Sterling owners will tell you with a wide smile that they've got an Acura Legend with a cool badge, but what they won't mention is the Rover connection. Because, from 1987 through 1991 ARCONA (Austin Rover Cars Of North America) imported a rebadged version of the Rover 800 series as the Sterling 825/827 for the US market.  Under the skin are the bones of an Acura Legend, which means the Sterling used Honda V6 engine mated to the front wheels...but the cars were still assembled in Oxford and electrified with Lucas electrics.  That means that the part that falls off in your lap during a spirited turn may or may not expose a faulty piece of wiring. Simple Driver: 1990 Acura Legend

This next car is a hot one -- a clean, good running, rust free, medium mile example of an early 90s classic with a smooth Honda V6 that didn't push the boundaries of technology, but eased next to the boundary with a whimsical smile on its face.  And the price on this one is great...naturally it comes with the slushbox auto (a manual gearbox version would probably have been driven more!)...but this seems like a perfect first car for a kid or cheap daily driver.  Find this 1990 Acura Legend V6 offered for $3750 in SF Bay Area, CA via craigslist. Appliance Racing Grey: 1993 Acura Legend

 The 2nd generation Acura Legend was released in 1991 and likely ignored by the clueless US based auto manufacturers (I can't imagine any of the bean counter driven big 3 would have looked twice at this car and seen a threat).  However, there were likely a few German horseless carriage builders who did a collective freak out (and you should see German engineers freak out...it ain't pretty) when they discovered the fit-finish-and-finesse of the Acura Legend.  Find this 1993 Acura Legend offered for $3,350 in Forest Grove, OR via GroveAutoCenter. Type II V6: 1995 Acura Legend L

In 1981 the US Government and Japanese auto OEMs (under heavy pressure from US OEMs and labor unions) entered into a voluntary export restraint that limited the total number Japanese cars exported to the US to 1.68 million.  This limit was intended to be a temporary restriction with increasing limit each year, but was subsequently extended all the way through 1995.  The interesting by product was that Honda & Toyota brought some up-market offerings as a way to maintain revenue figures, much to the chagrin of Cadillac, Lincoln, and others who found their days as king of the luxury market were numbered.  Find this 1995 Acura Legend L here on eBay bidding for $4,773 with a few hours to go, located in Aurora, IL.

Happy Birthday Honda: The 5 Best Used Hondas

Exactly 66 years ago on today (Sept 24th, 1948) the Honda Motor Corp was incorporated in Japan by Soichiro Honda.  Honda started out making a motorized bicycle (nicknamed the Bata Bata for its engine sound) using surplus Tohatsu 2-stroke engines from radio generators, but they soon ran out of the engines and started making their own.  It was from these humble beginnings, and only three years after multiple atomic bombs and uncountable quantities of conventional weapons had reduced the Land of the Rising Sun to shambles, that Honda in his 170 square foot workshack launched a commercial empire.  Today, we are happy to produce a short segment on the best cars to ever be born from Dreams.

In 1986 Honda released the Legend to a hungry public via its newly unveiled Acura dealership network.  The Legend was the top of the line for Acura and featured a longitudinally mounted V6 mated to the front wheels and shared development of its platform with the Rover 800 and Sterling 825.  Acura was nice enough to offer a manual transmission version and the only one to get is the second generation coupe with the Type II V6 and 6-speed gearbox.  Find this 1994 Acura Legend 6-spd for sale in Fremont, CA for $4,200 via craigslist.
