A Cite To Behold: 1982 Chevrolet Citation X-11

 If you don't remember the Citation, let me say that you didn't miss much, and if you do remember the Citation...then I'm sorry about that.  When GM renames its compact offerings (like it does every 5 years or so) it is a feeble attempt to wash the taste from the last pile of junk out of your mouth...and the Citation was no different...but the X-11 version just might have offered a hint of sweetness to offset the taste of bile.  Find this 1982 Chevrolet Citation X-11here on eBay bidding for $6,999 with a few hours to go, located in Cumberland, MD.

Grand Tiddler: 1974 Suzuki GT185

Fast Coupe: 2004 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG

An updated version of the CLK-Class hardtop coupe (and cabriolet) was released in 2004 with the C209 designation, and sharing mechanical bits with the W203 C-Class.  The base model used a 3.2 liter V6, but if you had a need for speed the upgrade to the AMG powered 5.4 liter V8 was available for a lot more money than the entire car is worth today.  Find this 2004 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG offered for $5,400 in SF Bay Area, CA via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

Hopped Up: 1972 Meyers Tow'd

Back in the 1960s Bruce Meyers took the concept of the custom built dune buggy (similar to the examples that cruised around Pismo Beach, CA) and turned them into a reproducible thing.  The original concept was sold as the Manx, but later Bruce and his team introduced a miniature off-road only buggy called the Tow'd.  Find this 1972 Meyers Tow'd offered for $7,200 in SF Bay Area, CA via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

Rockin: 1941 Brooks Stevens Western Flyer RV

 Legend has it that famed industrial designer Clifford Brooks Stevens contracted polio as a lad and started sketching designs as something to do while bedridden.  This story sounds reasonable, mostly because everybody born around the turn of the 20th century got a case of polio or two.  He might have started his career designing the robins egg blue '50s appliances that sat in every kitchen for a decade or two, but he also penned the '62 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk, '49 Harley Hydra-Glide, Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, the Miller Brewing logo, and later those heinous Excalibur fauxcedes roadsters...but before he was on crack he designed the most awesome RV ever. What Am I? Stripes

I've said it before, and I will say it again.  The readers/commenters on DT are the smartest people on the interweb when it comes to cars.  You guys solved the single headlight photo of the '55 Chevy Biscayne concept car two weeks ago...A CONCEPT CAR, a one-off freak of nature, and you guys figured it out.  For this week's What Am I? puzzle, I am showing some stripes.  You find the car that these stripes go with.

No Love: 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata

I don't want to be one of those people who says I told you so...but...no strike that.  I do want to gloat about this one.  Let's rewind.  In Sept of 2015 Jesse from Barnfinds picked up a 6,000 mile MX-5 Miata from a ranch in Sun Valley, ID and then sold it in November of 2015 for $8,100 on eBay. We picked up the scent in March 2016 when it was offered in Mountain View, CA for $15,000 firm, but that may have been a scam after I reached out to Jesse for confirmation...however, now the exactly same car is now listed  in San Jose, CA via craigslist, this time with new pictures and more legitimacy.  Find this 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata with 8,000 miles offered for $11,000 via craigslist.  Tip from Matt V.

Got a Swede Tooth?: 1994 Saab 900 CE Limited Edition Convertible

A good, older 2-door Saab can be hard to find. They seem to mysteriously go from good condition to Valhalla with no in-between. We are pleased to have caught this one in the wild. 2016 DT Birthday Wrapup

It has been an insane and long week over here on the editing/writing/publishing side of the DT world as we celebrated DT's 4th Birthday.  100 years of cars in a single week was an ambitious goal, but we found some interesting stuff along the way and learned a thing or two.  On Monday we covered 1917 through 1936, Tuesday we ventured into the fabulous future of the 1940s and 1950s, Wednesday we just hit the 1960s muscle and 1970s junk, Thursday was a day to celebrate the automotive renaissance of the 1980s/1990s and Friday was a look at the past few years of fabulous automobiles to leave the factories around the globe.

2015 Ford Focus EcoBoost 1.0

The visceral experiences of driving are slowly being taken away from us sense by sense. In economy cars, we’re faced with a pretty flaccid selection of 1.6 to 2.4 liter four cylinder powerplants that have had all of their idiosyncrasies and power peaks normalized out. Ford, though not immune to offering boring engine options, at least provides the possibility of getting a boosted one liter triple in the Fiesta and Focus. Sounding like a turbocharged vintage triple bike when some resonating equipment is removed, the 1.0 is pretty rorty when opened up. 2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe

BMW's revived Mini brand has been on a tear in the past few years with lots of new models and generally positive press.  Mini released the Coupe at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show with raked windshield and funky backwards baseball cap styling attributed to Marcus Syring who is probably best known for his work on the BMW Z3 / M Coupe Clownshoe. 2010 Dodge Charger

The line between concerned citizen and full on vigilante would be a tough tightrope walk driving an ex-police car.
