Manual Gearbox: 2012 Mini Countryman Cooper S ALL4

If I asked you to list all of the late model 4 door sedan/wagons with a turbocharged engine, all-wheel-drive and a manual gearbox, you'd probably come back with a list of Japanese (Subaru!) rally machines and maybe a few random oddballs..but you probably wouldn't suspect that you could find such a setup in an Austrian built car that uses a British marque with a German parent company and a French engine...oh yeah. Find this 2012 Mini Countryman S All-4 offered for $5990 in Claremont, CA via craigslist.

John Cooper "Works" Edition: 2007 Mini Cooper S

This next seller needs a lesson in first impressions -- when you advertise a car, the first thing you should not include in your description is the phrase "works" complete with quotation marks.  What the seller meant to say is that it is the John Cooper Works edition, which is a special edition of the Cooper S from the factory.  One can probably assume it "works" based on the sellers description of it "running amazing" and these little Coopers are cheap cheap cheap these days! Find this 2007 Mini Cooper S JCW offered for $4400 in West Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.

Mini Cooperino: 2002 Mini Cooper S Truck

Whenever I run into a late model Mini Cooper pickup truck (Cooperchero...Minimino?) it is usually one of the RedBull promotional vehicles that has been stripped of its giant can of caffeine and ground bull testes...but those ex-RedBull cars are all automatics, so it is nice to find a Mini Cooperino that has both an S logo and a manual gearbox. Find this 2002 Mini Cooper S Truck offered for $4950 in Laguna Niguel, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

High Miles, Low Price: 2006 Mini Cooper S

This next car comes as a tip from Art C who writes: Higher miles but looks super clean... $3800 seems like a bargain if it checks out. I am a big fan of the new Mini Cooper S and had an argument today if the Cooper S or the Fiat 500 Abarth was a better deal on the used car market today...the discussion continues.  Find this 2006 Mini Cooper S offered for $3800 in Rhode Island via craigslist.

Green In Name Only: 1980 Austin Mini Diesel

The original Austin Mini had a long life (from 1959 through 2000) will mostly engineered changes to the chassis/powertrain/suspension with little to notice on the outside.  The configurations of the Mini were varied and interesting, but it seems they never fitted one with a compression ignited diesel engine from the factory, which is odd given the Europeans thirst for the stuff in recent years, but somebody decided to fix this issue and make a green, but not so green, Mini. Find this 1980 Austin Mini Diesel offered for $14500 in Portland, OR via craigslist. Tip from JB1025.

Eye of the Tiger: 1982 Austin Mini VTEC

This next car pushes the acceptable limit of money you'd want to spend on a modified car...but it does offer a certain degree of classic charm, modern powerplant, and wheel roasting potential.  The best part is that nobody will expect you are driving something from the year that Survivor had their break out hit Eye of the Tiger.  Find this 1982 Austin Mini offered for $20,500 somewhere near Worcester, MA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Mini Dually: 1988 Chevrolet Suburban

The Chevrolet Suburban is this giant monstrosity of a vehicle that combines the awesome power of gasoline with several tons of steel and turns ordinary housewives into combat ready road warriors, but today's Suburban is a serious freakshow before you get to the drivers. Find this 1988 Chevrolet Suburban custom offered for $5,250 in Humble, TX via craigslist. Tip from Skip.

Odd Bucket: 1968 Bremen Mini Mark IV Kit Car

This next car answers the question that is on the tip of everyone's mind: What would Pee Wee Herman drive if he was part of the Munster family?  Which is probably the car that Mr Bean would drive if he were...ehhh...Mr. Bean.  Anyway, find this 1968 Breman Mini Mark IV Kit Car offered for $8000 in the Poconos, PA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Venom: 1961 Morris Mini Cooper with Toyota AE86 SWAP

Spider Man is an interesting hero, but he is mostly clueless and his biggest assets are his perky persona and agile reflexes...sorta like a classic Mini. But imagine, for a minute, if you poured some of the awesome power of someone like the vampire hunter Blade into Peter Parker's suit and spider-abilities...now you'd have a bitchin' superhero like this 1961 Classic Mini Cooper with Toyota AE86 SWAP offered for $10,000 in Santa Cruz, CA via craigslist.

Bag & Tagged: 2004 Mini Cooper

The re-invented 21st century Mini was designed/developed around the turn of the century in a collaboration between Rover and BMW...but ultimately the design was much more Munich and not so much Gaydon.  The car was produced in Oxford, England, but with an American designer, French engines, and German engineering, so it is about as British as bratwurst, Laissez-faire politics, or the metric system.  It was, however, a paradigm of practicality, maneuverability, and unpretentious fun...this next example...not so much.  Find this 2004 Mini Cooper offered for $2,600 in Kennesaw, GA via craigslist. Tip from Jeff.

British Classic: 1980 Austin Mini Cooper

The original Mini was produced for an insanely long period of time -- 41 years to be precise -- with only minor changes from 1959 through 2000.  The long in the tooth Mini was probably the best 1950s designed car you could buy in 1980 (aside from that Alfa convertible thing) but does that mean it was a good car?  It doesn't really matter because today you buy it for the 1960s looks and enjoy 1980s (albeit British) reliability.  Find this 1980 Mini Cooper offered for $5,500 in Litchfield, CO via craigslist. VTEC: 1982 Austin Mini

The original Mini was produced for an insanely long period of time -- 41 years to be precise -- with only minor changes. However, it was always a pokey little puppy, even in the hottest of Clubman 1275 GT trim, so if you want to go fast, you'll need to find a modified example.  Like this 1982 Austin Mini offered for $12,000 in Phoenix, AZ via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Small Fry: 1986 Austin Rover Mini

The classic Mini was built starting in 1959 and production didn't stop until the year 2000, so you might be shocked to learn that the classic looking beast in front of you today was built the year when the UK and France annouced plans to build the Chunnel and Argentina was victorious at the World Cup of Football.  Find this 1986 Austin Mini offered for $9,000 in Converse, TX via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

You Little Trucker: 1966 Austin Mini turned Kenworth

The long term effects of amphetamines and barbiturates, the tool of the 1970's trucker, and a dabble of LSD can be studied using this rolling Rorschach test. Likely devised while licking the last bit of truck-stop cheese grits from the bowl in a 4AM meth-and-Jolt induced fog, this rig, let's call it the Waste-ern Star, was comprised of one half Austin Mini and one half of a lifetime of bad decisions. Find this 1966 Austin Mini turned Peterbilt on craigslist in Dallas for an undisclosed price.

2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe

BMW's revived Mini brand has been on a tear in the past few years with lots of new models and generally positive press.  Mini released the Coupe at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show with raked windshield and funky backwards baseball cap styling attributed to Marcus Syring who is probably best known for his work on the BMW Z3 / M Coupe Clownshoe. Worldwide sales through 2014 totaled under 28,000 units for the Coupe, so Mini canned the car at the end of the 2015 model year.  Find this 2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe offered for $13,500 from a small dealer in Houston, TX. This post is part of DT's 2016 Birthday Celebration of 100 cars; enjoy the ride!

Honda Conversion: 1969 Austin Mini VTEC

The original Austin Mini seems to be a regular recipient of Honda VTEC power, probably because the original BMC A-series engines aren't the most powerful things on the planet, and (more importantly) the little Honda motors just fit.  Find this 1969 Austin Mini VTEC offered for an undisclosed amount of money, located in Pheonix, AZ via craigslist.
