5k: DT Stickered! 1967 Volvo 122S Amazon Wagon

The Volvo 122S Amazon wagon is...wait a minute...what is that little sticker in the rear window on this car...a DT sticker!  This is indeed a first for us, a car listed with a DT sticker in the window.  Find this 1967 Volvo 122 S Amazon Station Wagon for sale in Mission Hills, CA currently bidding on ebay for $1,040 with 6 days to go. Seller submission from Oprah85 on ebay.

The Volvo 122S Amazon was the original Swedish answer to all things automotive and was available as a coupe, sedan and 5-door wagon.  The 122S even donated its basic components to the P1800/1800/1800S/1800ES sports coupe, but the original incarnation is a superb combination of usability and cool.

This 122S Amazon is powered by  a B20 inline-4 good for 125 horsepower and used in everything Swedish from the 1800E/ES, 140/240, C202 to the Haubits 77 Bofors howitzer cannon.  This car would have originally been equipped with a B18 and slushbox, but the B20 and 4-speed was swapped in by a previous owner.

The inside of this 122S looks decent for its age and the vintage Volvo interior parts are well known for longevity.  The exterior has been painted at least once and this car looks to be a great driver condition classic offered in a no-reserve auction.

  1. Oprah loves those Cibies, doesn't he? Which is fortuitous because so do I. The fender mirrors are interesting, too. I am going to assume the steering wheel is a bit grungy under the cover and likely need replacement, but what a gorgeous wheel it is. Despite the swap, were it mine I would seriously consider transplant #2: b230/234 or FT with T5. Or LSx, of course.

  2. Step 1: Have a cool car, esp. Volvo.
Step 2: Put a DT sticker on it
Step 3: List it on Ebay
    Step 4: Profit!

  3. I would like to add a couple more things about the car.
Id like to make a correction that the car is equipped with an M41 transmission which means that it has an electric over drive and it works.
I just found out this valuable information from the previous owner.
Also a couple of upgrades/safety features that I havent mentioned before.
The car has been converted to dual-circuit brakes and a breakaway steering column as well.
Thank you for all the interest and compliments so far.

  6. Like doctordell I think a swap is in order, but I think a hpt 5 cylinder moderately built would make me happy. Also they make a crazy wail when they are uncorked.

  7. I took the photos in the shade to get a better feel of the car.It wouldve shine too much in the sun and the true color wouldnt show as it does now.Remember I had a 70 one painted this color featured here?Well I photographed it in the sun and it looked so bright for some reason specially on Apple screens.Lesson learned.

    1. I had the same problem with one of my dark green cars. It looked way too light or black in the sun depending upon which panel surface. The shade allowed for a more uniform lighting.

    2. Gotcha. Just trying to bust your balls b/c I'm so jealous. How long have you had this one? If you don't mind me asking. And was it this clean when you got it?

  8. What happened to the auction. Bidding was picking up and I was ready for the home stretch. This is a bummer.
