In 1973 Chevrolet replaced the SS (Super Sport) logo on their Chevelle with an S-3 option -- without ever admitting what the 3rd S meant. Regardless the S-3 was combined with the Laguna name to build a polyurethane front ended coupe and that was supposed to help the NASCAR teams be more competitive...but the story doesn't end here. Apparently, if you knew the right COPO (Central Office Production Order) codes you could order the S-3 Laguna nose on an El Camino. When Volkswagen decided to diversify their product portfolio in the mid 1950s they did so with the help of Luigi Segre from carrozzeria Ghia and hand built bodywork from karosseriebauer Karmann. The result was a stylish coupe that used styling themes that Ghia had previously explored with Chrysler and Studebaker mated to the simple Beetle floorpan. It was a such a good looking car (for something from the 1950s) that even Virgil Exner claimed some credit for the design -- and it does look like a 5/8ths scale Chrysler D'Elegance. This past weekend of was the 4th Annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show located at the Shelby International building in Gardena, CA. If you like Shelby cars, this is a must see event featuring a cornucopia of Shelby Mustangs, Shelby Cobras, Ford GT40s, and even a few Shelby Dodges from the 80s. As always the event featured a 1PM rev for Carroll (you can hear it on our video below), but this year a Spirit of Competition panel was on stage to discuss Adam Carolla's to-be-released documentary "The 24 Hour War".

The MGB was introduced by the British Motor Corporation in 1962 in soft top roadster form as a replacement for the swoopy fender MGA. In the beginning it was a lithe little sports car with chrome bumpers and a can-do attitude, but by 1975 the US version was wrapped in ugly black plastic bumpers, smog tuned to make less power and raised in height by safety requirements...but that doesn't mean you shouldn't consider one as your budget classic. In 2006 (and 2007) Mercedes-Benz released the first of the M156 V8 powered AMG speed machines including the S63, CL63, ML63, R63, E63, SL63, CLS63, and CLK63.
