The Chrysler Imperial Crown coupe was the last of the big executive class coupes from Chrylser. Jay Leno described it as "for the man who doesn't seek prestige because he already has it." In fact, the ex Tonight Show host actually owns a 1967 Imperial Crown Coupe that he purchased from a movie studio executive. Today, you don't need Jay Leno's bank account to afford this classic. Find this 1967 Chrysler Imperial Crown coupe offered for $3,600 in Long Beach, CA via craigslist. $3600? For a big block two door Mopar from the 60s? It seems a bit too good to be true, but the single photograph from the ad and a total lack of detail doesn't help inspire confidence. The seller does say it has 88k original miles, the 440 cubic inch V8, gold on gold and bucket seats. The condition of everything is not clear and the only photo looks like a picture of a picture.
If you want a better idea of what the Imperial Crown coupe looks like, look no further than Jay Leno's garage.

Something you don't want to hear about your car or your girlfriend "I wonder how much it weighs?"
ReplyDeleteI have owned one car with a 440 and it was insane. A 1971 6pack challenger 440 with 1350 cfm from the carbs. It would BBQ the tires in any gear at basically any speed.
The Imperial could be a really fun project.
E-i-C Vince needs to go buy this car and turn it into a '60s NASCAR tribute, already. Hubcap removal - check. Just needs white letter Good Years and some period correct sponsor lettering.
