We live in uncertain times. In the event of some kind of financial/political/seismic/undead/famine upheaval, the most logical course of action is to climb into a vehicle painted like Stormin' Norman's uniform and head for the hills. Find this 1984 Ford E350 4x4 Ambulance for sale in Colorado Springs, CO for $5,800 via craigslist.
All the hard work has been done with this bugout vehicle. Desert camouflage? That block is checked. Lift kit? Installed. Spare tire? Front and center. Heat/massage passenger's seat cover? Good to go. Bring on the apocalypse.
It is actually comforting to see this vehicle on the market. Based on the photographs, this is not the only doomsday vehicle at the seller's compound estate. As someone who appears to stay well informed about the rapture, perhaps this means he is not expecting social collapse anymore. It could also mean that he needs to sell this rig to finance a larger, more heavily armored one. :(
On the upside, you can use this vehicle for other things while waiting for calamity. As far as campers go, you could easily turn this into an off-road RV to beat even the richest bearded trust-fund hipster's Westy Syncro. Speaking of which, if you like peace and quiet when you are camping, you can bet this van will repel anything with a Patagonia sticker to a radius of 100 meters or more. This means you won't be able to scam bottles of IPA anymore, but it ain't the end of the world.

That is a very respectable price. Wish it were closer to Cali. Figure 6-8 mpgs.
ReplyDeleteExactly what place on earth would this camo job help one blend into?

Seat mounted Gatling gun for unruly-extrication-attempts(UEA's).
