5k: Late Model Thorsday: 2006 Saab 9-3 Aero 6-spd

No Thorsday is complete without a posting of something from those Scandinavian madmen; today's is a quick look at a late model Saab 9-3 Aero.  We picked this 9-3 because recently it looked like Saab was in a death spiral and would soon join great defunct auto brands, but recent news articles (like this one on autoblog) claim that 9-3 production has started again this week in Trollhättan thanks to Saab's new Chinese owner -- NEVS.  Anyway, don't bother looking for a Saab dealer in North America as they have been turned into strip malls, but pick up this clean 2006 Saab 9-3 Aero for sale in Santa Monica, CA for $6,700 buy-it-now on ebay.

10k: I'd Rather Have A V10: 1999 Ford Crown Victoria P71 With Triton V10

The 2nd generation Crown Victoria  was introduced in 1998 and was available to the public (mostly old dudes) through the 2007 model year.  From 2008 to 2011 the Crown Vic was only sold for fleet/rental use and was the police car of choice for many precincts.  This made spotting smokey and dropping to the legal speed limit an exercise in Crown Vic spotting and its recognizable shape will be missed as it has been replaced with various Malibu, Taurus, Charger & Caprice.  If you are in the market for a used Crown Victoria, the one to get is the P-71 Police Interceptor which added a bunch of cop special parts but used the same basic 4.6 liter modular V8...unless you replace it with a V10.  Find this 1999 Ford Crown Victoria  P71 with Triton V10 power for $8,500 via craigslist in California, MD.  Tip from Carl L.

5k: New Six: 1969 BMW 2800

In 1968 BMW introduced a new line of mid-sized sedan that it called simply the "new six" - a reference to the number of cylinders in the M30 engine.  The new six is commonly called the Bavaria in North America because the higher end versions were indeed badged that way, but in 1969 you could get a 2500 or 2800; the Bavaria didn't come out until 1971.  Find this 1969 BMW 2800 for sale in Agoura Hills, CA for $6,500 via craigslist.

5k: BumbleBeater: 1986 Suzuki Samurai Chevy V8

The Suzuki Samurai was a surprisingly competent small 4X4 SUV from Japan with a propensity for rolling over, so much so that later models had a warning notice about tippy-ness to potential drivers on the sun visor. The Samurai was powered by a tiny underpowered 4-cylinder engine, but over the years quite a few of them have gotten transformed into V8 powered monsters.  Find this 1986 Suzuki Samurai V8 Chevy powered for sale in Marshalltown, IA currently bidding for $2,050 reserve-not-met with a few hours to go.

5k: Frank and Fastidious: 1995 Eagle Talon TSi AWD 5-spd

Rest In Peace Brian O'Conner.  In case you've been living in a cave the last few days, the acting/automotive world lost a great one this weekend when Paul Walker died in a Porsche Carrera GT crash north of Los Angeles.  We wanted to find a way to honor his legacy as an actor and gearhead by featuring one of his movie rides.  The MkIV Supra from The Fast and the Furious (2001) may get all the glory and have ridden on a wave of popularity/appreciation for the past decade, but the first car Brian O'Conner drove in the movie was the DSM powered Mitsubishi Eclipse. The Mazda MX-5 arrived on the US shores in 1989 as a 1990 model with the name Miata on its trunk lid.  The MX-5 really was a world changer because for $14k USD you could buy a convertible sports car with cat-like reflexes, great build quality and a bullet-proof drive-train.  Better still, the MX-5 in the used market continues to be a great starter vehicle for the Daily Turismist on a budget - a gateway drug for gear-heads.  Find this 1990 Mazda MX-5 Turbo for sale in Emory, GA for $4,900 via craigslist.  Seller submission from Boomer.

5k: Back To Normal: 1965 Volvo 122S Amazon Survivor

The Volvo 122S/Amazon  is regular feature on Daily Turismo because they are rugged, cool looking and (most importantly) cheap!  Imagine our shock/horror/flabergastification (that isn't a word) when we witnessed an original condition one we featured skyrocket from the $8k when we picked it up to $36k at the end of bidding...which turned out to be some funny business, but the car still get $18k when the auction ended the second time, or roughly twice normal going rate.  Faith in humanity shaken, we continue to cautiously monitor the 122S/Amazon market for good deals and this one looks to be a well used and abused classic for a blue collar price.  Find this 1965 Volvo 122S Amazon for sale in Auburn, WA currently bidding for $4,550 reserve-not-met with a few hours to go.

10k: Mid-Engine Madness: 1963 Ford Econoline Pickup with Chevy V8

The Ford Econoline was introduced in 1961 as a competitor to Chevy's Corvair Greenbrier and Volkswagen's Type 2 (Van).  Ford's offering (based on the Falcon chassis) wasn't some wacky air-cooled rear engined setup and instead was configured like a miniature cab-over truck.  Drive a stock example on even the slightest of twisty roads and you will instantly become nauseated from the high seating position and under-sprung/under-damped suspension.  You won't need to bring along a barf bag with today's modified Econoline, but you may need to change your pants on a regular basis.  Find this 1963 Ford Econoline with Chevy V8 for sale in Mesa, AZ currently on ebay for $12,250 buy-it-now.

5k: A Clockwork Orange: 1983 Dodge Ram Van

The Stanley Kubrick directed A Clockwork Orange (1971) is a disturbing and thought-provoking film about violence and rehabilitation with a sublime classical soundtrack.  The basic premise is that a psychopath commits all kinds of horrible violent crimes, is locked up and subjected to a torture/therapy and is cured...but not really cured.  Anyway, the movie may be a classic, but why anyone would create a "Clockwork Orange" van (complete with a bed in the back) is completely lost on us.  Find this 1983 Dodge Ram Van custom for sale in Etowah, TN currenlty bidding on ebay for $4,051 reserve-not-met.
