The CLK63 AMG we posted yesterday was certainly one of the least common AMG built cars to arrive on these shores with numbers in the low triple digits per year -- but this next car was imported in the double digits for the 2007-2009 model years. The CLK63 may have been a unicorn, but the E63 AMG wagon is a real woiperdinger. Find this 2007 Mercedes E63 AMG Estate Wagon here on eBay offered for $25,300 buy-it-now or make-offer located in Tampa, FL.Sales in the US of the E63 AMG wagon are published around the web in various places, but the consensus seems to be 67 for 2007, 62 for 2008, and 24 for 2009. If you see one for sale and like the color...you'd better act quickly because it might be your only chance, at least until the next owner gets sick of the tire & fuel bills.
Just where does all that exhaust and tire smoke come from? The same 6.2 liter M156 V8 that is found in all manner of -63 badged AMG rocketships, and in the wagon it is rated at 507 horsepower at 6800 rpm and 465 ft-lbs of torque. These are complicated (and expensive engines) so pray that nothing unexpected happens during your time at the helm.
The jade green exterior color is nice, but one has to wonder why anyone would want that shade of bandaid tan all over the inside of your car -- the steering wheel is a particularly repugnant (but complimentary) shade of high school gym locker. Several different shades of (faux?) wood are inexplicably added to this cacophony of hearing aid beige.

It's a car that's very near the top of my list. The green might be acceptable. The tan interior is much better than black or gray. The wheels are overkill.
ReplyDeleteI completely disagree. The green is amazing- I didn't know MB made such a nice color. The tan is horrendous- wish it were a darker color. The wheels might be acceptable.
DeleteLove this car. Wish I could figure out how to justify buying one.
Well son of a gun, I did not realize that the Jackalope had a European cousin. Thanks once again for educating me, DT!
ReplyDeleteDiscalimer: your spelling may vary:

No, that steering wheel is resuscitation dummy tan.
ReplyDeletePretty sure that a Mercedes would be a Elwetritsch, and a Wolpertinger would be a BMW.
ReplyDeleteWell, hot dang! Looks like Hugh is probably correct. I am loving this crypto-zoology lesson:
Deletehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elwetritsch
Kaibeezy is gonna need to make an Elwetritsch badge. "Chicken like creature with antlers and scales". Don't eat the wild mushrooms guys.
DeleteAnd simple 'ol me thought that both of these required a round of penicillin to get rid of. Perhaps that is true after cavorting with the Elwetritsch
Deleteskvader is the Swedish equivalent -- from wikipedia
Deleteforequarters and hindlegs of a European hare (Lepus europaeus), and the back, wings and tail of a female wood grouse
The term "skvader" is nowadays used colloquially in Swedish to mean "a bad compromise" or "a combination of contradicting elements".[2]
"Skvader" also became the nickname in the 1950s and 1960s for a combination bus and lorry (truck) which was commonly used on small bus routes in Norrland; the front-end was a bus taking passengers and the back-end was an open loading bay, often used for delivering milk from small farmers to the nearest dairy.
Hmmm. Probably a pretty good name for an electronic pop-country band as well...
DeleteSpeaking of "combination bus and lorry "
DeleteWhen I was in China in 1986 I saw lots of busses with people in the front and livestock and vegetables in the back, which seemed pretty reasonable.
Then the "study group" I was with took a chartered jet flight inside China. After we were all on board they proceed to fill the rear of the plane with crates of garlic and live chickens. Then the pilot went out with a measuring stick, held it up to the landing gear, and started yelling at the ground crew pointing at the airplane and pantomiming "tall fat people" until they removed some of the garlic.
Probably isn't like that there now.
Don't bet on it.
DeleteIt's encouraging that the pilot was able to reduce his weight-and-balance calcs to a measurement of landing gear compression.
That isn't to say that I'd want to bet my life on that SWAG.
"hearing aid beige" perfect +1
ReplyDeleteLove. This. Car.
ReplyDeleteholy cow man this is a shock to see and that price isn't too bad! tire burner for sure! incredible thing.
ReplyDeleteDidn't see a photo of the 3rd row but it is sort of mentioned in the ad listing. IF this does have 7-seat capacity, then its even more of a unicorn and I wish I had the funds to scoop it right up and haul some of my kids around ASAP!
Deleteif it does then it was taken from a lesser merc, as I recall AMG said no to the third row. something about kids neck muscles. pshh... if it doesn't have a third row that would definitely be the first thing I did, after replacing the rear tires on the 4th day I owned it.

Delete134k on the clock, she's no spring chicken. Interior beige IS ugly in my humble opinion. Cs
ReplyDeleteI'm not getting all the tan-hate. It's basically the same color as the interior of our 540i, and I find that a much nicer and friendlier color than the black-and-blue in the M5.
ReplyDeleteThe tan steering wheel is a bit much.
As for gray interiors...the problem is that EVERYONE does gray interiors, and they're all BORING.
Florida. Why wrong side of the country? I hate the wheels, but he's got the OE, and the rest of the thing is just about right. If it were somewhere I could go see it in person I might just do it.
DeleteThis is one to throw all caution to the wind. It makes it very easy to set aside any MB reservations from this era.
ReplyDeleteJust freaking cool. A WILF for sure. New category of station wagon porn. 500+ hp and 6800 rpm. Geezus.
I want this soooooo bad.... just need to budget, oh lets see, my house in order to keep it running. might be worth it
