The fleet version of the Chevrolet Camaro was sold to Police precincts around the USA for pursuit purposes as the full sized Caprice/Crown Vic were considered slow for catching some of the faster speeders. The internal option code to get the Police version was B4C, and it created what was essentially a Z-28 auto with RS cloth interior and external styling. Find this 2000 Chevrolet Camaro B4C for sale in Granite Falls, WA for $6,999 via craigslist.
B4C is not an abbreviation for "Bitchin' 4 Cops" or "Badnews 4 Criminals", it is the GM special option code that takes a standard Camaro and upgrades it to Police specs. The B4C featured larger front and rear anti-roll bars, large 4-wheel disc brakes, a high output alternator, and an LS1 V8. The B4C shares many components with the Z28 and 1LE option packages but was only available with an auto.
The B4C is equipped with a 5.7 liter LS1 5.7 liter V8, good for 310 horsepower and 340 ft-lbs of torque. Performance from the 3600 lb coupe is considerably better than most cop cars and the understated looks of the basic Camaro exterior will have all sorts of folks scratching their heads. Just don't get pulled over by a real cop because reckless driving or street racing will land you in the back of a squad car nowadays.

ReplyDeleteThat was my car. I had a lot of pictures of it, and a video. Not sure why the fiberglass hood turned up on the edges, except for the design of the vehicle. The hood where it went over the headlights I think caught air at high speeds eventually making it curve upwards, or the fiberglass over time just warped up on the edges. It wasn't from an accident. I think the fenders are plastic. Sold it to a guy up in Bellingham, WA numerous years ago. That was a really fun car to drive back in the day. Go to INTERCEPTORKING.COM for current inventory.
