The Oldsmobile Jetstar I was only produced for two model years, 1964 and 1965--it was a lower option version of the Oldsmobile Starfire and meant to compete directly with Pontiac's Grand Prix. The 1965 Jetstar rides on the Oldsmobile 88 B-body platform and was only available with a colossal 7.0 liter V8 pushing decent power. Today you don't see many of them on the road, but this project is really cheap for anything with two doors and big block power from the mid 60s. The Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 was a monster of a Japanese sports tourer when first released in 1991 with its 300 horsepower twin turbo V6 mated to all four wheels. It may have been a bit porky on the scales (3800 lbs) and complex, but it is destined to be a future collectible...umm...just not today...today it is really cheap. The volume and quality of comments on the pages of Daily Turismo have increased so rapidly recently that I've had a hard time giving out the temporally maligned COW award. In the past, I've been quick to hand it out to the best zingers, one liners and belly ticklers. Today, however, I want to award a commenter for a thoroughly detailed and exhaustive analysis of a featured car and point out that this commenter did more to evaluate to car that I did in the original feature. Just an excerpt:Overall, there was quite obviously a load of solid work put into this car. Looks like they took the conservative, stock-ish approach with the engine which with the non-squirter, skinny rod block and tiny turbo is a good thing. Just get the CBV situation figured out, throw an airbox on there or a heat-shielded cone and enjoy the other guy's investment for the next 100k or so.

The fourth generation Chevrolet Caprice was sold from 1991 to 1996 as the last hurrah for the Caprice name launched in 1964 (until the Caprice name was brought back for fleet use in 2011). The Caprice Wagon shares most of its parts with the Buick Roadmaster Wagon but it lacks the faux wood sides, which ain't a bad thing at all. Twenty years ago when I worked at a small Porsche repair shop, the advice from mechanic/owner was to try and get into the newest generation 911 you could afford as it offered the best performance and least maintenance per dollar. In the last two decades, the market has twisted to make that advice totally worthless, particularly the rapid ascension of the early 911 prices, a total lack of depreciation in 993 (1993-1998) prices, and rapid drop in watercooled 911 prices.
