15k DT Flash: 2007 BMW 550i 6spd

We would like to dedicate this post to our appreciation of  depreciation.  Dictionary.com defines it as: de·pre·ci·a·tion [dih-pree-shee-ey-shuhn] noun 1. decrease in value due to wear and tear, decay, decline in price, etc.  We define depreciation as this 2007 BMW 550i 6spd with original MSRP of more than $60k, now for sale at the Fiat of Strongsville, OH for the price of $16,495 - roughly the price of a new cinquecento.

The E60 BMW 5 series was the pinnacle of the controversial Bangle styling - but we think it will stand out from all of the other beige mid 2000s cars years from now.  Until it becomes a collectible you will need to live with the funky styling.

5k: 1963 Datsun Pickup

Most of the time when we find a sweet car for the Daily Turismo we give some background, make stupid puns, make jokes, blah blah blah.  But with this car, we first have to figure out what it is..since the ad says that it is a 1963 Datsun 1200 Pickup for sale on ebay in Twin Falls, ID currently bidding at $2,075 reserve-not-met.  However, Nissan didn't release the 1200 until 1970 and this car clearly looks older, so we need to do some digging.

10k: 1969 Ford Bronco with Juice

The Bronco was a small SUV build by Ford to complete with Jeep's CJ and the International Harvester Scout.  In stock trim the Bronco was a competent off-roader but most have been modified to go faster and climb steeper hills.  This 1969 Ford Bronco was built in the year that OJ "The Juice" Simpson was drafted to the NFL and is currently for sale on ebay for a buy-it-now price of $9,500 in Greenwood, DE.

5k DT Flash: 1975 Mazda RX3 Station Wagon

The Mazda RX-3 (known domestically in Japan as the Savanna) was available from 1971-1978 as a coupe, sedan and station wagon.  It was light, rear-wheel-drive and powered by a free-revving Wankel rotary engine - and today they are inexpensive and would make a great Daily Turismo.  This 1975 Mazda RX-3 station wagon project is for sale in Salinas, CA via ebay currently bidding at $6,000 with 2 days to go.

This 1975 RX3 is the later facelifted version and has the awesome shark nose look.  The wheels are larger than stock - but not so much that they look ridiculous.  Paint is new a "$4000" Sherwin Williams paint job - check those receipts and be very critical of overspray and potential problems as a new paint job takes time to fully settle.

DTween: 1968 VW Van: Jack Kevorkian Death Van

Today's Horrorod comes with a serious side - not only is it a gruesomely slow and dilapidated, but it was owned by a notorious murderer and was the site of many deaths.  Jack Kevorkian was a well known advocate for euthanasia (not to be confused with 'youth-in-asia' - that is much different) and assisted suicide for terminally ill or suicidal folks - but which ever side of the death debate you find yourself, you've got to agree this 1968 VW Type 2 Van previously used by Kevorkian to conduct his 'business' is extremely creepy and we wouldn't set foot in it  (Thanks to DT reader Erich for the tip).

15k DT Flash: Restored 1950 Mercury, Stock Sled

Back in 1949 Ford Motor Company introduced the first post-war Mercury design, which was then just called the "Eight" as there was only one model. But one was all they needed to spark the imaginations of Rebels and customizers across America. This 1950 4-door sedan's design is little changed from the '49 and was completely restored in the early '90s. The car is completely stock except for dual exhaust - a rarity these days since the '49-'51 Merc is the quintessential "Lead Sled" and almost all of them have been customized by now. This clean '50 sedan is available here on ebay, with bidding near $13k and a $17,500 Buy it Now price in northern Virginia.

Dark green over mint two-tone is an odd color scheme, but the chrome shaver grille looks immaculate.

10k: 1996 Hummer H1 Limo "Oceans 1"

If you have a large family and find that you are exceeding the limit of minivans, but don't like the fuel economy of full sized vans - we want to point you to used limousines.  Limos can cost mega-bucks when new, but for some reason are very cheap used, possibly due to questionable build quality and the lingering stench of vomit.  Let's hope that isn't the case for this 1996 Hummer H1 Limo, which is for sale in St. Pete Beach, FL from a character called "Limo Bob" and is currently bidding on ebay for $10,000 with 3 days to go.

10k: 1966 Ford Country Squire

The Ford Country Squire was a full sized station wagon build on Ford's Galaxy platform  (and later the LTD).  The fourth generation Country Squire (1965-1968), based on the third generation Galaxy, was available with a smorgasbord variety of engine options and Ford's nifty magic door gate (more on that later).  This 1966 Ford Country Squire has been through a major restoration and is avialable in Los Angeles, CA for $11,300 via craigslist.

10k: Fiat 124 Spyder Vintage Racer HSR VDCA SVRA SCCA PDQ

We at the Daily Turismo enjoy a good auto race - its probably the only spectator sport that actually gets our hearts pumping and we are particularly fond of vintage racing - modern auto races tend to be parades lead by the teams who have cheated spent more on development with each car being tenths of a second faster than the next.  Additionally modern race cars tend to have suspensions with zero travel and don't look like they are going fast because they move so little around the track.  This isn't the case with a vintage race as the cars tend to be hugely varied (lots of David & Goliath battles) and they lean like an Italian pleasure ship.  However, getting behind the wheel of a vintage racer often requires Jay Leno levels of resources, so it is refreshing when we see a racer like this Fiat 124 Spyder Vintage Racer for sale in Orlando, FL for $8,750 with 2 days to go, via ebay.

5k: 1969 Dodge A-108 Xplorer 21 Camper Van

The Dodge A-100 Van/Pickup was a popular Mopar competitor to the VW Van and Ford Econoline.  The A-108 was a long wheelbase version available from 1967-70 used primarily for camper conversions.  This 1969 Dodge A-108 Xplorer 21 Camper Van is for sale in Lincoln, Nebraska for $4300 via craigslist.  (Thanks to tip from DT reader Andy L)

DT COW: Commenter of the Week

This week's commenter of the week originally posted an anonymous comment about a month ago and one of our regulars (Larry) made the following comment: "If you're going to continue making witty comments, you should start using another screen name. "The commenter of the week is anonymous" will sound a little strange."  Mr Anonymous subsequently put a name on his comments and won our commenter of the week prize this week with the following comment about the el-cheapo Lancer Shelby Shelby Lancer:  "Shelby, Smelby. A K-car by any other name is still Krap." Click thru the jump to see the winner.

15k DT Flash: 1997 BMW M3 with Corvette LS3/T56

We at the Daily Turismo continue to profess our love of the E36 M3 for its handling, speed and low entry cost.  This DT Flash entry stretches those assumptions a bit but we can't help but be impressed by this car.  Some creative lunatic took a 1997 BMW M3 and added a Corvette LS3 V8 and T56 manual transmission and is now selling it in Orlando, FL via craigslist for $22,500 asking.  (editor's note: Before you jump up and down screaming its too expensive and is above our self imposed $17.5k price limit, please note that we think it is over priced at the current asking and at $17.5k would still be a high price for a 200k mile chassis E36 with V8.) Thanks to tip from DT reader DanG.

This E36 has been lowered, tinted, and has aftermarket wheels, front lip, blacked out grill - but still manages to look good- not too riced out.

5k: 1967 Barnard Formula 6 Vintage Go-Kart

Today's DT feature reminds us of the time Homer Simpson once famously said "You know, Marge, that Bart is a little miracle – his winning smile, his button nose, his fat little stomach, his face alight with wholesome mischief. He reminds me of me before the weight of the world crushed my spirit."  Here is your chance to re-live the days before the weight of the world crushed your spirit with a 1967 Barnard Formula 6 Vintage Go-kart for sale on ebay with a buy-it-now price of $1,800 and located in Dublin, OH.

5k: Panzer IV Tank Project; 1:2 Scale

Most 'Some Assembly Required' and 'Zombie-Proof' badged vehicles on the Daily Turismo are horrific things that no-one in his right mind would bid on - and today's featured vehicle is awesome and would be welcome in our garage.  This home-built Panzer IV Tank project is for sale on ebay in Paragould, AR currently bidding at $1,275 reserve-not-met with 4 days to go.

15k Flash: 1995 International Mobile Mammogrammy Van

We aren't sure exactly what to make of the 1995 International powered Mobile Mammogrammy van - but we are pretty sure this is how the Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis got his start.  The van is located in Miami, FL and for sale on ebay with bidding starting at $12,000 reserve not met.

We think this beast would make a great business venture as-is or modify to make it a race car hauler or gourmet food truck.

DTween 5k: Motorcycle Hearse Trailer; Horrorod

If a full sized hearse won't fit in your driveway, and a VW powered casket-car isn't moving enough for you - perhaps you should consider this unspecified model year Motorcycle Hearse Trailer located in Belle Fourche, SD currently for sale on ebay bidding starts at $3,000, reserve-not-met.

10k Flash: 2006 Mazdaspeed 6

The Mazda 6 is a 4 door sedan from the Japanese manufacturer Mazda, best known for its wild rotary powered two door RX-7/8 and simple yet efficient corner carving MX-5 convertible.  Mazda built a version to compete with other sporty sedans and sold it as the Mazdaspeed 6 from 2005-2007.  This 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 is for sale on ebay for $10,900 obo, and located at a Dealer's lot in Philadelphia, PA.

This single owner Mazdaspeed 6 is a nice 1970's shade of poo-brown and is currently sitting lower than stock.

10k DT Flash: 1965 Ford Cortina

The Ford Cortina Mk 1 was a lightweight (1700 lbs) sedan built by Ford in the United Kingdom from 1962-1966.  This 1965 Ford Cortina GT is for sale on ebay, currently bidding at $9,000 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go and is located in Santa Barbara, CA.  It is powered by a 1.5 liter inline 4 cylinder engine that has been hopped up to put out 84 horsepower and mated to a 4-speed manual transmission powering the rear wheels.  The Ford Cortina is one of our favorite 60s hipster two-door sedans and this particular example looks to be in great shape inside and out.

DT: Introducing Daily Turismo Flash

We at the Daily Turismo like to introduce new features to from time to time that can help our audience.  While we cannot provide the kind of professional help that some of our readers need - we can provide more cars and more articles.  But to do that would mean spending less time on the things that we normally do each day- such as, in no particular order: waiting in line at the pharmacy for our meds; thinking of new anagrams for the word "Volvo"; driving safely under the speed limit; work; smoking meat; fixing garage doors, etc.  So we've introduced a new style of article called DT Flash that is shorter than our premium feature articles.

5k: 1951 Willys M38 Jeep

As a contrast to the '75 FJ40 featured today, we thought it would be fun to consider this little home-grown alternative OG-SUV, and the inspiration for the Land Cruiser in the first place. This servicable little Willys M38 was the successor to the Willys MB and Ford GPW jeeps produced during WWII, and is just about as basic of a four wheel drive vehicle as can be found. This one is very reasonably priced, seems to be rust free and has tons of character. This 1951 Willys M38 is being sold on ebay with bidding near $4k with no reserve, only a few hours remaining, and located in southwest Iowa.
