Manual Gearbox: 2012 Mini Countryman Cooper S ALL4

If I asked you to list all of the late model 4 door sedan/wagons with a turbocharged engine, all-wheel-drive and a manual gearbox, you'd probably come back with a list of Japanese (Subaru!) rally machines and maybe a few random oddballs..but you probably wouldn't suspect that you could find such a setup in an Austrian built car that uses a British marque with a German parent company and a French engine...oh yeah. Find this 2012 Mini Countryman S All-4 offered for $5990 in Claremont, CA via craigslist.

John Cooper "Works" Edition: 2007 Mini Cooper S

This next seller needs a lesson in first impressions -- when you advertise a car, the first thing you should not include in your description is the phrase "works" complete with quotation marks.  What the seller meant to say is that it is the John Cooper Works edition, which is a special edition of the Cooper S from the factory.  One can probably assume it "works" based on the sellers description of it "running amazing" and these little Coopers are cheap cheap cheap these days! Find this 2007 Mini Cooper S JCW offered for $4400 in West Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.

Mini Cooperino: 2002 Mini Cooper S Truck

Whenever I run into a late model Mini Cooper pickup truck (Cooperchero...Minimino?) it is usually one of the RedBull promotional vehicles that has been stripped of its giant can of caffeine and ground bull testes...but those ex-RedBull cars are all automatics, so it is nice to find a Mini Cooperino that has both an S logo and a manual gearbox. Find this 2002 Mini Cooper S Truck offered for $4950 in Laguna Niguel, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

High Miles, Low Price: 2006 Mini Cooper S

This next car comes as a tip from Art C who writes: Higher miles but looks super clean... $3800 seems like a bargain if it checks out. I am a big fan of the new Mini Cooper S and had an argument today if the Cooper S or the Fiat 500 Abarth was a better deal on the used car market today...the discussion continues.  Find this 2006 Mini Cooper S offered for $3800 in Rhode Island via craigslist.

2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe

BMW's revived Mini brand has been on a tear in the past few years with lots of new models and generally positive press.  Mini released the Coupe at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show with raked windshield and funky backwards baseball cap styling attributed to Marcus Syring who is probably best known for his work on the BMW Z3 / M Coupe Clownshoe. Worldwide sales through 2014 totaled under 28,000 units for the Coupe, so Mini canned the car at the end of the 2015 model year.  Find this 2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe offered for $13,500 from a small dealer in Houston, TX. This post is part of DT's 2016 Birthday Celebration of 100 cars; enjoy the ride!

Mini For Maxi Price: 2006 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works GP Kit

In 2006 BMW decided to let the outgoing first generation Mini Hatch leave with a bang. It started with the Cooper S model (around $22k), and added the John Cooper Works GP kit (another $10k) to create one of the most expensive first gen Neue-Minis to leave the factory in Cowley, Oxfordshire.  The JCW GP Kit was not only the fastest Mini Cooper to be built, but the limit of 415 units sold in the USA means it is also the most exclusive.  Find this 2006 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works GP Kit here on eBay offered for $24,900 buy-it-now or make offer located in Ft Myers, FL.

Backwards Cap Styling: 2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe

Recently I've been strangely obsessed with finding a good example of the Mini Cooper Coupe...and no, I didn't stutter, and I haven't the foggiest idea why I'm obsessed. The Cooper Coupe, along with its topless sibling the Cooper Roadster, was a 2-seat version of the Mini Cooper built from 2011-2015.  The Coupe followed along a line of variants from the BMW directed Mini brand, including the Clubman, Countryman, Paceman, Fatman, Littleman and Batman. Find this 2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe here on cars.com offered for $15,209 located in Cary, NC.

The German Job: 2003 Mini Cooper S

When the model year 2000 Mini reboot (brought to you by those guys in Bavaria) was released, it hit with a big splash.  Magazine pundits raved about the handling, people flocked to pickup base Coopers, supercharged Cooper Ss, and plus sized Clubman versions (available in both base and S).  For the first few years prices of used Coopers were only a few dimes shy of MSRP, but the wonderful magic of depreciation finally hit a few years ago and now -- now you can buy one for cheap.  Like this 2003 Mini Cooper S offered for $4,200 in San Francisco, CA via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

New Car Tuesday: 2015 Mini Cooper S

We've done a few "new" car reviews over the years on DT and I've been struggling to find a regular feature for the Tuesday 10:30am PST spot...so welcome to New Car Tuesday.  The thing I don't want to do is just parrot the opinions of other folks around the web, so my promise is that any new car review will be based on an experience driving a new car.  These won't be press cars (ha!), so they will be cars driven at the dealer lot or from friends.  First up, is the 2015 Mini Cooper S hardtop starting at $24,100 available at your local Mini dealer.

18k: Grande Price: 2006 MINI Cooper S John Cooper Works GP

"Mini has lost its way, man." "Yeah, the new ones are just bloated, overpriced, kitschy garbage aimed at the lifestyle vehicle market." "Totally. They're nothing like my old 2006 JCW GP." Shocked? This could be a legitimate conversation between two modern Mini enthusiasts. Or the start of a fight between an Austin Mini and a BMW Mini driver about corporate BMW oversight, creeping rust, size and implied safety, giant-slaying, and other buzzwords. If you're a neo-nostalgist aching for the best of the newest cars to bear the Mini badge, the supercharged, 1.6-liter R53 GP is for you. Find this 2006 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works GP here on eBay, located in West Chester, PA for $17,900 buy-it-now via eBay.

5k: Value Meal: 2004 Mini Cooper S

The Mini Cooper hardtop (aka Hatch) was a BMW born revival of the Mini marque designed by Frank Stephenson (Maserati MC12 & Quattroporte, Ferrari F430w & 612 Scaglietti, McLaren  MP4-12C).  In the USA, the Mini was available as a Cooper (basic engine) and Cooper S (supercharged) trim and for many years retained most of its original MSRP.  The Mini Cooper S was a hot item when new and only depreciated significantly when the next generation appeared in 2006, but today you can pick up a used Mini Cooper S for pence on the pound...errr...I mean pfennig on the deutschemark.  Find this 2004 Mini Cooper S with 6-speed manual currently bidding for$4,100 with a day to go, located in Philadelphia, PA.

10k: Tuned And Stickered: 2002 Mini Cooper S

It's hard to hate a MINI cooper driver (unless he or she refers to it as their "BMW MINI"). Yes, there's nothing quite so kitschy as a checkered flag roof, but a general raciness is almost expected from the car that made The Italian Job remake bearable. So you're forgiven if you drive one with side sill extensions and flames, right? Find this 243-horsepower 2002 Mini Cooper S for $8,600 in Texas via NorthAmericanMotoring.com, a MINI forum. Words and tip from DT commenter & contributor  slowcarSLOW-MPGlol.

5k: 2007 Mini Cooper S Pickup - Ex-Redbull Promo Car

It would be easy for DT to feature BMW's new Mini Cooper S - the 2006+ turbocharged versions are fast, fun to drive and inexpensive.  However, we've found one that appeals to the cheapskate and tailgater in us...not tailgating that can get you tickets and car crashes, but tailgating that can get you kicked out of a parking lot before the game starts.  This 2007 Mini Cooper S Pickup is an ex-RedBull Promo car and is currently being offered on ebay for $5,500 no reserve with 1 day left, in a place described only as "DILWORTH, United States." What state is that in?
Edit 10/12/12 2:33pm PST:  Our sharp eye readers notice that this thing is both not an S and no longer for sale.  It is also for sale via the TwinCities Pioneer Press classifieds.
