10k: Sandwich Foam: 1968 Chevrolet Van, Kamp King Koach

The first Chevrolet Van was built on the Corvair chassis with a rear mounted aircooled flat-6 and labeled the Greenbrier.  However, the Greenbrier was phased out by 1964/1965 and replaced by the Chevrolet Van that used a more conventional front-mid engine setup.  A regular Chevrolet Van is a great classic to putter around in as a work/weekender truck, but the a camper conversion is less useful, but cooler.  Find this 1968 Chevrolet Van with Kamp King Koach conversion from McNamee Coach Corp for sale in San Diego, CA for $9,500 via craigslist.

10k: Grandest Of Prix: 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix 389-V8

The GTO always takes the glory as the worlds first muscle car, but the Pontiac Grand Prix actually beat the GTO to the market by two years.  Both were heavily influenced by failed narcotics importer John Z DeLorean, featured big engines and minimalistic styling, but the GTO was on the intermediate sized A-body (Tempest) and the Grand Prix was on the full sized B-body (Catalina). In 1962 GM was enjoying a great start to the NASCAR Grand National season, they'd won 18 of the first 20 races and 12 of those wins were full sized Poncho two doors. 1962 was also the year that Pontiac introduced the Grand Prix.  The name hinted at its racing pedigree, after all, it had bucket seats and a center shift console, it had to be a sports car! 10k: Speeding Bullitt: 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt

The fifth generation S197 Mustang was launched in 2005 with well executed retrostyle design and more power from the available V6 and V8 engines.  The design was clean and simple in the V6 models, but got some fancy wings and junk in the V8 GT trim, unless you got the limited Bullitt edition from 2008 or 2009.  The Bullitt package was an appearance and power package available only on GT models in dark highland green (or black) and added some serious Steve McQueen cool to the S197. 10k: Hot Hatch: 1969 Austin America 600hp LT1 V8

The Austin America was internally known as project ADO16 and was the platform for a family of larger than the Mini vehicles including the Austin 1100/1300, MG 1100/1300 and Morris 1100/1300. The ADO16 front drive machine was one of the best selling vehicles in the UK, and it was exported in decent quantities. But the Austin America earned a reputation for poor quality, rust, and repeated mechanical failures. 15k: 911 With Gaul: 1988 Renault Alpine GTA

The Renault Alpine GTA was the answer to the unasked question; What would a 911 look like if Porsche had been owned by the French?  From the rear mounted 6-cylinder to the 2+1.5 seating the Alpine GTA was everything you wanted in Renault 911...but only if you wanted the performance of a 944, looks of a Camaro/928 and built quality of a DeLorean.  It even shared the PRV V6 engine with its Northern Irish cousin but was covered in a slippery smooth plastic/fiberglass body.  Find this 1988 Renault Alpine GTA for sale in Ontario, Canada for $16,900 CDN ($16,150 USD) from rightdrive.ca.

5k: Pooh Brown: 1987 Toyota Tercel Wagon SR5 AWD 5-spd

The 2nd generation S20 Toyota Tercel wasn't a fast car by any yardstick, but it was one of the only wagons to feature all-wheel-drive and a 6-speed manual transmission.  The transmission was really a 5 speed with an additional granny gear for hill climbing, but it did indeed have 6 forward gears when even most sports cars had 4 or 5.  Find this 1987 Toyota Tercel Wagon SR5 5-spd for sale in Helena, MT for $3,200 via craigslist.

15k: Shot Caller: 1966 Chevrolet Impala 396ci

The 4th generation Chevrolet Impala was a full-sized body-on-frame sedan from General Motors that was available with multiple inline six, small block and big block V8 powertrains.  When introduced in 1965 it set an all time sales record for any vehicle with over 1 million units sold in one year, a record that hasn't been beaten to this day (and probably won't be given the small-sliced segments sold currently). The '65 was the last year of the iconic small triple rear round taillights, but the redesigned rear end for '66 actually looks better.
