Classic 80s Box: 1983 Toyota Celica GTS

Hey, do you remember when Toyota built cool affordable rear-drive sports coupes? Yeah, and do you remember when they weren't obscenely overpriced due to the Fast & Furious crowd having jobs now? Yeah.  Not talking about a Supra. I'm talking about this 1983 Toyota Celica GTS offered for $3,800 in Seattle, WA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Full Sized Beast: 1966 Buick Electra 225

I've had some discussions with other DT talking heads about what year was the pinnacle of automotive perfection.  To me the answer is easy -- 1965, the year that you could buy an original Fastback Mustang or a gorgeous C2 Corvette or a 65 Buick Roadmaster unencumbered by smog equipment or safety stuff, but DT's cub reporter Hunsbloger thinks that 1967 was a better year because most cars now had dual circuit brakes, seat belts in both front and rear and four-way flashers -- a minimum he believes for safety on modern roads or track days.  Let's just split the difference and agree that 1966 is the best year and enjoy it with this 1966 Buick Electra 225 offered for $995 in Naples, FL via craigslist. Luxury Trimmed: 1981 Mazda 626 5 Speed

This next car comes in as a tip from Matt C who writes: I had to check if this was the same brown, rear wheel drive, four door, manual transmission Mazda 626 that I sent in two years ago. It isn't, which is good because it would have been sad to see that earlier example get so badly deteriorated in such a short time. But it is running, driving, and looks like it could be saved with a little effort. Find this 1981 Mazda 626 5 Speed offered for $1000 in Milledgeville, GA via craigslist.

Sunshine State of Mind: 1987 Nissan 300ZX Convertible

The Z31 generation Nissan/Datsun 300ZX did not get a convertible version from the factory...but there was a company in California that converted the coupe version into a ragtop for a fee back when new. This is one of the original 250 convertiblized cars that still remains on the road today, so the price is higher than you'd expect for a Z31.  Find this 1987 Nissan 300ZX Convertible offered for $7500 in Parker, CO via craigslist. Tip from Jeff.

1982 Citroën CX Pallas

The Citroën CX is an oddball French sedan/fastback (don't call it a hatchback because it has its own trunk in the back) "executive car" that combined a complex hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension with 4-cylinder powerplants to replace the venerable ID/DS in Citroen's lineup.  Find this 1982 Citroën CX Pallas offered for $2,500 in Richmond, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

The Hulk: 1941 Chevrolet Rat Rod Truck

You know what is the problem with modern cars? They make life too easy for us.  I'm not suggesting you go Amish or anything to that extent, but you could spend less of your time riding in a vehicle that suggests which lane you should occupy and more in a vehicle that has used license plates for flooring.  Or as tipper Jon I puts it: Trying to find that unique ride that gives the middle finger to a modern auto marketplace chock full of massage seats and lane departure warning systems?
Well, here it is. Find this 1941 Chevrolet Rat Rod Truck offered for $5800 in Houston, TX via craigslist. Tip from Jon.

Grey Sky: 2003 Acura CL Type S

This next car comes from tipper Jeff who writes: Another sleeper at a great price point and it looks super clean.  Yup, I can't disagree with that statement. Find this 2003 Acura CL Type S offered for $8000 in Methuen, MA via craigslist.

Louver Lovers Unite: 1988 Subaru XT6

This next car checks a few boxes that aren't easy to check -- first it has a cool boxy look that was only in vogue for a few years in the 80s and second it has louvers that are so awesome I can't even explain it. Find this 1988 Subaru XT6 offered for $6,500 in Montclair, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

A What? 1977 Datsun F10 Sports Wagon

What in the blazes is a Datsun F10? If your memories of the late 1970s are as hazy as mine (no...not haze like Cheech and Chong, more like the haze of being a little thumb sucker) then you probably don't remember the Datsun F10 because they didn't make many when new and most rotted into the earth or were swapped onto Dodge Powerwagon chassis and turned into snowplows...but somebody has a complete example and is asking a crazy amount of money for one...but it isn't like you'll find many comps around. Find this 1977 Datsun F10 offered for $9000 in Torrance, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Double Trouble: 1986 vs 1988 Ferrari 308 Mera Fiero Clones

Wow.  What are the chances?  We got a hot tip on a Fauxrarri 308 clone (that uses a Pontiac Fiero chassis and some Ferrarieqse body work) powered by a Caddy V8 and then another tip came through...and I thought...wow, must be the same car.  Nope.  TWO DIFFERENT CADDY POWERED FIERRARIS AT THE SAME TIME.  First up is this 1988 Ferrari 308 Clone offered for $15,450 in Virginia Beach, VA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Centennial Blues: 1952 Citroën Traction Avant

It was 100 years this past March when French industrialist André Citroën launched his Type A 8CV "Torpedo".  It was a simple machine without the complex solutions to automotive problems that Citroen became known for in later years -- hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension in 1954, the first mass market disc brakes in 1955 and swiveling headlights in 1967...but first Citroën pioneered a few basic ideas that are in use with most mass production cars today, namely; unibody construction, 4-wheel independent suspension, and front-wheel-drive in a car called the Traction Avant. It might not have been made by Honda...but it is the Accord's French great grand-uncle. Find this 1952 Citroën Traction Avant here on eBay bidding for $11,100 in Vancleave, MS with a few hours to go.

Ain't Easy Being Green: 1967 Toyota Corona 1900 Deluxe

I'd always rather buy a nicely restored or original condition survivor than a car that has had a cheap respray or is a pile of parts...but this next car appears to be a running/driving example of an unusual classic that just needs a paint job and some TLC.  How bad could it be? Find this 1967 Toyota Corona 1900 Deluxe here on eBay bidding for $1,175 reserve-not-met with 2 days to go, located in Moreno Valley, CA.

Needs More Power: 1985 BMW 524TD

Sorry about all the BMWs recently, I've just been feeling the German thing recently and...well...what am I apologizing for...if you don't like BMWs go start your own Daily Turismo competitor site and call it Daily Not BMWs or Daily Honda.  Anyway, I'm not a fan of buying cars that have "stopped running", particularly if they cost more than a few hundred bucks, but this next car is surprisingly clean and appears to have considerable potential...particularly if you ditch the worthless oil burner and slushbox in favor for something like an N54 and 6-speed manual.  Find this 1985 BMW 524TD offered for $2500 in Berkeley, CA via craigslist.

Underappreciated Classic: 1981 BMW 633CSi

When will the E24 generation BMW 6-series get the market attention and love it deserves?  Oh...I'm not supposed to say that?  I'm just supposed to keep my mouth shut and let all the sheeple go and spend their money on Porsche 911s and over restored Camaros?  Okay.  Right.  Nothing to see here. Not a fantastic piece of machinery with a manual gearbox that desparately needs some Singer style restorations for the wealthy buyer to scoop up like popcorn.  Find this 1981 BMW 633CSi here on eBay offered for $8,100 buy-it-now or make offer located in Sugar Land, TX with 3 days to go.

567 HP 2.0T Tire Shredder: 2004 Audi A4

Everybody needs at least two cars.  One of them needs to be a project that'll keep your fingers dirty and the other should be a late model reliable car that is fast and fun to drive.  Maybe one of those cars should haul more than two people...but I think this next car could handle daily driver duties AND your family AND keep your fingers dirty on the weekend. Find this 2004 Audi A4 offered for $9000 in Queens, NY via craigslist. Tip from Jeff.

Imola Not Ebola: 2003 BMW M3

If you've got $15k to spend on a small late model BMW sedan, you might be tempted to buy a 335i from the previous generation...which would be a good choice, but you might not be familiar with how cheap the E46 generation M3s have become.  And while a newer 3-series might be similar on paper and in terms of horsepower/etc, but the M cars are where BMW puts all of its technological might -- complete with upgraded suspension, limited slip differential, fancy single clutch automated manual transmission, 8000 rpm, individual throttle bodies and power everything.  If the regular 3-series is a milkshake, the M3 is a white Russian.  Find this 2003 BMW M3 here on eBay offered for $15,500 buy-it-now located in Midland Park, NJ with a few days to go.

Baja Ghia: 1966 Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia

Everything Baja is cool right now -- you can find Baja 911s, Baja Mustangs, and Baja Beetles galore, but I can't say I've seen many Baja-Ghias in my time.  But I like it because it combines the basic rugged Volkswagen Beetle powertrain with a unique body that doesn't look like a pregnant ladybug. Find this 1966 Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia offered for $6000 in Phoenix, AZ via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!
