The discount bin on your local craigslist is a scary place. Behind every great deal lurks a Nigerian prince looking for his next victim, but sometimes a good deal on a car might actually be a good deal. Like this 2011 BMW 335d Sedan offered for $15,900 in SF Valley, CA via craigslist.
Even with an automatic gearbox BMW's e90 generation 335d is a fun way to go fast and save on fuel. The 3.0 liter turbo diesel inline-6 isn't the soot belching penalty box your father owned, and it puts out 265 horsepower, 425 ft-lbs of torque and hits 60 mph in 6.4 seconds -- or about as fast as the 2005-2007 330i.
This one has a salvage title and a seller with a grasp of English only marginally better than my understanding of Serbian, but hey...a deal is a deal? Right?

Ben's car is scary, as El Jefe wrote. But these 3-Ds(!) are some of the best diesels I've ever driven. Just fantastic. Maybe find a different one for sale, though...

Ultimate dieseling machine? A bimmer? What about a bully-dogged 12v pushing 1200hp and farting coal all over the place? Im sure its a wonderful machine but ultimate is pushing it.
