Xtra Lively: 1970 Ford XL Convertible

The Ford Galaxie was launched in 1959 as a plus sized top of the line version of the already fullsized Ford Fairlane, but by 1970 it was known simply by the name XL...which didn't stand for Xtra Large but meant Xtra Lively.  This next car is a beast of a classic for that is powered by a 390V8 and has a cool coat of brownz (yeah...brown and bronze) paint and hidden headlamps all offered for a very reasonable price.  Find this 1970 Ford XL Convertible offered for $8900 in Ramona, CA via craigslist.

Mid Week Match-Up: Band Bus For Jim

Today's Mid Week Match-Up is a request from Jim who writes:  I am on a band with 4 friends in the north east. we play local shows once in a while. So far we have been getting by with a couple of hatch backs, but now we are beginning to book tours regionally and multiple cars are not going to cut it. We need a vehicle that will carry a minimum of 5, bass, drums, keys guitars and amps. Room for a bed would be a plus. It has to be reliable and mpg is important.needs parkway windows. Could be a cargo van that we add an interior to. 10k is our upper limit but less is more better.  I am thinking diesel van but open to creative suggestions eg limo, ambulance etc.

Gravitational Pull: 1969 Ford Galaxie XL 429

The New Horizon's probe, originally launched in 2006, has completed its flyby of the hunk of rock known as Pluto (apparently Pluto lost its membership in the Planet Club after showing up to the annual awards dinner completely drunk and without pants...never change Pluto, never change) and has moved on to exploring other giant celestial objects, and today we've got some pictures hot off the digital analyzers of something called a Ford.  Find this 1969 Ford Galaxie XL 429 here on eBay bidding for $6,600 with 1 day to go, located in Parkersburg, IA.

10k: Big n Tall: 1970 Ford Galaxie XL 500

When Ford picked a name for their new full-sized offering in 1959, the discussion went like this, we need a name for a car that is bigger than a house, bigger than a city block, bigger than the country, bigger than the earth, bigger than the solar system...how about a galaxy?  Yeah that is big, but let's change the spelling to we don't get sued.  Done. It is amazing that I could find the old transcript, but that's the way it went down.  Find this  1970 Ford Galaxie XL 500 offered for $8,500 in Priest River, ID via craigslist.  Tip from Oldsmobuick.

5k: Discount Big Block: 1970 Ford Galaxie XL 429 ThunderJet

Finding a two door American car with a big block V8 for cheap is one of the things that puts a smile on my face.  Far too many big American coupes are traded between wealthy folks via Barrett Jackson or Mecum auctions...but not today!  Find this 1970 Ford Galaxie XL 429 ThunderJet offered for $7,500 in Ocean County, NJ via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.
