Chevy V8 Powered: 1974 Porsche 911 Targa

The Porsche 911 market stands (not alone) on a pedestal of speculation, but occasionally a branch falls off the tree, or is low enough for the average man to grab hold...but don't expect lower priced 911 to be ready for the next Luftgekühlt.  This one might not even make it to the nearest 7-11 -- it's gonna need some work.  Find this 1974 Porsche 911 Targa offered for $13,000 in Inland Empire Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

Power to wait: 1969 Fiat 850 Spider

According to any gearhead you ask, we live in the golden age of horsepower.  Today, even a minivan approaches 300 hp.  Back in the summer of '69, very few cars could dream of  such numbers. Such is the case with our current victim, post fodder, example.  Find this 1969 Fiat 850 Spider for sale in Mendocino County, CA for $7,500 via craigslist.

Fast 'n' Cheap: 1995 BMW M3 E36

If you want to go fast but not spend a bunch of money, there is a little secret in the used car market known as the E36 generation BMW M3.  These things are cheap...really cheap when you compare them to E30 M3, E39 M5, Porsche 911, MkIV Supra and various other overpriced modern classics.  Find this 1995 BMW M3 offered for $6,500 near Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.

40¢/lb: 1965 Ford Galaxies (3)

One of the schools of thought for buying a classic car says that you should always buy the biggest car you can get for the least amount of money...which is great if you run a scrap yard or a recycling plant, but maybe not the best idea if you actually want to enjoy driving your classic.  But...there is something about paying a minimum dollars per pound that appeals to the shopper in anyone.  Take a look at this package deal of three 1965 Ford Galaxies offered for $4,900 located in Littleton, CO.

3400 V6 Power: 1985 Pontiac Fiero GT V6

Long before Pontiac was neutered and left out to die in the 2008 carpocalypse, it was one of the brighter facets of GM's global portfolio.  The glory days included the 1964 GTO, which gave birth to the 60s muscle car formula by sticking a huge engine in a plain Jane mid-sized chassis, and the last gasp of Pontiac brilliance (before it was turned into a badge-engineering factory) was a little 2-seat thing called the Fiero.  Find this 1985 Pontiac Fiero GT V6 offered for $3,500 CAD ($2678 USD) in Vancouver, BC via craigslist.

Customized: 1972 Datsun 240Z Roadster

More often than not, when you find an inexpensive classic with the keywords "custom" in the description, the resulting object looks like Amber Heard's face after the reviews of Mortdecai hit news stands.  This next "custom," however, bucks those trends and looks surprisingly together for a...well...Frankenstein.  Find this 1972 Datsun 240Z Roadster offered for $12,000 in San Diego, CA.  Tip from Rob.

Honda Conversion: 1969 Austin Mini VTEC

The original Austin Mini seems to be a regular recipient of Honda VTEC power, probably because the original BMC A-series engines aren't the most powerful things on the planet, and (more importantly) the little Honda motors just fit.  Find this 1969 Austin Mini VTEC offered for an undisclosed amount of money, located in Pheonix, AZ via craigslist.

Mid Week Match-Up: Band Bus For Jim

Today's Mid Week Match-Up is a request from Jim who writes:  I am on a band with 4 friends in the north east. we play local shows once in a while. So far we have been getting by with a couple of hatch backs, but now we are beginning to book tours regionally and multiple cars are not going to cut it. We need a vehicle that will carry a minimum of 5, bass, drums, keys guitars and amps. Room for a bed would be a plus. It has to be reliable and mpg is important.needs parkway windows. Could be a cargo van that we add an interior to. 10k is our upper limit but less is more better.  I am thinking diesel van but open to creative suggestions eg limo, ambulance etc.

Former K9 Cop Car: 2002 Ford Explorer XLT

People routinely ask me the best car for their particular situation and transportation needs.  They typically ignore my well thought out advice and go buy some overpriced pile of depreciation from the first dealer lot they drunk-walk into (oooh...it smells newwwww) but that doesn't matter because I will continue to dole out unheeded advice like the smelly preacher-man at Sproul Plaza.  So, you need a car to transport your feral children to school/birthday parties/soccer camp?  Find this 2002 Ford Explorer XLT here on eBay bidding for $780 reserve-not-met with $3,200 buy-it-now located in Haysville, KS.

Find this 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle here on eBay offered for $13,900 located in Blue Ridge, TX with 19 days to go.

Tuk Tuk 'n' Roll: 1959 Daihatsu Midget Tri-Mobile

The Daihatsu Midget might have not been the first motorscooter based three-wheeler (that honor belongs probably the the Piaggio Ape), but the Midget was synonymous with the name Tuk-Tuk all over Southeast Asia starting in the late 1950s.  For whatever reason, they never caught on over here in North America (aside from large companies like Boeing and Lockheed using them for inner plant transport), but that shouldn't stop you from having one in your garage for an inner city commuter.  Find this 1959 Daihatsu Midget Tri-Mobile offered for $2,500 in Hawthorne, CA via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.
