We've been critical of the Volkswagen Beetle in the past, mostly for its lackluster performance and tweedle-bleet exhaust note...no to mention sketchy handling characteristics...but that was before we found one with a Ford Mustang I-4 mounted out the back. 3k: BugStang: 1969 Volkswagen Beetle w/ Ford 2.3 Power
We've been critical of the Volkswagen Beetle in the past, mostly for its lackluster performance and tweedle-bleet exhaust note...no to mention sketchy handling characteristics...but that was before we found one with a Ford Mustang I-4 mounted out the back. Find this 1969 Volkswagen Beetle with Ford 2.3 liter inline-4 power for sale in Whittier, CA for $2,900 via craigslist.5k: Newer, Funner, More Reliable: 1968 BMW 1600 w/ Upgraded Inline-4
If posting one BMW New Class is good, then two is better...right? Today's Tii example requires some elbow grease before you can sell it to some rich dude for 30 large, but what if you hate to deal with bad paint? Pick up this 1968 BMW 1600 with M10 power and 5-speed for sale in Dublin, CA for $6,200. Tip from Kaibeezy.5k: Tiime For Resto: 1974 BMW 2002 Tii
The BMW 2002 Tii market has been all over the map recently, with highly restored examples selling in excess of $30k. Perhaps children who fondly remember Mom/Dad hooning to the grocery store finally have the money to Wednesday, September 4, 2013
15k: Big Block Party: 1967 Ford Fairlane 390GT
The Ford Fairlane was an intermediate sized coupe from Detroit, and in big-block form these beasties can be quite a deal when compared to a Mustang or other pony car from the sixties. The fifth generation with its stacked headlights is one of the best looking of the breed and was made only from 1966 to 1967. Find this 1967 Ford Fairlane 390GT for sale in Pueblo, CO currently bidding on ebay for $14,700.5k: Pace Carpocalypse: 1980 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Pace Car, Turbo 4.9 V8
The 2nd generation Pontiac Firebird was sold from 1970 through 1981 - bridging the gap from the height of the muscle car madness through the worst of malaise era. When the gas/oil/emission crisis hit, the power densities dropped and giant winged bird hood emblems took over for actual performance. When the big Pontiac 6.6 liter giant finally was laid to rest it was replaced with a 4.9 liter turbocharged V8 that was down 10 horsepower but up on low end torque. Find this 1980 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Pace Car, Turbo 4.9 V8 for sale in Vancouver, BC for $3,000 CDN. Tip from Bandit on oppositelock.

5k: Strich Acht: 1972 Mercedes-Benz 250C w/Ford V8
The W114/W115 Mercedes chassis was marketed as the "New Generation Models" when released in 1968, but became known colloquially for its model year as the Strich Acht for /8 or stroke eight. The W114/5 chassis was only available with 4 and 6 cylinder engines, but to live up to its nickname, this one has been given a proper V8 transplant. Find this 1972 Mercedes-Benz 250C w/Ford 302 V8 for sale in El Cajon, CA for $5,500 via craigslist.

5k: Track Rat: 2002 Dodge Neon ACR Ex-SCCA
Update 9/3/2013 8 PM PST: The seller of this $4,990 asking ex-SCCA I wanted to thank you for featuring my car recently. It was an awesome surprise to find out it was on there, and the way I found out was even more interesting.
10k: 1966 Volvo 1800S, Minty Green

From Jan. 1 2013: The Volvo 1800 series of sporty two-doors is one of DT's favorite models to feature, if you haven't noticed by now. We love the classic Italian-ish styling of the coupe and the funky vibe of the ES shooting brake equally in their own different ways. Today we've found a very presentable 1966 coupe, which looks great in its pistachio inspired rare original light green color. Being an 1800S model, build quality was improved from the earlier Jensen-built P1800 cars; by this time production had moved and the 1800 was bolted together by Sven and Stig in Sweden. This one needs a bit of attention but seems like a solid platform to build on and improve. It's advertised here on craigslist in Towson, Maryland for $8400 firm. Fix a few things, put on some comfortable driving shoes and shades, and hit the road!Update, Sept. 3 2013: This car is back up for sale here on ebay with the same pictures, for $10,900 Buy it Now or Make Offer. Assuming this is the same owner as the previous ad and it did not sell for $8400, we are wondering whether the $2500 bump in asking price is justified by any recent work done to the car, or whether it just reflects the recent up-trend in the 1800 market. This car has been for sale for almost two years by our count; with any luck there's some room for negotiation in that price.
5k: M-Sport: 1999 BMW 540i 6-spd

The E39 generation BMW 5-series was built from 1995-2003 and was available with fuel sipping diesel engines (but not in North America), silky gas I6s and brutish V8s. The range topping M5 is certainly the maniac's choice, but the 540 is still a competent car for about 1/3 of the price. In fact, the E39 540s are typically cross-shopped with E34 M5s and offer most of the performance of the previous M5 with only a few downsides. Find this 1999 BMW 540i 6-spd M-Sport for sale in Seattle, WA for $7,400 via craigslist. Tip from John S.
10k: Sweet Six: 1999 Porsche Boxster 986, Low Miles, Minty Clean
The Porsche Boxster was released in 1997 to applause and adulation from the motor press corps. They were right to point out that it was the first new car from Porsche in many years and Harm Lagaay's design work was phenomenal. Finally the car was (still is) a blast to drive and nothing beats sound sound of its mid mounted flat six when the top is down. Find this 1999 Porsche Boxster for sale in Newbury Park, CA for $13,500 via craigslist.??k: Loony Labor Donk: A Buick And A Pontiac...
The final Loony Labor Day feature for this year comes out on Labor Tuesday...is that a real thing..? Nope, just made it up. However, there is precedent because the first Labor Day was celebrated on a Tuesday in 1882 - actually the work of a NYC Labor Union flexing its muscles and "sticking it to the man." Similar celebrations occur all over the world but in the form of pre-summer "May Day" celebrations, but the "Man" was anxious to not allow this sort of nonsense to blossom into full scale riots, so he usurped the holiday and created a national "Labor Day" holiday. You can read a dry rendition written by the "Man" himself on the Department of Labor website, but you've probably got better things to do...like read about the pair of Buick and Pontiac Donks for sale in the SF Bay Area via craigslist. Tip from Kaibeezy.Monday, September 2, 2013
5k: Bratzilla: 1980 Subaru Brat Monster Truck
It has been a long Labor Day. Too much food, drinks, family and loony cars all over the normally sane pages of Daily Turismo. This next feature needs no long and meandering soliloquy/introduction other than to state this is possibly the third most dangerous thing to come from Japan, the first is the actual Godzilla and the second is radioactive seawater. Find this 1980 Subaru Brat "Brazilla" Monster truck for sale in Spokane, WA for sale for an undisclosed amount of money or trade for random junk. Tip from Oldsmobuick.5k: Crazy Train: 2001 Cadillac Seville SLS
There was a time when Cadillac built high end luxury cars that were built to give the best driving experience to their owners in their day-to-day lives, and not set lap times on the Nürburgring. Sometime between the golden era and today Cadillac stopped offering the latest and best luxury features and started offering cars that were just good enough for their elderly buyers and recently have been focused on chasing German cars and their lap times. In the meantime companies like Tesla figured out how to build exclusive and exciting cars and Cadillac only soldiers on with something that people in Nebraska (no offense to any Cornhusker readers) and Nürburg would find exciting, but they lost the Hollywood glamour along the way. Thankfully on the used car market, a nasty little devil called depreciation levels the playing field and a used Cadillac from the front-drive-era can be a surprising treat for a pittance. Find this 2001 Cadillac Seville SLS for sale in Hollywood, FL currently bidding for $3,550 with one day to go.

5k: Loony Labor Day: 1946 Seagrave Crap Rod
Welcome back to our annual tradition of featuring the craziest cars for sale on the web, in what we like to call Loony Labor Day. Sometimes the cars will be insane, other times the sellers, and maybe even the buyers. Today's first feature started out as a pre-war fire truck that likely resembled this example, but is now a speed bump scraping, zero overhang rat rod, surely the product of pills or some genetic disorder. Find this 1946 Seagrave Rat Rod with GMC V12 power, currently bidding on ebay for $4,959 reserve-not-met with 4 days to go.Sunday, September 1, 2013
5k: The DeVille Came To Texas: 1985 Pontiac Fiero GT, Cadillac V8 Swap
The Pontiac Fiero was a 2-seat economy sports car built from 1984 to 1988. Early cars used a Chevy Citation rear end and puny 4-cylinder engines (the indestructible, but low powered iron duke) - generating due scorn for pathetic handling and performance characteristics. However, the later cars received a much improved tri-link rear suspension (not designed by Lotus no matter what the many Fiero forum fan boys say) plus V6 power, and today's feature takes that formula up a notch. Find this 1985 Pontiac Fiero GT with 4.9 liter Cadillac V8 power for sale in Cypress, TX for $7,000 via craigslist.5k: Recent Graduate: 1973 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce, Original Owner
The Alfa Romeo Spider is forever ensconced in common memory as Dustin Hoffman's ride from the graduate...no not Anne Bancroft, his other ride, the...errr...topless one. Regardless, you don't need drive across the Bay Bridge in the wrong direction to enjoy the simplicity of open top classic like the Alfa Spider. Find this 1973 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce for $7,400 from its original owner in Camarillo, CA via craigslist.5k: Aurora Haulinassis: 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora with 4.6 Liter Caddy V8 Swap
The Oldsmobile Aurora was released in 1995 as a last ditch attempt to save the brand and prove that it could build cars there were "not your father's Oldsmobile." In fact, Oldsmobile was so intent on separating the Aurora from the tarnished Oldsmobile image that it didn't include any Olds badges on the exterior of the Aurora. Unfortunately, releasing the Aurora was like putting sunscreen on a stage IV melanoma, or (more in-line with Old's driver demographics), like breaking out the paddles on a 92 year old in V-fib. The DNR signs had long been painted on the doors at Oldsmobile's Lake Orion facility, but that didn't stop them from building over 200,000 of the front drive luxury sedans from 1995-2003. Find this 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora with 4.6 liter Cadillac Northstar V8 swap for sale in Rexburg, ID for $2,500 via craigslist.
