The Mercedes-Benz W114 occupies one of those weird niches in the classic car world - it's old enough to be gazed upon fondly through the tint of nostalgia, yet not particularly revered among Euro car guys. Perhaps it's because it's the successor of the hipster-cool Heckflosse / Fintail sedans, but the predecessor of the granola munchers' standard-issue W123, and doesn't stand out as much as either of those generations. Another day, another clean and nice car donated to a charity and sold via eBay...seriously, who looks at a car this nice and says "it is worth nothing to me other than a tax write-off."  The write-offs aren't even that good anymore, since they closed the loop hole where you could declare anything you'd like -- now the actual auction results are used and even if you are millionaire you save 1/3 of the final bidding price?  I don't get it....but I'd like to get this 1971 Mercedes-Benz 250C currently bidding here on eBay for $2,656 with a few hours to go.

5k: Back Like A Bad Case Of German Measles: 1972 Mercedes-Benz 250C

It is always interesting when car buyers/sellers get heaping piles of advice from internet back seat drivers and pundits.  The advice is always well meaning and usually centers around adding value to the car, such as putting appropriate wheels on it, or suggesting an easy engine upgrade.  In the case of a certain V8 swapped Mercedes-Benz 250C, the best advice was to ditch the aftermarket steering wheel and nasty 1950s Cadillac style batwing aircleaner housing.  Unfortunately the new owner did not see, hear or heed the advice from this website and instead put some nasty donk (dub?) wheels on the car and left everything else the same...including the asking price.
