Father's Day is coming up soon, and what better way to continue the commercialization of another religious holiday...wait...what? Father's Day has always been a commercial "Hallmark" holiday? Oh, well...carry on. Last year I tried to introduce my kids to the Nepali celebration of Buwaako mukh herne din (बुवाको मुख हेर्ने दिन) (which in Nepali is literally "day for looking at father’s face"). They were not impressed and stared at me for a few moments like I had just grown horns and then went back to whatever they were doing, probably a hybrid soccer-kickboxing game that eventually leads to the youngest kid crying. Of course, I went back to the garage, climbed under an old car and visualized ways to spend their college funds...rack & pinon, helical limited slip differential, titanium exhaust. I received a good LED head lamp that has made me wonder how I ever survived this long without the bloody thing! They can be very affordable for a kid on a budget or very powerful for not much more money.
