The first car to leave a factory (not really a factory, more like a workman's shed...) bearing the Volvo name was the ÖV4 -- the name was an abbreviation for "Öppen Vagn 4 cylindrar" (open carriage, four cylinder). The Honda CRX was an interesting two-seat front-drive economy sports car that really shook up the market when it was introduced in 1983. The Alfa Romeo GTV tipo 105 has a narcotizing waft of affordability (thanks doctordel!) that is only matched by a few cars in this vintage category. The price/value ratio, 4-cylinder engine, 2+2 seating and general coolness is matched by the Volvo 1800 and BMW 2002...but somehow the Alfa's calls louder to me. The Volvo sings a reliable melody by JH Roman, while the BMW hums Wagnerian opera tunes; the Alfa...well, she belts out a siren song that screams like the high F in the Queen of the Night's aria from the Mozart's The Magic Flute.
