10k: 1998 BMW 540i, e39 M5 Clone; Actual movie car from FF4; Tinsel Towncar

Here at the Daily Turismo we enjoy finding Tinsel Towncars that are a fair match for an on-screen vehicle, but to find an actual used movie car for DT prices is a treat!  This 1998 BMW 540 disguised as an M5 was used for filming in Fast & Furious (aka FF4, 2009) and is for sale in Edmond, OK, currently bidding for $2,950 reserve-not-met or $13,990 buy-it-now.

$OverPriced: Limo Bob and the Four Horsemen of the Douchepocalypse Feature a Fake Rolls Limo

Welcome to another edition of Wasteland Wednesday, Riddler style!  We've featured some heinous atrocities from Limo Bob and the Four Horsemen of the Douchepocalypse before, but this Lincoln Towncar gussied up as a Rolls Royce Phantom is a new low and for sale on ebay for $29k.  We would say bit thanks to tip from Scot, alerting us to the LimoBob item....but hold the applause until after you see this thing...

MotoExotica Checkerboard Alfa Spider Riddler back for sale?

We featured a 1985 Alfa Romeo Spider with a seriously horrible paint scheme late last year for sale in St Louis, MO from the guys at MotoExotica.  Cars coming back up for sale isn't unusual, but this one is striking and going through owners like a rabid pit bull.  The current seller is in Connecticut and claims to have purchased it from Jim Norton Toyota in Oklahoma.  See it here on ebay, with no bids at $3,999 with 1 day to go.

15k: 1978 Porsche 911 SC; LS1 Swap!

The Porsche 911 is motoring icon, a classic, something that is sipped rather than swigged and treated with care.  Shoving an American V8 into the back is the equivalent of mixing Olde English with Dalmore 40 year old single malt...and we love every tail-sliding, tire-chirping, gurgly-idling inch of it.  This 1978 Porsche 911 SC has a GM LS1 V8 in the back and is for sale in Texas City, TX currently bidding on ebay for $13,100 with 2 days to go.

5k Flash: 1965 Volkswagen Type 3 Variant (Squareback)

The Volkswagen Type 3 was an attempt by Volkswagen to repurpose its Beetle components in a new body to expand market share in the early 1960s.  The Type 3 variant was known colloquially as the Squareback and sold under the Volkswagen 1500 nameplate in the US, and today has a significant cult following.  This 1965 Volkswagen Type 3 Squareback is for sale in Hollywood, CA for the bargain price of $3200 via craiglist.

5k Flash: 1971 Mercedes Benz 280SE 4-spd; Vintage

We don't need to remind you how awesome the W108 Mercedes-Benz is...do we?  Consider this a reminder that there was a time when the tri-point insignia was synonymous with quality, class and luxury - not the crackerjack-box-prize, latest market buzzword chasing appliances it now symbolizes.  This stately 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE with 4-speed manual transmission is for sale in Greenville, SC and currently bidding on ebay at $3,050 reserve-not-met with 5 days to go.

DT COW: Commenter of the Week; Tips and Thanks

This week's Commenter of the Week award goes to a reader who doesn't regularly comment, but does send us some great tips!  We featured a sweet 1959 Ambassador V8 by Rambler that he tipped to us and then we forgot to include a thanks in the post...We put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the fumes from some soldering on the wiring harness of the DTPC Volvo on that one.  Click through the jump for this week's COW;

10k: 1989 Chevy Corvette C4 6spd

The C4 generation Corvette is the unloved sibling in the Vette family, the red-headed step child that was born in the Malaise era and surprisingly transformed into a sophisticated and remarkably fast car by the end of its production run.  This 1989 Chevy Corvette convertible with hardtop and 6-spd manual is offered for sale in Miami, FL, bidding at $11,600 reserve-not-met with 1 day to go.

5k Flash: 1958 Berkeley Sports SA322/328 Rolling Chassis

Someone is about to get a fantastic deal on a 1958 Berkeley SA322/328 rolling chassis on ebay.  Auction closes in 10 minutes and current bidding is $2,275.

5k: 2003 Infiniti M45, Y34

The 2nd generation Infinity M-series (Nissan designation Y34 and known as Nissan Gloria for the Japanese domestic market) was sold as the M45 in the US from 2003-2004 in very limited quantities.  It is however a fantastic alternative to a Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6, Lexus GS, BMW 5-series and prices are really affordable today.  This 2003 Infiniti M45 is for sale in Burlingame, CA for $6500 via craigslist.

5k: 1959 Ambassador V8 by Rambler; Some Assy Required

In 1954 Hudson Motor Car Co. and Nash-Kelvinator Corp. merged to form the American Motors Corporation and within a few years was headed by CEO George Romney (failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney's dad!).  Under Romney, major changes were enacted to the AMC brands, including abandoning the Nash and Hudson names and introducing a slew of new models to compete with offerings from the big three.  Work on the stretched/upmarket version of the Nash Rambler was not abandoned entirely, but it was renamed the Ambassador V8 by Rambler, confusing a generation by swapping brand/model names willy-nilly.  This 1959 Ambassador V8 by Rambler Cross Country Wagon is for sale in Ottertail, MN, currently bidding on ebay for $1,726 with 1 day to go.  Ed update 2/5: Big thanks to tip from DT reader Oldsmobuick, and sorry for not originally including the thanks!

5k: 1982 Mercedes-Benz 300D W123; Turbo Diesel; White Coat

We've raved about the usability of a well mainted W123 Mercedes-Benz in the past, so we won't get all goey and rave about how cool they are...instead we will tell you that they are stinky, slow and expensive to fix...but this one is just so cheap that we can't help but drool!!  This 1982 Mercedes-Benz 300D W123 Turbo Diesel is for sale in Daly City, CA, currently bidding on ebay for $1,635 with 3 days to go (buy it now $3,300).

5k: 1972 Dodge Dart Low Miles Slant-6

The early 1970s Dodge Dart was small unibody sedan built on the third generation A-body platform.  Sales of the A-body were phenomenal when Valiant, Dart, Demon, Duster, 3700, Centura, Charger, Valiant Drifter, Valiant Pacer and Scamp sales were all combined.  This 1972 Dodge Dart Swinger hardtop, for sale in Westland, MI is currently bidding for $5,500 reserve-not-met with 1 day to go (buy-it-now for $8k).

Jensen Interceptor in Fast & Furious 6 Trailer?

If you were watching the Super Bowl (like most of America) you probably saw the Fast and Furious 6 trailer...and in between the explosions we saw some sweet cars getting driven hard in a highly computer graphics assisted world - including a Jensen Interceptor driven by Vincent Torretto's (Vin Diesel) supposed to be dead ex-main squeeze "Letty" (Michelle Rodriguez).  If you can ignore bad acting, serious ignorance of physics, over-abuse of CGI, the Fast and Furious movies have brought to the big screen an undeniably awesome collection of internal combustion powered machines over the past decade.  Find the full trailer here on youtube.

10k Flash: 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Restomod

1964 marked the fourth year of production for the 2nd generation Ford Galaxie, and the newly styled car was designed to be more aerodynamic to help Ford's NASCAR teams.  We think the chrome grill, horizontal headlights and boxtop roof makes for a clean muscle-car styling on par with the much pricier Pontiac GTO or Chevy Chevelle.  This 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 restomod looks to pack quite a bit of value into its $12,500 asking price on craigslist (located in Chico, CA).

5k: 1970 Toyota Corolla Wagon with 13B Rotary Swap

The second generation E20 Toyota Corolla was introduced mid-year in 1970 and featured a few small inline 4 cylinder engines as options.  The lightweight rear wheel drive Corolla was available as a coupe, sedan, station wagon and van, and most of them have rusted into oblivion in the past 43 years.  A few remain, like this 1970 Toyota Corolla wagon with a 13B Mazda rotary engine swap; for sale in Palm Beach Gardens, FL for $6000 via craigslist.

Manual Trans Thorsday Cruiser: 1970 Volvo 164

It's no secret that DT loves us some vintage Volvos, but to date we haven't featured a 164. The Volvo 164 was the Swedes' upper tier luxury market car sold from 1969 through 1975, and was sort of a great uncle to the ubiquitous 240. It shared 3/4 of the body shell (from the firewall back) with the 140 series, which eventually morphed into the 240 that refused to die until 1993. But the 164 was a bigger classier car aimed at the likes of Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Today they are largely overlooked by enthusiasts and collectors and can be picked up for a song. Exhibit A: this 1970 model now bidding on ebay in Chadron, Nebraska for only $1450 at time of writing, reserve met with two days to go.

5k: 1985 BMW 745i Turbo; Grey Market, EuroTrash, Buffalo Hide

The E21 BMW 7-series was a large upmarket sedan produced from 1977-1987.  The hottest version (the 745i) was only available to continental European customers, but a few have immigrated to the USA.  This 1985 BMW E21 745i Turbo Grey Market import is for sale in San Diego, CA for $3999 via craigslist.

5k: 1960 Rambler American; Vintage Project

The Rambler American was a built by AMC starting in 1958, and is closely related to the 1955 Nash Rambler (the older Nash version was known as the "Bathtub" for its styling with front full wheel covers - pic here.)  When Nash merged with Hudson to form AMC (in 1954) it moved the Rambler name upmarket under the Nash & Hudson names, but when it needed a new compact in 1958, it reintroduced the old 1955 car under the Rambler brand as an American.  This 1960 Rambler American is for sale for $2800 in the Los Angeles South Bay area via craigslist.
