MGBs exuded a jaunty personality ever since their introduction (at the Earls Court motor show in September 1962, priced at £690 plus £259 tax), yet they were always lacking in some soup. They
carried on with the same basic shape, design until '74 when the US
DOT safety Nazis ruined a really good looking car. MG's solution was to
fashion ugly chunks of black rubber that should have been a warning to
all Hollywood starlets considering collagen/botox lip injections. There's been a run of MGBs with mod's on this site lately...but when someone
takes the time to convert/revert a black bumpered '79 into a pre-'74
small bumper, chrome grille car, and presents it with quality pictures

The MGB GT was a fixed roof version of Morris Garage's iconic MGB roadster, introduced in 1965 and built through 1980 for various markets. When first released, the GT used the same BMC B-series inline-4 cylinder engine, but added small back seats for miniature passengers and Pininfarina designed greenhouse with a fastback lift-gate and storage area. In 1973, MG offered a V8 powered version of the MGB GT, but the increase in engine power was minimal and original examples cost beaucoup bucks, so why not pickup a homemade version with some extra power? The Triumph TR8 is the Rover V8 powered cousin of the wedge shaped TR7 and was built in limited quantities for the North American market from 1978-1980. TR8 enthusiasts estimate fewer than 1000 of the convertible versions still exist in various shape today, so finding on that is road worthy for $5k isn't bad at all.
