If you are ever in the community of Chantilly located in the western portion of Fairfax County, VA with a few hours to spend there is a small dealer you might want to visit.  The name Triple Z Motors does not sound impressive, but these guys have the market cornered on high powered, righteously depreciated, luxury sleds.  In their inventory they have a 2003 Mercedes-Benz AMG CL55, 2003 Audi RS6, 1997 Bentley Brooklands & 2004 Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI all between $12-$20k.  Let's take a closer look.

10k: Modestly Awesome: 1974 MGB GT Rover V8

The MGB GT was a fixed roof version of Morris Garage's iconic MGB roadster, introduced in 1965 and built through 1980 for various markets.  When first released, the GT used the same BMC B-series inline-4 cylinder engine, but added small back seats for miniature passengers and Pininfarina designed greenhouse with a fastback lift-gate and storage area.  In 1973, MG offered a V8 powered version of the MGB GT, but the increase in engine power was minimal and original examples cost beaucoup bucks, so why not pickup a homemade version with some extra power?  Find this 1974 MGB GT Rover V8 currently bidding for $7,303 on ebay reserve-not-met with 4 days to go, located in Denver, CO.

10k: Seller Submission: 1991 Audi Coupé Quattro 20V

The B3 generation Audi 80 was sold from in 1986 through 1991 as a sedan, coupe and cabriolet.  The coupe version dropped the 80 nomenclature in 1988 and became known simply as the Audi Coupé.  This generation of Audi Coupe isn't quite as iconic as the original Ur-Quattro, but it offers better drive-ability and ergonomics for a better price.  Find this 1991 Audi Coupé Quattro 20V offered for $8,500 via fourtitude.com forums. What Was The Last Car To Have A 4-Speed Manual?

Time for a quick trivia question for our readers, which was inspired by some city driving this morning.  The Subaru I was driving has a 6-speed manual gearbox, which is great in theory, with closer gear spacing for maniacal acceleration at all times.  Unfortunately, in city driving it is a busy experience and I almost spilled my latte-frappucino-vodka-milkshake.  It made me wonder with all the 6-speeds you see in vehicles like a 2014 Kia Rio if anyone still sells a 5-speed manual?  Of course you can get one in a 2014 Honda Fit, or 2014 Subaru Impreza, but the days of the 5-speed are numbered because you can get a few more MPG on the EPA certified fuel economy test when properly designed.  Then I thought, what was the last car to have a 4-speed manual gearbox?

 The Chevy II was introduced in 1962 as GM's competitor to the compact Ford Falcon and eventually assumed the name Nova in 1969.  The II/Nova was never designed to be a revolutionary car like the rear air-cooled engined Corvair and instead was a bare bones 18 month concept-to-showroom front engine rear drive compact that appealed more to mainstream conservative buyers in the mid 60s.  Today, the first generation Nova is reasonably affordable and high production numbers mean you can find one in various condition for every budget...like a crazy tire shredding wagon for about $10k.  Find this 1965 Chevy Nova Wagon offered for $10,499 buy-it-now on ebay, located in Dana Point, CA with one day to go.  Tip from Hank M.

10k: Canadian Military Pattern: 1943 Chevrolet CMP Heavy Utiliy Machine ZL-1

Memorial Day was yesterday, so why not post another cool military ride. The CMP (Canadian Military Pattern) truck was a military vehicle built from pre-war designs created by various Canadian manufacturers for British Commonwealth ally use.  The CMP was essentially a larger version of the US Army Jeep -- a communal design built by anyone with a foundry and sheet metal die capability.  Of the various versions made only a few were produced for wireless set repair specification as the repairmen found the vehicle too small for the required job.  Find this 1943 Chevrolet CMP Heavy Utiliy Machine ZL-1 currently bidding for $8,431.61 CAD ($7,750 USD) on ebay located in Vancouver, BC, Canada with a few hours to go.

10k: Memorial Day Madness: 1983 Pinzgauer 710K Radio Truck

You don't really wish someone a Happy Memorial Day.  Blessed doesn't work either...you could go with something like have a Safe Memorial Day, but it still sounds flat.  I think the preferred greeting should be -- Remember Memorial Day, because that is what we are tasked with doing.  Remember the fallen heroes of wars past and current.

Welcome to Memorial Day at the Daily Turismo, time to fire up the BBQ and get things cooking. 10k: 2002 Cadillac Eldorado Special Edition

The Cadillac Eldorado was first built as a convertible halo car on the Series 62 platform in 1953, but became its own unique thing in 1967 when it was transferred to a front-drive platform and designated a personal luxury coupe where it survived until 2002.  The personal luxury coupe market segment is somewhat of a dying breed as OEMs focus on Nürburgring lap times and meaningless performance statistics like 0-60 and 1/4 mile when 99.99 percent of the owners of a new Cadillac will never drive on a track.  The eleventh generation Eldorado dates from the era when Cadillac made cars to be driven on the street and comfort was more important than 60 ft times.  Find this 2002 Cadillac Eldorado Special Edition offered for $11,500 buy-it-now or best offer on ebay, in Columbus, GA.

10k: French Loaf: 1988 Citroën CX Estate

The CX fastback/wagon was the last Citroën designed by the small company (that was once Europe's largest automobile manufacturer) before it was taken over by Peugeot.  The CX used Citroën's bizarre oleopneumatic self leveling suspension system and a transverse front mounted inline-4 powering the front wheels (this was a brake from the traditional DS layout of the mid-longitudinal engine powering the front wheels, but probably much cheaper to design/build/service).  The CX isn't a bad way to get into a bizzaro world designed French car that you might be able to drive every day...might.  Find this 1988 Citroën CX Estate offered for $9,900 in Los Gatos, CA via craigslist.   Tip from KBZ. 

15k: Seldom Scene: 1967 Volvo Amazon 123GT

The Seldom Scene is a bluegrass band - a mighty good one if you are into banjo pickin, fiddling and mandolining.  Interestingly enough, the band was true to its name and mostly recorded albums and infrequently played in public because all band members had day jobs, a cartographer, mathematician, physician and graphic artist among their midst.  While Seldom had a folksy progressive bluegrass style and pale in comparison to greats like Ralph Stanley, Flatt & Scruggs or Jim & Jesse, but they did have a few good albums and they grew a decent following by being seldom scene in public.  This effect of exclusivity breeding value is not unknown to marketers and it is a cataclysmic force in the used car market.   Take this 1967 Volvo Amazon 123GT for instance, bidding for $12,100 reserve-not-met with 5 days to go in Hanover, MD.

5k: Monza in Corsa Clothes: 1965 Corvair Monza Convertible

Sometimes we get lucky and life presents us with choices which are in black and white, but most of the time we live in the dog-eat-dog world where its all varying shades of gray, just like those stippled portraits in the NYTimes and this White/Black 1965 Corvair Monza convertible in Tumtum, WA which is currently offered on Ebay with a required opening bid of  $4,400 but no bids in play, with just one day left to run. This car's white/black color combination and generally decent appearance isn't enough to overcome its elements of gray which seem to be keeping the bidders away; making it ripe for a DT pick.

The recent K-car feature got a good number of comments, and they continue to trickle in. This morning, in a major development, we heard from none other than the illustrious president and founder of the Chrysler K-Car Club, Guy V.Coulombe! Standing up for the K, with a stiff upper lip:
