French Bread: 1968 Citroën 2CV

The Citroen (Citroën) 2CV (en français -- deux chevaux)  was a front drive economy car that had prototype builds starting in 1939 with innovative features like a flat-twin aircooled engine and seats that could be removed from the car and used as picnic chairs. Find this 1968 Citroën 2CV offered for $4300 in Fort Plain, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Like A Nova: 1973 Oldsmobile Omega

The original Oldsmobile Omega was a badge engineered version of the X-platform Chevrolet Nova and was sold in two generations 1973-1974 and 1975-1979.  The Omega was more luxurious than the Nova it was based on, but it still rode on the same basic chassis and is just as wonderful or horrible depending on who you talk to about it.  Novas in good shape demand some coin, but the equivalent Oldsmobile Omega (or Buick Apollo or Pontiac Ventura) are offered for cheap. Find this 1973 Oldsmobile Omega offered for $6,500 in Spokane, WA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Super Happy Occupants: 1992 Ford Taurus SHO

Remember the time when only nutty people drove fast cars?  Most everybody else just picked something to get them from point A to point B, but a small group of nutters knew how to select cool options and get themselves into something that might spin off the road or burst into flames at point C.  Yeah, now every modern car is stupid fast and this next thing is slower than your neighbors new Camry...but at least its got a manual gearbox and a little bit of something called character. Find this 1992 Ford Taurus SHO offered for $4900 in Ventura, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

1983 Bremen Sebring

This next car comes from tipper John who writes:  I found one of these in the DT archives but it's been a while. Certainly never seen one on dubs with the owner posing in the lead photo!  TBH the price doesn't seem crazy in light of what appears to be excellent condition. I'd find some 16" turbine style wheels, see if I could bring down the ride height in the rear, and then enjoy it!  Find this 1983 Bremen Sebring offered for $7800 in Chesterfield, VA via craigslist.

The Rothman Special: 1928 Model A Ford Sprint Car

I'm not sure what the going rate for an old Ford Model A Sprint car is these days, but I can tell you that this would be a great car to compete in the next The Race of Gentlemen or a daily driver for a fair weather commute. I can tell you one thing, to build this car, it would cost more than the asking price. Find this 1928 Model A Ford Sprint Car here on eBay offered for $8,500 buy-it-now located in Reading, PA.

V8 Swapped: 1959 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite

The Austin Healey Sprite was known as the 'Bugeye' in the US and the "Frogeye' in the UK...we can only assume that Frogs look like Bugs in dreary overcast Britain...but this next Bugeye has a spring in his step like none other.  In face, this little Frogeye wants to be a Cobra when it grows up. Find this 1959 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite here on eBay offered for $10,500 buy-it-now or make-offer located in Anaheim, CA with a few hours to go.

9-Second Sleeper: 1993 Geo Tracker LQ4 Turbo

As an apology to all of you readers for the pink Studebaker Avanteaf thing the other day, I wanna post an engine swap that is properly done.  Something that'll put a smile on your face and black stripes on the ground.  Like a 9 second Geo Tracker. Find this 1993 Geo Tracker LQ4 Turbo here on eBay with starting bid of $10,000 and buy-it-now for $14,500.

Chevy V8 Power: 1976 Jaguar XJ Series 2

This next car came with a burst of small block enhanced déjà vu.  I swear I've seen this exact same car before...offered for a same price..but it appears the car listed here in 2017 for roughly the same price and condition is NOT the same car but a doppelganger.  So...do the same reasons for featuring that car still apply?  You bet!  The added reliability and reduced cost of the Chebby swap makes me wanna have a V8. Find this 1976 Jaguar XJ Series 2 offered for  $4,500 in Lebanon, OR via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Pepto Abysmal: 1979 Avanti converted to Electric

This next car is an interesting combination of new and old.  Of eclectic and electric. Of forward thinking and green style. Of pink and blue.  Yes.  Somebody put a Studebaker Avanti body on top of a Nissan Leaf chassis and I don't know if I should be excited or disgusted. Find this 1979 Avanti converted to Electric Leaf offered for $23000 in Pembina, ND via craigslist. Tip from Adam.

Unlikely Survivor: 1982 Toyota Tercel Corolla

This next car comes from tipper Matt C who writes: I don't know how or why somebody managed to keep a 1982 Toyota Tercel in such good condition; most Japanese cars from that era would at least be showing some interior wear beyond the steering wheel, or faded or dinged paint. Plus, this one is an SR5 with a manual transmission, and period-correct rocker panel graphics. Find this 1982 Toyota Tercel Corolla offered for $2900 in Marietta, GA via craigslist.

Poor Man's Dino: 1979 Kelmark GT Ferrari Kit

Let's face a basic truth. Kit cars aren't for everybody. For everybody who would ever consider owning a kit car, there are probably 50 people who wouldn't touch one..but that only makes them more exclusive and more special...right?  No. Oh.  Okay, well, I still think this would make one sweet daily driver and a much better alternative to a used Honda Corolla ST any day of the week. Find this 1979 Kelmark GT Ferrari Dino Kit offered for $6,500 in Vancouver, WA via craigslist.  Tip from Rock On!

Little, Yellow, Different, Better: 1960 Nash Metropolitan

This next car comes as a tip from SecondMouse who writes: Before there were compact cars, there were Nash Metropolitans. And you can't miss this one, in bright yellow. These cars were the perfect contrarian vehicle at the time. Buying one must have been like trading a Suburban for a Smart car. They are so odd, they put a smile on your face. This one needs a little work, but it runs and drives, and looks pretty good for the price. Find this 1960 Nash Metropolitan offered for $5500 near Houston, TX via craigslist.

Pizza Box Scoop: 1984 Nissan 200SX S12 Turbo

I'm feeling nostalgic.  Nostalgic for a time when license plates were blue...louvers were cool...turbochargers were only available on performance cars...and hood scoops were shaped like pizza boxes. Find this 1984 Nissan 200SX S12 Turbo offered for $4000 in East Bay Area, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Italian Style: 1973 Fiat 124 Sport Spider

This next car reminds me of a time when classic European sports cars were sold for less than $5k on Autotrader print magazines found at your local 7-11 market (Autotrader stopped printing the English language version of their classifieds in 2013)...and unfortunately I've got to think that this car is either (A) already gone or (B) a scammers lure meant to catch a big fish.  Either way, I'm not biting.  But maybe I should? Find this 1973 Fiat 124 Sport Spider offered for $3750 in Santa Cruz, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

French Fried: 1990 Peugeot 405 Mi16

The Peugeot 405 was a Pininfarina designed sedan from the French automaker Peugeot S.A., built from 1987 through 1997.  Actually, they still make a halal version of the 405 in Iran and Egypt for local consumption, but the car was replaced by the 406 in Europe and by the early 1990s the entire Peugeot lineup was pulled from the US market. The Mi16 version was the sportiest of the 405 lineup, not exactly something you'd phone home about...but beggars can't be choosers...I guess. Find this 1990 Peugeot 405 Mi16 offered for $8250 in Great Falls, VA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

A WRX By Any Other Name: 2005 Saab 9-2X Aero

The Saab 9-2X (aka the Saabaru) tones down some of the boy racer Japanime styling of the Subaru Impreza WRX, but keeps the neck-snapping turbocharged 2 liter flat-4 and asphalt-gripping all-wheel-drive.  Saab sold a few more than 10,000 examples of the odd little wagon and this next one is high mile example, but cheap. Time to lift it a few inches, add some mud tires, exo-skeleton, and skid plate for the ultimate Saabajaru.  Find this 2005 Saab 9-2X Aero offered for $4,400 in Fremont, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

5-Speeds, All Fun: 1995 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo Z32

The 300ZX was a 2 door sports car from Nissan during the great Japanese sports car boom of the 1990s and featured a host of technology in a Isao Sono & Toshio Yamashita designed body.  In recent years the 300ZX's competitors (Supra, NSX, 993) have gone through their depreciation curves and the good original ones are commanding prices that exceed their original MSRP, but for some reason the 300ZX (and Mitsu's 3000GT/Dodge Stealth) have been floundering around in the cheap seats, but MAYBE, just MAYBE we are starting to see a budget of appreciation for the twin turbo V6 powered classics.  Get 'em while they're cheap.  Find this 1995 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo Z32 offered for $16,588 in Metairie, LA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.
