Safe At Speed: 1975 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow

Whenever I make the mistake of taking a tour around on public streets, I am aghast at the vehicles that I encounter.  All manor of economy cars are clogging up lanes and people even seem to think it is appropriate to drive electrically powered automobiles.  Particularly offensive is anything that doesn't have the class, elegance and unfettered weight of something like a Rolls. Find this 1975 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow offered for $8000 in San Jose, CA via craigslist.

Low Mile, Great Shape -- Uggg...White Paint: 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT

This next car comes from Rock On who writes: For all those readers that say “ I am holding out for a 1988” or “I would buy it if it was a 1988”!  Yeah, that's right..and with all this nonsense about the 2020 Vette going mid-engine, my reply is GM already did a Mid-Engine Vette...and it was called the Fiero. Find this 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT offered for $9500 in Napa, CA via craigslist.

AWD 6-sp Manual Turbo Wagon: 2001 Audi S4 Avant B5

The B5 generation Audi A4 was introduced in 1994 and featured a longitudinally mounted engine mated to a front transaxle with optional quattro all-wheel-drive. It is a good cheap used car, and the hottest version released to the US market was the twin-turbo equipped S4.  Thankfully, the product planners at Audi decided to let the USA buyers get the Avant/Wagon version and was in this generation that Audi started to legitimately challenge BMW in the compact luxury sports-sedan/wagon wars. Find this 2001 Audi S4 Avant B5 offered on SecondDaily.com bidding for $1000 (buy-it-now of $7750) with 9 hours to go, located in New York.

Last Minute Stay of Execution: 1980 Chevrolet Chevette V8 Swap

The Chevette never had a chance.  It was born with a face that even a mother couldn't love and a body that was destined to be crushed like a legless roach on a sunny doorstep.  Uggg, put that thing out of its misery before it gets in the house...except this squishy mutant has a secret.  A V8 secret. Find this 1980 Chevrolet Chevette with V8 swap offered for $4200 in Billings, MT via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Holden My Breath: 2004 Pontiac GTO

Yeah, its beat up.  Sure, it's torn up on the inside.  Yeek, that odo reading is high.  And, of course it has the dreaded slushbox auto...but....dang, you can't beat an LS1 V8 in a sweet pony body that isn't a Camero and this is a lot of car for the money.  Find this 2004 Pontiac GTO offered for $4,000 near Albuquerque, NM via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Killed B: 1983 Audi quattro

"Ur" is German prefix that in one of it's meanings is original, primitive or proto-.  Such as Ur + shrift (document) is Urshrift or original document.  The Audi cognoscenti a few years ago began to refer to the original "small q" quattro of the early 80's as the Ur-quattro.  The Ur-quattro was a ground breaking car that changed the face of rallying, ushering in the all wheel drive revolution. Original quattro values have been ascendant, so here's your chance to pay pennies on the dollar for a significant car that has a few needs.  Find this 1983 Audi quattro for sale in Seattle, WA for $15,000 via craigslist.

Zombie Ready: 1982 Mercedes-Benz 240D

Do you need a car that is simultaneously the epitome of and antidote for the zombie apocalypse? Yes, indeed this next car is slower than a blue haired octogenarian driving a new Camry, but it'll plow through fields of the brainless undead like a John Deere tractor. Find this 1982 Mercedes-Benz 240D offered for $3,500 in Houston, TX via craigslist. Tip from Jeff.

Best of the Rest: 1975 Chevrolet Monza

The Chevrolet Monza (not to be confused with the Opel Monza or the Chevy Corvair Monza) was released for the 1975 model year as GM's last rear-drive subcompact offering on the H-platform shared with the Vega/Astra/Sunbird/Skyhawk/Starfire.  It was GM's answer to new sporty compact offerings from Ford like the Mustang II and featured the dreaded trifecta of crusher-magnet attributes -- flimsy rust-prone thin sheet metal, anemic 4-banger power, and cracker-jack box build quality...but the examples that have survived to this day must be the best of the breed. Those cars have survived the years and in the unique twist of Darwinian fate, they are probably better than the overpriced competition from German and Japan.  Find this 1975 Chevrolet Monza offered for $2000 in Medford...ummm...where the monza is Medford? CT? OH? MD? I seriously don't know. Gotta google it.  Hang on....yup, OR.  Was totally wrong.  Seriously craigslist needs to add a state indicator on their pages. Tip from Evan.

Not An Omniturner: 4C Supermodified Honda Racer

Building and campaigning a race car is an expensive hobby and the amount of time/money you need to spend for a few 20 minute sprint races is...well...pretty nuts.  Imagine, however, that you could dual purpose your racer -- drive it at the track AND to work on Friday.  I wonder how hard it would be to get specialty vehicle construction plates for something like this 4C Supermodified 5/8 scale CBR Honda powered thing here on eBay bidding for $2750 reserve-not-met with $3,500 buy-it-now located in Seaford, NY.

Like A Golf, But Pretty: 2008 Audi TT

Volkswagen's original Bauhaus styled Audi TT coupe/roadster was a cute little thing, equipped with VW Golf handling it hit the pavement in 1998 and was decidedly silly in styling.  But the car that replaced it meaner, leaner, and more angry in execution...which is a good or bad thing depending on how you feel about angry car faces. It was longer and wider than its predecessor and supposedly cured some of the ill handling aspects of the original TT...but you'll have to buy one to find our yourself and thankfully, they (like most used Audis) are cheap. Find this 2008 Audi TT here on eBay with a starting bid of $7100 located in Etowah, TN.

A Ford By Any Other Name: 1974 Mercury Capri

Prices for the Mercury/Ford Capri have been historically low for a number of reasons. First was Fords inexplicable placement of the Capri at Mercury dealers when it was a Ford in Europe and sold well as a Ford over there...but in 1974 it was objectively a wayyyy better Mustang than the Mustang II and somebody in the Ford product planning group managed to get the Capri festooned with a Mercury badge.  The years since haven't been any nicer, because car guys have prefered to drive Opel Mantas and Nissan Z cars...but if you open your heart (and eyes) you might find that the little Capri has something unique to offer. Find this 1974 Mercury Capri offered for $4995 in Mason, TX via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Fast And Not Furious: 2006 BMW 650i Convertible E63

The E63 generation BMW 650i was a monstrously expensive convertible built in the time of monstrous excesses of Teddy Bear Stearns, Lehman Brodudes, and Merrill Lynchmob.   The green wave hadn't yet electrified much of the fleet and pedestrian impact standards had only slightly altered the pointy noses of supercars back in 2006 when this next car left the assembly line.  In the twelve years since driving off the dealer lot this car has lost more than seventy THOUSAND dollars of value to depreciation (excluding price of options, fees, gas guzzler tax, luxury tax, etc) but still looks like a million bucks to me. Find this 2006 BMW 650i Convertible offered for $8995 in Houston, TX via craigslist. Tip from Jeff.

K9 Police Interceptor: 2007 Dodge Magnum

If you enjoy the thrill of a good ride in the back of a police car, then this next ride might be right for you.  You'll also need to enjoy holding your head out of the window at speed and chasing tennis balls, because only a canine will be happy in the metal back seat enclosure of this ex-Police K9 wagon. Find this 2007 Dodge Magnum offered for $4500 in Phoenix, AZ via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Implausible Deniability: 2002 Ford Thunderbird Neiman Marcus Edition

If the universe is indeed as infinitely large as the astrophysicists and heliocentric heretics would have us believe, then Dean Koontz was on to something when he wrote: “In an infinite universe, anything that could be imagined might somewhere exist.” Imagine for a minute that in 2002 when Ford brought out its retro-styled 78th generation Thunderbird that they built a Neiman Marcus limited edition to celebrate third world sweatshops and corporate acquisitions and mergers...or something.  Anyway, find this 2002 Ford Thunderbird Neiman Marcus Edition offered for $18,000 in Sherman Oaks, CA via craigslist. Tip from...I dunno where I found this thing...but I think somebody sent it in...

Not Bad: 1994 Saab 9000 Aero

This next car comes as a tip from Johnny Bouncewell who writes:  Dudes--- I certainly don't need another high strung Saab turbo in my life with the Viggen gettin all dusty in my shop but I know someone else does. Sounds like it was owned by a respectable Saab nerd, as most are. What gave it away? The spreadsheet of parts, cost and source. Seriously, 2k for a teal, turbo'd, and tri-spoke equipped gentlemans express. Not bad.  Not bad at all Johnny.  Find this 1994 Saab 9000 Aero offered for $2000 in Nob Hill, NM via craigslist.

Son of a Busa: 1973 Saab Sonett w/ Hayabusa engine

Do you know what you can get at a new car dealership for $10k?  Absolutely nothing. Even the most bare bones, teeth rattling, manual everything equipped Nissan Versa 4-door will set you back $13,000 before taxes, license, registration, and stupid tax.  To add insult the injury, the Nissan will depreciate faster than an open can of beluga caviar in the hot Florida sun and will be worth nothing in a few years...but FEAR NOT, because Daily Turismo has the answer to your prayers for automotive happiness and depreciation proof assets....errr...maybe.  Find this 1973 Saab Sonnet w/ Hayabusa engine offered for $10,000 in Voorheesville, NY via craigslist.

TBird Turbo Power: 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis Wagon

Whenever someone (usually a new acquaintance, typically in an elevator, or other confined space with little escape like a sauna or an any gender restroom, who was trying to hide in his/her phone) asks me what, exactly, is Daily Turismo?  I pause, and attempt to articulate that it is a blog masquerading as a media company about cars...and specifically a curated collection of cool cars for sale.  But, what I should say is this -- it is a t-bird turbo swapped Mercury wagon from the 80s for a decent price.  Most will go back to their twitter rant, meme like-a-thon, or Pokemon Goat, but a few would get it and perk up.  For those few, I present this 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis Wagon offered for $3000 in Bethlehem, because where else would a chariot fit for a king be located?...oh...not that Bethlehem.  Right.  Bethlehem, PA. Tip from David K.
