's SC400 has a nice looking Duraflex wide body kit, but is ultimately let down by a few questionable mods that ultimately leave this one almost there.  Find this 1997 Lexus SC400 for sale in Stamford, CT for $8,000 via craigslist.

What Would Niccolò Drive? 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Machiavelli Kit Car

Niccolò Machiavelli is best known for his work titled "The Prince" which was a treatise on ruling the underclasses, which it wasn't published until 5 years after his death and didn't become famous until years later (but the book published during his lifetime was his dialogue called "The Art of War").  Today, we present a car that was also underappreciated in its time, but is getting more attention in the afterlife. Find this 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Machiavelli Kit Car offered for $12000 in Wasilla, AK via craigslist.  Tip from Zach Z.

Chevy V8 Engine: 1974 Triumph Spitfire

This next car comes from tipper Rock On who writes: This has to have one hell of a power to weight ratio!!!  Yeah, it also comes with a giant hole in the hood, which is good or bad depending on your particular feeling about hood "speed" holes.  Find this 1974 Triumph Spitfire offered for $11,900 in La Jolla, CA via craigslist.

Drama! 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix

We've had some conflict behind the scenes at DT...and if those terrible car shows have taught me anything (other than how many folks have more money than sense) it is that drama sells, especially behind the scenes drama.  So, when this next car came in I thought it looked sweet, but DT's resident cub reporter Hunsbloger started griping about the hood pins and the 8-track that is probably not original (they didn't make it big in cars till 1966-7).  Naturally, this turned into a full fledged brawl, complete with insults about not telling the difference between an hardtop and a coupe, but the bottom line is that Huns is wrong and this car is awesome. Find this 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix offered for $12000 in Redding, CA via craigslist. Tip from Terry B.

Dog Leg Manual: 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300SL

The R129 generation Mercedes SL convertible was built on a shortened version of the W124 E-Class sedan platform for a remarkably long 13 year model life from 1989-2002.  It was  available in the affordable inline-6 300SL, roarty 500SL V8 and nutty V-12 600SL - but if you want one with a clutch pedal, you'll have to go for the 300SL.  Find this 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300SL offered for $3,500 near Dallas, TX via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

The Sports Car of RVs: 1978 Ford Chinook Concourse

Somebody (who we will call Mike for the sake of anonymity) offered me a free Winnebago conversion RV the other day.  Totally free.  Just needs some title sorting at the DMV and off I'd go camping and stuff...but the only problem is that if I brought home a free RV, my wife wouldn't be pleased and I'd probably end up living in that funky smelling camper...so I passed and it was snapped up by some other soon to be single man (or woman).  Anyway, I bet she would have a different response if the RV was as clean as much as this next thing.  Find this 1978 Ford Chinook Concourse offered for $8200 in Tacoma, WA via craigslist. Tip from Zach.

Volvo Expert Wanted Near Napa, CA

Tipper and friend of DT Zach Z is currently in the works to buy a mid 60s Volvo in the North Bay Area and he e-mailed us asking if DT could help find a Volvo lover who would do a quick in person inspection for a classic wagon.  Zach is located in the snowy Northlands and won't be able to get South until the yearly two day thaw in mid August...but he did offer free ice (or maybe he said Natty Ice, but I'd go for just good ole fashion solid H2O given the choice) for any Bay Area folks who could help.  Send an email to tips@dailyturismo.com if you want to help and we'll put you in contact with Zach.

Powerglider: 1966 Chevrolet Impala Coupe

The 4th generation Chevrolet Impala was a full-sized body-on-frame sedan from General Motors that was available with multiple configurations (2-door coupe, 2-door hardtop, 2-door convertible, 4-door hardtop, 4-door sedan, 4-door wagon) and many engines (inline six, small block and big block V8).  When introduced in 1965 it set an all time sales record for any vehicle with over 1 million units sold in one year, a record that hasn't been beaten to this day (and probably won't be given the small-sliced segments sold currently...except if Ford ever really implements their insane idea of only selling two cars in the US Market). The '65 was the last year of the iconic small triple rear round taillights, but the redesigned rear end for '66 actually looks better. Find this 1966 Chevrolet Impala Coupe offered for $12,500 in Ft Myers, FL via craigslist. Tip from Dascpcu.

Dynamite Some Motors: 1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD

This next car comes from tipper Safety Fast who writes: Haven't had one of these on the site for a while.  That sounds like a challenge to me, Mr Fast, if that is indeed your real name.  I'll start posting so many DSM classics that you'll think this site should be called Daily Talonismo...but let's start with this 1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD offered for $6,450 in Chico, CA via craigslist.

Crown Vicster: 1999 Ford Crown Victoria

The Crown Victoria was the prefered Police car for decades because it was rugged and perfect for stakeouts, traffic patrol, chasing bad guys, and hauling perps...but this next example will be good for exactly ZERO of those things because it is now a 2-door convertible.  Find this 1999 Ford Crown Victoria offered for an undisclosed pile of cash located in Toledo, OH via Kruznkleen.com.  Tip from Roni.

Pop Up Lights: 1985 Porsche 928

After spending much of a Sunday at an aircooled Porsche event, I can say with some certainty that those things are expensive.  Not just to maintain, but to purchase because supply is low and demand is as limitless as the demand for overpriced flat whites, avocado toast, and man-bun scrunchies.  Anyway, if you want to get into a Porsche for...I dunno...let's say five-large...then you'd better start thinking about something that needs coolant.  Like this 1985 Porsche 928 offered for $5000 in New York, NY via craigslist. From Cory.

Suicidal Doors: 1962 Lincoln Continental

If you want a classic that attracts more attention when parking than driving then the 1961-1969 Lincoln Continental will set you up with more conversations with strangers than dressing like a mime.  And you'll get better gas mileage too.  Find this 1962 Lincoln Continental offered for $13000 in Peoria, AZ via craigslist. Tip from Jeff G.
