5k: Maluch Luck? 1980 Polski Fiat 126p

In between the classic Fiat 500 and the modern Cinquecento reboot, there lives a little known (on these shores) subcompact called the Fiat 126.  The Sergio Sartorelli designed machine was first built in Italy (1972-1980) and eventually in Poland (1973-2000).  Find this 1980 Polski Fiat 126p here on eBay currently bidding for $2,000 reserve-not-met with 5 days to go, located in Stamford, CT.


This isn't your typical Polish immigrant 126p, this one is covered in a racing paint job, Cibie fog lights, and all kinds of stickers advertising your car dude credentials.  The seller includes only a few details about this car and it would be interesting to find out who built this, when, and why.



Powering the 126p is a 2-cylinder air cooled engine that pumps out a whopping 23 horsepower and 32 ft-lbs of torque.  Even with only 1300 lbs to push around the 126p will be slower than a tectonic plate, but with some aftermarket hot rod parts you might be able to keep up with a modern family sedan.
