25k: Some Imporation Required: 1990 Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v

The Lancia Delta was a little Giugiaro designed crap box that shared most of its architecture with the Fiat Ritmo and Saab 600 and would have been a totally forgettable car if not for the HF Integrale version with 6 back-to-back World Rally Championship constructor's title from 1987-1992.  The standard Delta's naturally aspirated front drive setup was ditched for a turbocharged 4WD setup and hooning has never been the same.  Audi's Quattro may have beaten the Integrale to the market by a few years, but we never got them on this side of the Atlantic, so while vintage Quattros are cool a Delta Integrale is a unicorn.  Find this 1990 Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v Evo for sale in the United Kingdom for $24,000 (USD) on ebay.

DTO: Bottom Of The Curve: 2000 Ferrari 456M

The Ferrari 456 is an odd car to be found on the pages next to a V8 RWD Focus, but this site isn't about what is hip/cool/rad - this site is about good deals.  So if you are a one percenter in the mood for a front engine V12 powered Ferrari (as the old man himself said all Ferrari's should be) don't waste that trust fund on some over priced/slow maintenance prone classic or the latest flashy 599GTXAlonsoRZZ22.  Act a little bit like your business savvy old man (or mom) and pick up something near the bottom of its price curve.  Find this 2000 Ferrari 456M for sale in Littleton, CO currently bidding on ebay for $24,600 reserve-not-met with 2 days to go.  Welcome to another edition of Daily Turismo Omologato (DTO) where we showcase cars that are above the standard DT price range, but are unique and worthy of a feature.

10k: Small Fry: 1989 Toyota MR2 2.2l Turbo Swap

The first generation Toyota MR2 was a lightweight 2-seater built from 1984 to 1989 with a small inline-4 engine.  The faster version had a small Rootes-type supercharger and made 145 horsepower on a good day.  Today's feature MR2 has a later MR2 turbo engine shoehorned into the rear and makes quite a few additional ponies.  Find this 1989 Toyota MR2 2.2l Turbo Swap for sale in Portland, ME currently bidding for $8,700 reserve-not-met with a few hours to go.

10k: Siren Song: 1964 Lancia Flaminia Pininfarina 2.8 Coupe

There are many classic cars that call to gear-heads like sirens among the rocks.  You may only catch a fleeting glance of a red valve cover or flipper splashing into the ocean, but the end effect is the same; you are drawn into shallow waters and marooned on a deserted island as all your belongings get washed out to sea.  Don't do it.  Don't buy this Lancia, it is going to make you go broke.  Whatever you do, don't visit ebay to see the listing for this 1964 Lancia Flaminia Pininfarina 2.8 Coupe currently bidding for $7,600 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go.

2k: Crown Royal 2 For 1: 1967 Toyota Crown Wagon(s)

The Toyota Crown was a high end S-platform offering from Toyota that is still sold in Japan today, but gets rebadged as the Lexus GS for the US market.  The S40 generation Crown was built from 1962-1967 and allegedly was influenced by the Ford Falcon for mechanical benchmarking and the Chrysler Imperial for styling.  Sit back, pour yourself a glass of Crown Royal on the rocks and imagine what this one would look like after a little care, cursing and cash.  Find this 1967 Toyota Crown Wagon (with a bonus donor car) offered for $1700 in Snohomish, WA via craigslist.

10k: Don't Drip Oil On Your Monopoly Money: 1985 BMW 524TD E28, Minty Clean

The E28 generation BMW 5-series market is currently somewhere between discarded junk and desirable classic, and the low mile, clean examples are starting to fetch decent money.  The 524TD is a turbo diesel version was only imported into the US for two years.  The USDM 524TD was sold with a low power diesel engine and an automatic transmission, making it just about the slowest, cheapest and least loved E28 available...unless it is super clean...  Find this 1985 BMW 524TD E28 for sale in Tarpon Springs, FL currently bidding on ebay for $8,000 with a few hours to go.

15k: Rear Driver: 2000 Ford Focus V8 Swap

The US market Ford Focus was launched in 2000 with Ford's "New Edge" styling, a unifying design theme dreamed up by Ford's VP of Design Jack Telnack.  The Mustang also got New Edginess in 1999 as well as the Cougar (and others) but, mercifully, the cars were allowed to return to segment based styling a few years later.  The 1st generation Focus is a cheap car for a beater today, but a surprisingly large number have been converted to V8-rear drive brutes from a variety of tuners, madmen and enthusiasts.  Find this 2000 Ford Focus V8 Swap offered for $18,000 in Holland, MI.   Featured by Zaqataq on jalopnik oppositelock forum.

5k: Other Side Of The Tracks: 1969 BMW 1600

The BMW New Class was a line of compact sedans sold from 1962 to 1977 and is currently riding a wave of appreciation that is unusual for mass production car like the 1600/2002.  Most 1600/2002s are getting fancy paint jobs and later fuel injected engines along with big digit prices, so it is nice to see one with a reasonable price tag, even if it is from the other side of the tracks.  Find this 1969 BMW 1600 for sale in Oakland, CA for $5,000 via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

20k: Seller Submission: 2007 Cadillac CTS-V

For a fast/fun late model sub $20k sedan, it doesn't get much better than the first generation Cadillac CTS-V.  The V cost about $50k new (before options) and the early LS6 powered (2004-2005) have been the cheap ones to get, but today's seller submission gets you into the refreshed LS2 powered (2006-2007) version at a good price.  Find this 2007 Cadillac CTS-V for sale in Wilton, CT for $18,400 via craigslist.  Seller submission from Peter.

10k: Need More of This: 1983 Volvo 242 Chevy LQ4 V8 Turbo

From our own experience with the Daily Turismo Project Car we can assure all you readers that the Volvo  240 chassis is a good hunk of metal let down by a wimpy stock engine, wallowy stock suspension and stock tires from the Huffy catalog.  Start fixing each and every single one of these problems and you will soon have a fast, fun and boxy Volvo....but probably go broke.  Save your time and money - buy a completed project from someone who wants out.  Find this 1983 Volvo 242 with turbo LSX V8 for sale in Modesto, CA for $12,500 via craigslist.

2k: Nissan Power: 1967 Renault Caravelle

The Renault Caravelle is another seldom seen French export that competed with Volkswagen's Beetle and Karmann Ghia with a rear-mounted engine and basic amenities. The last Caravelle featured on these pages was a clean looking but rally stickered example, but today's feature is a bit more...special.  Find this 1967 Renault Caravelle for sale in Knoxville, TN for $2,500 via craigslist.  Tip from Timothy C.

10k: Scirocky Balboa: 1987 Volkswagen Scirocco Mk 2

No car better epitomizes Marlon Brando's famous line from Oscar winning 1954 Elia Kazan epic On The Waterfront; " I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am" than the Giorgetto Giugiaro penned Volkswagen Scirocco.  The sporty looking coupe was launched to high hopes in 1974 as a sporty alternative to the Golf/Rabbit/Jetta, but eventually died at the hands of the better and more usable GTi.  Find this 1987 Volkswagen Scirocco for sale in Fremont, CA for $9,500 via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

5k: Mid Engine Montecarlo: 1976 Lancia Scorpion

The Lancia (pronounced lan-sha) Scorpion  was one of the last Lancia's to power the rear wheels as the entire Lancia lineup was being converted to rebadged Fiat rejects.  Interestingly enough, only with the advent of the rebadged Chrysler 300 platform sold as the Thema II, has Lancia offered a car powering the proper wheels anywhere in the world.  In the USA we don't get anything with the lance and shield emblem, so we have to live with well depreciated and abused classics.  Find this 1976 Lancia Scorpion for sale in Santa Rosa, CA for $3,500 via craigslist.  Big thanks to multiple tippers Anthony W. & Kaibeezy.

10k: Yenko SC Clone: 1968 Chevrolet El Camino

The Yenko Camaro was one of those legendary stories about a car dealer (Don Yenko) who wanted to sell monster Camaros even if GM wouldn't allow it.  The corporate office had put a 400 cubic inch limit on the size of engines allowed in the Camaro, but Yenko figured out a way to order a Camaro with the Corvette's huge 427 cubic inch 450 hp engine.  The Yenko Camaros were sold in 1967-68 but by 1969 anyone could order the big engine in the Camaro by selection certain options via the Central Office of  Production Orders (COPO).  Yenko never built an El Camino, but today's feature gives an alternate universe idea of what a small block Yenko Camino would have looked like.  Find this 1968 Chevrolet El Camino for sale in Fremont, NE for $11,500 via craigslist.  Tip from Andy L.

10k: It's Alive: 1980 Porsche 924 Turbo - Electric Conversion

The Porsche 924 came out during the era of front-engined watercooled Porsche coupes and was an entry level offering for a few years.  Today they are cheap, fun to drive, but expensive to repair...so they are great candidates for crazy engine swaps.  Find this 1980 Porsche 924 Turbo converted to electric power for sale in Gaithersburg, MD for $9,999 via evtradinpost.com.  Tip from slowcarSLOW-MPGlol.

10k: Half Empty or Half Fulvia? 1967 Lancia Fulvia Coupe

Lancia Automobile S.p.A. was a small manufacturer from Torino, Italia founded in 1906 by Vincenzo Lancia and master of its own destiny until 1969 when it was taken over by Fiat because it was unprofitable and English speakers found it difficult to pronounce Lancia.  The "ci" is pronouned like "sh" in ship with a silent "i", so the name sounds like Lan-sha.  No hard C or E and howdoyousaythatword.com has a short audio clip if you need more help.  Lancia retained some of its character and own design/production until the 1990s when the lineup changed to use rebadged Fiats. Today most cars wearing the lance and shield logo are (gasp) rebadged Chrysler product.  Why anyone would buy a new Lancia when you can pick up a genuine old one for cheap?  Find this 1967 Lancia Fulvia Coupe for sale in Berkeley, CA for $12,500 via craigslist. Tip from Kaibeezy.

20k: Yellow Jacket: 1970 Porsche 911T

Welcome to another edition of Daily Turismo Omologato (DTO), where we showcase cars that are above the standard DT price range, but are unique and worthy of a few words.  The classic (1965-73) small bumper Porsche 911 is one of those cars that seem to have gotten away from the average working man driver.  Porsche built a fair number of their rear-engined runabouts, but modern market mechanisms (especially restomod conversions from specialty aftermarket shops like Singer) have driven prices sky high.  So, while some DT readers will think "hey, I can buy 10 of XYZ car for the same price" others will say "that is half off the normal rip-off price" and a big fight will break out in the comments.  Just wait until I'm done getting my popcorn ready.  Find this 1970 Porsche 911T for sale in Palo Alto, CA for $22,500 via craigslist.  Tip from Stigroy.

2k: JD'Merican: 1975 Dodge Colt 5-spd

Back in 1975 Dodge worked with Mitsubishi to create a car for the buyer who liked the idea of Japanese quality without the stigma of having bought from foreign devils, a strange and wondrous novelty at the time.  The end result was a front engine, rear drive platform shared between the Mitsubishi Galant, Plymouth/Dodge Colt and Plymouth Cricket.  Find this 1975 Dodge Colt 5-spd for sale in Central LA, CA for $1,700 via craigslist.

5k: Legendary: 1994 Acura Legend 6-spd

In 1986 Honda released the Legend to a hungry public via its newly unveiled Acura dealership network.  The Legend was the top of the line for Acura and featured a longitudinally mounted V6 mated to the front wheels and shared development of its platform with the Rover 800 and Sterling 825.  Acura was nice enough to offer a manual transmission version and the only one to get is the second generation coupe with the Type II V6 and 6-speed gearbox.  Find this 1994 Acura Legend 6-spd for sale in Fremont, CA for $4,200 via craigslist.

10k: SLKhrysler: 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6

The Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 was a rare bright spot from the dark ages of the unholy Daimler-Chrysler union.  Out of all the brand whoring and platform pimping the Crossfire used the Mercedes R170 SLK class platform and wrapped in a "Made In Detroit" cover.  Find this 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 for sale in El Paso, TX for $11,000 via autotrader.com.  Tip from Philip G.

The Importance of Being Earnest About An Unused Peugeot

Oscar Wilde once famously wrote: "What is a cynic? A man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing." We at DT don't claim to know the price of everything, but we do understand the value in nothing...more specifically information missing from a car listing. When the one-owner Peugeot 404 story posted, one of DT's extended staff just didn't like what he saw...so a net was dragged over the world wide web to find the real story behind this oddly unused Frenchthing.

3k: Conquest Swapped: 1982 Toyota Corolla Wagon, I4 Turbo Swap

The E70 generation Toyota Corolla was built from 1979 to 1982 and featured a variety of underpowered boat anchors pushing puny power into the rear wheels.  Thankfully the Corolla has a decent sized engine bay and the world is full of nuts who have spare engines sitting around.  Find this 1982 Toyota Corolla Wagon with Mitsubishi Starion/Chrysler Conquest 4G54 I6 swap for sale in New York City, NY for $2,500 via craigslist.

10k: Injected Roundie: 1973 BMW 2002Tii

The BMW 2002 Tii is rapidly becoming a collector car only able to fit into the budget of the wealthy car collector.  We've seen examples go for as much as $30k and it is strange because the Tii is only marginally faster/better/rarer than the basic 2002 and those are dime-a-dozen built in the millions.  Regardless, it is still refreshing to see a good Tii for sale at a reasonable price.  Find this 1973 BMW 2002 Tii for sale in LA Area, CA for $11,000 via craigslist.
